  1. Good Luck with that one! Thanks for reply I thought it was too easy.
  2. Hi, just planning ahead and was interested to hear you paid the AOS bond, I thought our sponsor would have to do this with us transferring funds into her account. Did you have any problems doing it yourselves, it would be easier when sponsor is working.
  3. Hi, we received an invitation via our agent to arrange police checks, medicals and AOS docs on 11/10/17 ! We were so thrilled to receive this news when on a three day trip to Canberra and southern highlands, we just wanted to get back and get on with it. Well done on compiling a list of others in the waiting room, it helps everyone keep up to speed.
  4. At last! wonderful news, you must be so happy and relieved your wait is over! good luck with your new life.
  5. That is great news, what a wait you have had, try to relax and enjoy now, time to celebrate, Cheers!
  6. WOW ! congratulations ! we are so happy for you - enjoy Bali, we are thinking of taking a holiday there but fear still have quite a wait for our visas. I think you must have been lucky and got a super efficient case officer ?
  7. Congrats and good luck Fisher! we will be looking for somewhere eventually but helping with family at moment did you find something in Kiama? It looks a nice place and we are seriously thinking of going south or west now due to exchange rate and property price increases.
  8. Congratulations Fisher on the birth of your little granddaughter! and you have escaped for a break in a hotel ! heaven as you say, we too are planning a break but not sure when. Finding everything here very expensive at the moment but bought a car. Enjoy your relaxation while you can.
  9. Congrrats Angela on selling and joining the offshore waiting room, at least the sky is blue! We are exhausted with new born and 4 yr old and wonder how we managed when ours were young! I hope all works out for you, safe journey.
  10. In NSW the scheme was updated 1st July 2017 on property there is no stamp duty up to $600,000 and reduced fee up to $800,000 and on land up to $350,000.
  11. Hi Fisher, sorry to hear you have been ill and glad you are feeling better you will need your energy back when baby arrives. We have been wondering whether we should get a flu vaccine here in Australia as apparently there has been an increase in cases this year. We had one last year in uk but don't know whether the current flu in Australia is a different strain, we would hate to give a new born and toddler it should we catch it.
  12. Re Medicare, I don't know which would be your closest, we went to Hornsby on a weekday morning had to fill in a form by which time a member of staff was ready to see us and it probably took about ten mins as we had passports etc with us. We went looking at blocks of land yesterday but no real success but it is interesting getting to know areas better. I agree about Gosford centre but there are some nice areas within 20 mins drive of there. We originally liked Avoca beach but the roads get very busy between there and the motorway and we thought a lot of the properties might be holiday homes. We would like to be near water and Brisbane water is a possibility (nowhere near Brisbane) the further north we have looked prices have been lower but we didn't like it as much without going so far it would be a long drive or train ride to our daughters. The problem is once north of Sydney there are miles and miles of bush either side of the motorway which pushes development further away, a problem for commuters and it pushes the price of property up. I am getting used to prices here but was a bit staggered to pay $30 for a 5kg box of Omo washing powder, keep hoping the £ will go up again but guess it is unlikely until Brexit is sorted. ? Hope all goes well with forthcoming birth of your second grandchild.
  13. Great to hear you are safely in Australia make the most of your time with two yr old, since arriving in Oz ourselves we find the days are flying by helping with new born and almost 4 yr old, plus all the washing etc that entails we fall into bed each night exhausted! We are still in the queue for 143 visa which is frustrating as we would like to build a house and get on with life and are aware of how precious this time is now we are retired. Good luck with the house hunting - where are you looking? we find we are being pushed further north in nsw due to Exchange rates and property price increases here. Currently been exploring just south of Gosford area. Relax and enjoy, you have had a tough journey !
  14. Good luck Fisher 1 you have had a long wait but at last you are on your way! Enjoy being with yor family.
  15. Hi Angela, very pleased to hear you have your visa, I originally had 8101 (no work) and 8201 (max 3 month study) with stay period 12 month from each arrival on my visitor (subclass 600) multiple travel facility visa, and must not arrive after 20th March 2020. I then found however that my husbands visa which he hadn't compared to mine but was applied for the same day had 8501 - maintain health insurance (which we have) 8503 - no further stay, 8558 max stay 12 month in 18 months, 8101 - no work , 8201 max 3 months study Having queried this I then got a reply saying 'due to an oversight the following visa conditions applicable to you were not included in your application. Condition 8558 Not resident - prevents the holder from staying in Australua for more than 12 months in any 18 month period. Your visa may be cancelled if you seek to return to Aus and stay for a period which would result in your spending more than 12 months in any 18 month period continuously. 8501 - health i surance 8503 - no further stay 'prevents the holder from lodging further visa applications while they remain in Australia. Their explanation was " your visa provides for up to 12 months stay on each entry, Therefore if you left Aus after a stay of 10 months and returned (i.e. 2 months later) then you should not stay onshore more than six months. Confusing, not sure if we can apply for another visa once offshore, I am hoping it won't be necessary and our 143 will come through as it seems a bit silly applying for the new 3 yr visa in November at this stage, but who knows with processing times. On a happier note our second grandson was born today!
  16. Not at all sure, the explanation of the ruling contradicted itself and we didn't get reply to query until we had arrived in Australia. There was no obvious reason, we are only 6 months difference in age, applied the same day with the same details, but mine had virtually no conditions and my husbands did. It is worrying as we don't know whether our visa will come through by the time our 12month 600 visa is due to expire, don't mind a few holidays but 6 months is a different matter, particularly when we were originally told 12-18 months and we thought if we allowed two years that would be fine, now looks like being over three years. The allocation allowed per year isn't much if you think of this being world wide, the highest number of applicants being Chinese followed by Indians I think. We would like to buy land and build if possible but it is a risk to buy land before having the visa although I believe we are allowed to do that but not buy an existing property. We have Bupa health cover and now registered for Medicare and driving license but just have to wait and see how it goes, it would help if we knew when we are likely to get the 143 visas as I would rather not rent for any length of time as we are now retired and house prices just keep on going up, but nothing we can do about it.
  17. Good luck Angela ours came through in days, less han a week but were different, my husbands had more conditions (no further stay) I queried this and they put it on mine too! So not sure where we will be in 12 months, life is a challenge but glad to be in Oz in the winter sun getting ready for second grandchild.
  18. Thanks Catlady and sorry to hear you are Still waiting! can't be long now.....fingers crossed for you.
  19. Can anyone remind me (and new members) what the points/discount card is for shopping in Oz, I can't remember how far back it was mentioned, is it the one attached to Coles or Woolworth or different? Also any news Catlady? I am hoping I have missed a posting and you now have your visa? Sue
  20. That's fantastic news Kath, congratulations! We are enjoying being in Oz at the moment with our almost 4 yr old grandson and another expected in a weeks time! no holiday! but really lovely. We missed so much of our first grandchilds early years so hope to see his sibling much more, if only that visa would come through..... You will have fun shopping for the new baby and hopefully get there soon!
  21. Hi SusieRoo, thank you for your good wishes - things are being packed up at breakneck speed here and I have had to make a small room a safe room for our luggage, documents etc. As regards sending things to your daughter we did send some boxes to our daughter (smaller than tea chest size) as we still had in store in our loft here items belonging to both our daughters and we were able to include a few other bits. What you can do is send a suitcase ahead, about £147.00 with courier door to door plus insurance costs which take it up to about £200.00. Shippers will not usually ship containers of furniture etc without a permanent visa as they could get turned back or fined. I am sure some people have risked it but usually when they have had medical etc and just waiting for final VAC to go through, I suppose it depends how much you want to send. Sue
  22. Wow you have been busy Suzyroo, I have resigned myself to it being three years just hope not much longer! Our packers arrive today! just wish it could be shipped and we had our visa, it is all going into store, anothet expense! We are off on Sunday on our 600 visa to await grandchild number two. ?
  23. That's great news Fisher good news at last I hope things go smoothly for you! ?
