Not to my knowledge, the waiting is a nightmare that just goes on and on, if only we had a date we could make plans and hopefully get a house of our own.

I am sorry you are still waiting I don’t understand why they didn’t ask people to prepare in advance in date order perhaps it was that if your date was quite near you would be asked to submit everything within 28 days very soon as opposed to preparing. Who knows , It might be that some people weren’t ready with their paperwork and didn’t submit in the 28 days or it was very complex and that would presumably hold others up inthe queue while they sorted it out. It is very depressing at times but we have been so busy helping with our little grandchildren I haven’t kept up as much on this site as I used to when in the UK. Good luck to everyone let us hope the processing speeds up again.

I think it is unfair to blame Centrelink for all the delays we found them very helpful it obviously varies state to state. I understand there used to be more regional processing offices and then it was all centralised in Perth not sure if thhis was an improvement or not. It is very frustrating waiting but we have to remember there are people from many different places in the world applying all with different circumstances.

I thought they were only issuing processing updates monthly now, so there may be a big change soon.

Trudy and Andrew, so sorry you feel you have to pull out of your application, as others have said there are cheaper areas away from cities, but if you feel you can’t do that I hope you get out for lots of lovely holidays with your family. To all with the granny flats good luck it seems a good solution especially if you are on your own you have security and privacy when you want it and fun with family too. We are still hoping to buy our own place just waiting for the visa.......

Hi Elnak, the acceptance letter was sent from Centrelink to our sponsor snail mail although only took a few days to arrive, we are staying with family in Australia on 12 month visa at moment.

Hi Elnak, if you don’t have an agent I would advise DIBP just in case they want to contact you. As regards timing of acceptance of AOS we were lucky and received letter in less than two weeks, it perhaps varies for different locations.

When we were invited to submit papers, do medicals etc., we were in Australia so went to the Centrelink office with our sponsor for the forms and we could have completed them there as we took ID, passports etc., but as we had a crying baby we took them home to complete. Daughter & Son in law took the docs in. Son in law got phone call to ring back for interview (on Phone). He then received letter asking him to make an appointment to open a bank account at Commonwealth bank and to take the letter with him and when making the appointment ask what docs he may need to provide. He got bank cheque/draft for the $14,000 and when this is in Commonwealth bank they issue a bank guarantee and acknowledgement of deposit. You must then provide these two docs to any Centrelink Customer Service centre within 14 days from the date of the letter. We were very happy when our sponsor got a letter of Acceptance of assurance of support from Centrelink on the 22nd December 2017. We found the Centrelink staff very helpful and they knew what to do unlike some comments on this site. They have a lot of different requests to deal with. My advice is if going to their offices go early - 08.30 and if telephoning ring at 08.00 the wait will be much shorter. Good luck and Happy New Year everyone.

Hi Kath, we haven’t spent 12 months in Australia but our agent advised we do Aus police checks as well as UK just in case we had sp that time by the time Immi process. In fact we are waiting for my husbands now which they said was posted last week, mine came quickly but they say they can be sent anytime in 28 days so its just the luck of the draw. Sue
