  1. Hi Alan, we are a long way behind you but of like mind we went to Budapest, Belgium, Germany, switzerland, Italy (ligurian riviera) australia last year Florida and Barbados early this year and are going to Paris, Sicily, Maastricht this year, might as well see what we can while the travel is cheaper than from Oz, if we ever get there! takes the mind temporarily off the waiting game! Good luck and I hope you and others in April/May 14 hear something SOON. ,
  2. Hi Chilli boy, thank you for the advice, not so easy for us to do though as no close relatives left in uk to keep an eye on things and there could be financial problems if we were still uk citizens like pension etc. not to mention storage costs. I wish everyone the best of luck that are coming back to the uk and thank you for replying.
  3. Hi bristolman, I could have worded my message better, I just wondered why so many of you were leaving Oz to come back to uk.
  4. Hi everyone as an over 60's who is waiting to go to Oz (143 applied April 2015) I am curious as to why most people want to leave is it to be with family and friends, European culture or financial??? We want to go as our daughters and little grandchild are there and we have no close relatives left in the UK. I know I will miss the historic buildings in Europe, friends, etc and it doesn't make much sense financially but we miss our family in Oz so much. A little more sun would be good too but don't think I will like the hotter days. We hope to live in central coast NSW so any tips would be appreciated, looks like it could be another year before we get visas though as immi have such a backlog. Good luck to all of you returning to UK
  5. Hi Lisa Lou we were told by shipping company that we couldn't ship until visa granted but our furniture etc could go in a container and be stored (at a cost), it all has to be packed by them and we would sign each packing list, they know how to word it for customs. Any vacuum cleaners or garden furniture has to be spotlessly cleaned, we will probably leave behind these items. Good luck, hope this helps.
  6. Hi RubyFord, I guess we are all hoping the process doesn' t get longer than 2 years, following that, we should know by April 2017 which in theory means putting house on market in winter months which is not good or selling early, renting, moving furniture twice or storing (we plan on taking quite a bit with us) aaaaaargh! wish they could give us a month to work to! Good luck with your plans we all have fingers and toes crossed.
  7. Glad we are not alone in this! we also did a UK police check which will be way out of date by the time we get a case officer!
  8. Hi if you go out on a tourist visa I assume you can't move private pensions, furniture etc., are you just locking up and going on an extended holiday?
  9. Hi Fisher, thanks for the info on form 80, I think we actually filled one in with our application, maybe the agent sent it too early. Will now have a search to find the copy so we don't have to start from scratch again, hope we have one!
  10. Hi everyone, I just wanted to congratulate everyone who are nearly there and have sold their houses, it is a bit depressing to think we probably have another year at least to wait, is there any way of knowing how many applications they get per year? We don't want to sell our house too early but likewise don't want to be held back after visa is hopefully issued. What is required on form 80? it sounds pretty horrendous! Thank you all for keeping our seats warm in the waiting room and giving so much helpful advice we are slowly shuffling up. CPV lodged 09/04/15 Acknowledged 11/05/15 First VAC receipt 17/04/15
  11. Good luck with it, I hope you have plenty of support in what must have been a very difficult year for you, we would have liked to have applied earlier but we had one elderly parent to think of, we now just want to get on with it before we get any older! We too will have to work hard at making new friends and will need to be a drive away from our family there as Sydney is just too expensive and busy. It is not knowing when they will issue a visa that is difficult to live with, for selling the house, booking holidays, etc., and sorting the pension is difficult since uk gov changed the rules. We must all try and think positive!
  12. Hi Good Luck, I hope your visa comes through very soon and all works well for you, you are amazing cutting down all your possessions to suitcases we have had clear outs but so many things are more expensive in Oz.
  13. Hi Linda, I am new to this as we lodged April 2015, Have you had to store all your furniture etc? I thought you had to be offshore from Oz when the visa application was made and issued? or do you still have a house in Uk? We are wondering at what point to sell the house which we downsized to as rentals usually want a year lease which we we would prefer not to do but might have to. Also can anyone tell me whether the 143 application wait time is the same in every state? We need to go to NSW so guess that will be the longest.
  14. Thank you for your info, yes our agent is MARA registered we used them as our daughter had used them. First payment made 9th April 2015, receipt dated 17th April 2015. We do try to keep in touch but she is a busy lady and the time difference at the moment doesn't help.
  15. We applied for a subclass 143 contributory migrant visa in early April 2015 using an agent in Oz, we know we have a longish wait yet but do I need to open an immi account with the Australian government immigration to be able to track where in the queue we are? Are they catching up yet or are numbers growing? We have no close family left in the UK and want to be with our daughters and our only little grandchild. We are in our late 60's so would like to go sooner rather than later.
  16. Thank you that is very helpful although I hope it might be quicker!
  17. Hi have any of you applied for the 143 contributory parent visa? I am getting conflicting advice as to how long these take at the moment. We applied April 2015 for NSW where our children are resident.
  18. Hi and thank you for the information, I hope you mother in law is soon in Oz. We will have to be patient, did you use an agent? We did, I just wondered if things run smoother and quicker if all the docs have been checked before submitting?
  19. Hi thank you for this info, it is not an option for us to spend a year or more on a temporary visa as we have a house to sell nearer the time of moving permanently, private pensions etc. which we can't move until we have a visa, it is easier to put money in than get it out again! We are going for holidays of about a month but feel in limbo. The gov link will be useful thank you, I will give them a try for update. Many thanks, S
  20. Thank you for the info although I wish it was better news! 22 months is a long time, I understand they centralised all their offices into one in NSW which is probably part of the problem.
  21. Hi, I am a new member and we have applied for a 143 visa and believe this could take 12-18 months, does anyone know how long it is taking at the moment? How long does it take from being assigned a case officer which I believe to be after 12months in the queue? We are in our late 60's so want to join our family ASAP.
  22. Many thanks, we will do our best to keep fit and healthy!
  23. I am new to this site, we have applied for contributory parent visas which look like taking around 18 months, can anyone tell me what the medicals require, we are well thankfully but in our mid and late 60's and are concerned we might develop some health condition that may prevent our visas from being issued. As our daughters and only grandchild live in Oz we are anxious to join them but planning is a nightmare not knowing when and if we will get visas. Pensions to transfer, house to sell etc. any advice gratefully received!
