  1. Our daughter received e-mail today to pay AoS bond at the bank. It says that she is responsible for providing support to the assures, so there is no need for them to claim payment from Centrelink. Why then do they need a $14000 bond with a meagre return of only 2.5% ? Geoff & Gill
  2. Just heard from our daughter who is on holiday in Queensland, that she has had her Centrelink phone call interview. 6 weeks roughly from AoS application, not bad going! Geoff & Gill
  3. Does anyone know why the automatic response from Parent Visa Centre quotes “assessing officer” for 143 but then refers to “case officer” for 864? Are they the same. Geoff & Gill
  4. There are different version of 600 Visa it seems. One is 12 mths in 18, another is like ours which is 12 mths from date of each arrival, must not enter after 3rd May 2018, multiple travel facility. Unfortunately it seems when you apply there is no knowing of which version you’ll get. We’ve been here 9 mths, hoping to get Visa by June! Geoff & Gill. ( found how to update)
  5. How do we update timeline. It’s been so long, we’ve forgotten how !
  6. Finally managed to apply for UK Police checks, albeit on different days owing to their payment problems. Today our daughter spent only 15 minutes in the queue at Greensborough Centrelink lodging AoS and medicals are booked for Monday 26th February.... fingers crossed for pass marks ?. Forms 80 also completed. Off next week to Bali to extend our 600 visas and the waiting continues. Geoff & Gill
  7. Have you managed to submit your UK police checks? We tried to do ours Tuesday but when we got to payment, it wouldn’t take our debit cards. It seems that they are having problems with their payment provider. Their ‘contact page’ states that they have no idea when problem will be resolved! We have done our Australian ones, which were applied online and we heard the next day that certificates are on their way! All the UK police website suggests is to keep trying, which means filling in the form over and over again! We’ve been doing this for three days now, and now are having issues uploading proofs. Very frusted Geoff& Gill ?
  8. Our daughter and son respectively live either side of the airport (Greensborough & Caroline Springs). It takes them about 30 mins to get into Melbourne. We have bought off plan in a new development at Diggers Rest and have found that the house prices are half the equivalent value of our house which we sold in the south east of England. We have shared our time between our children, whilst the house is being built ( we’re on a 600 Visa). Regarding supermarket shopping, some things are dearer, some cheaper. The western suburbs of Melbourne are definitely cheaper than eastern suburbs. Maybe those who are finding house prices/renting expensive could look at buying off plan ie house and land packages Just a thought Gill & Geoff
  9. We heard from our agent last night to submit Police check, medicals, form 80 and AoS! It was stressed to us that we do not as yet have a case officer but to get the ball rolling, especially the AoS........ We queried whether we needed the Australian Police check, as we hadn’t fulfilled previous 12 months in 10 years prior to lodgement, but was advised it’s a bit of a grey area, and as we are now in Oz on 600 Visa, it would be advisable to get one. 10. Hi Amp, The main reason I applied for Victorian licence ‘10year $270’ ish is that my UK licence will run out February owing to the big 70 birthday. I just turned up at Vicroads Office and completed application, everything was fine until I filled out the bit “was I on any prescribed medication”, well as most of the UK over 60 is on some form of cholesterol tablet, and or blood pressure tablet, I completed the form with detail, so they took my money and handed me a form to be signed by my GP. So that was my next job. Find a GP ‘Bulk Billing’ best bet, after a blood test a quick poke and a prod, the next day he signed me as fit to drive “cost $75” in fact I have the same certificate as any self respecting Uber driver requires to drive for a living, ha ha result ! Regarding UK licence, yes I still have, in fact for some reason I got away with not having a hole punched in it, as is normal. Come February If I do get the 143 Visa then won’t need UK licence any more. Geoff & Gill
  11. Hi Amp, we moved over on a 600 in June and my husband got an Au driving licence and bought our car in August. He went through several insurance companies, declaring everything regarding status including 600 Visa and previous driving history. After previous NCB was taken into account, standard excess was $650, additional excess for listed drivers was $400, $1400 for unlisted drivers incase of a claim. The company is GIO. In addition he’s also joined RACV which is local to Victoria which has many finanacial benefits attached. I’m sure that each state has their own type of branch. ps my husband is 69yrs old Geoff & Gill
  12. Hi, sorry to muck up your list, we applied 9.6.2017 ? Geoff & Gill
  13. Maybe they’ve increased the staff numbers! They took some away a few months ago I believe to assist in homeland security. Geoff & Gill
  14. Many congratulations, you must be so relieved that at long last you finally have your Visa, Geoff &Gill
  15. Sounds a good idea! ?? We have our 8 and 5 year old grandsons to look after next week for school holidays whilst their Dad is at work and our daughter is away on a course for a week, so will definitely be up for that! Geoff & Gill
  16. Flybuys is a for Coles, Target, Kmart Sent from my iPhone using PomsinOz
  17. We insured with ANZ Plus.com. We've used them the last two/three years! Geoff and Gill
  18. We may be wrong, but I think that you are only allowed FRIB approval ( ours cost $5000) to buy residential building land off plan, to be built on within 4years. Don't think you're allowed to purchase existing property at all until you have residency. Make sure you check with FRIB/ATO first, as estate agents / conveyances are not well versed with the rules Geoff & Gill
  19. Hi, we've recently had a nightmare with Moneycorp.com(Australia). Unfortunately their whole procedure has changed for customers living in Australia, not for the better. Prior to the change we could book a rate of exchange and arrange the funds via debit card. Now for some reason you have to add funds to account before selecting a rate which defeats the object of being able to deal on line. Just recently we transferred a large amount of money to try and book a rate and the money went into a black hole for 48 hours! Also Moneycorp only deal during UK office hours! We bank with NAB , do you know if they accept Transferwise transactions at nil cost? Geoff & Gill
  20. Hi, either day would suit us.School holidays will be over by then and we will be free to go into the city ? Geoff & Gill
