  1. Hi Sadge I'm not getting replies either - hopefully tomorrow! They're probably still tucking into their mince pies etc! Happy New Year to you and yours. Steve
  2. Happy Christmas fellow sufferers in the waiting room. No visa under the tree - damn it!! Enjoy yourselves everyone and rest up 2016 could be a big amazing year! Very best wishes Steve
  3. Hi Julie Yes it's a tricky decision, we're glad we sold but can't wait to leave the rental. Hope you have a great Christmas and that we all get the present from immi that we really really want! 2016 could be so exciting for us all. Like you we just want our medicais out of the way. Take care Steve
  4. Hi Julie Yes I agree with all that. By the way Perth is beautiful, but all of Australia is by the looks of it. Any joy on your house sale? Cheers Steve
  5. Hi Keith That sounds interesting, hadn't thought about house sitting. Perhaps you could pm me some details? We're over in January for a few weeks. What's your timeline for the long wait? Regards Steve
  6. Just a word of warning I don't think they'll accept a sterling bankers draft it has to be a bankers cheque in Australian dollars.
  7. Hi Linda That would be good I'll PM you if that's ok Cheers Steve
  8. Hi We're heading to Perth if we get our visa's. Currently stuck in sunny Colchester!! Take care Steve
  9. Hi Linda We're intending to stay with our son and his wife at first in Wannaroo, then we hope to buy in the Yanchep area, don't know anything about schools in the area as we don't have that issue. We too will have to get some work, so in a similar position to you. We're going over in January for yet another recci! When are you going over there? Good luck Steve
  10. For what it's worth I think with the payment of the second VAC the safest and surest way is to send the money over electronically via Moneycorp or such like to either your Australian bank account (if you have one yet) or your relatives and then get them to raise the bankers cheque and arrange for secure delivery, this takes most of the worry out of the transaction. Many people on the forum have done this successfully; personally we have arranged for our son to be a signatory on our Aussie bank account and then he can sort it all out for us when/if the time comes. Hope this helps. Steve
  11. Afraid so Would be better to have a more personal service, especially with the amount of money we are having to part with! What part of Perth are you heading to, we're hoping to be there too. Cheers Steve
  12. Hi I believe you can only send payments or documents to the parent centre in Perth by courier or registered mail as they do not offer a counter service or accept personal visitors. They do however accept various documents by email as long as they're PDF files. It should be quite safe to send a bankers cheque (they don't call them drafts) by courier or registered post with a covering letter. Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong! Regards Steve
  13. Hi Joe Yes it is disappointing progress, but at least it is progress. It's a good job they don't have a question on the application pack asking if we have the patience of a saint!! Cheers Steve
  14. Hi Joe No worries. Rental is ok but not home and we don't want to make it home for obvious reasons, hopefully we'll only be here another 6 months or so. Cheers Steve
  15. Hi all The auto reply to the "test" email this morning says they're now assessing for finalization 143's lodged 6 January 2014. Cheers Steve

  18. Hello all The "test" reply from immi this morning says they're assessing up to 16 December 2013, it also states in bold type that they do not close for 10 days over Christmas and new year. It also says that there are 7175 contributory visas for year 2015/6 for onshore and offshore applicants. Good news or bad?! Cheers Steve
  19. Hi Kim Yes seems like pigeon steps; just looked through my old emails and noticed that on 2 November 2014 they were assessing for 9 April 2013, so in almost a year they have only gone forward some 8 months. Regards Steve
  20. Hi all Auto reply to the "test" email today says they're assessing up to 10 December 2013 now. Some progress then Cheers Steve
