  1. Hi Marie! I paid with an english card and was debited exactly £1700. That was back in February. Hope that helps?
  2. I'm glad you pointed that out, i was just starting to flap, haha. The volume of applications for this year must be huge?
  3. Hi Pom Queen! Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. I am aware of skill360 and an other company in Townsville called Torgas. I was wondering if anyone had first hand experiences with these companies, and how adult apprentices are received by the business they deal with. Thanks, Lee.
  4. Hi All! I've just been granted a partner visa, sub-class 100, so i have permeant residency in Australia. My family and i are moving to Townsville and i've been thinking about doing an adult apprenticeship in air conditioning and refrigeration. I come from a construction management background but don't really enjoy the office side of the industry anymore, and i would like to spend more time with my family, hence the change. Has anyone one had any experience with the adult apprenticeship schemes in Australia? I was just wondering how easy it is to secure an apprenticeship for the older generations (i'm 34), haha! Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Lee.
  5. Hi Leftyandstumpy! I lodged my application through the immi account system and have had regular contact with the immigration department throughout. Contact however has not always been direct with my CO, a lot of the e-mail responses i have received have been signed "on behalf" of my CO. However they have always been helpful in answering any quires i may have had. A couple of weeks after i had completed the application process my wife found out about a possible employment opportunity in Australia, she expressed interest and had a positive response from the perspective employer. However this means that she would have to be in Australia this coming October, which caused concern to us, considering that i did not know if my visa would be granted at all, or in that timeframe. I explaining this situation to my CO and got the following response, "Your visa will be granted, provided there are no adverse changes to your circumstances, such as police convictions, a relationship breakdown or health concerns". The processing time until the actual grant date is still around 8 to 9 months from date of lodgement. This is not an exact figure, so it may take longer, however if I am able to grant the visa sooner I will let you know immediately." My advice to anybody that has not heard anything from their CO, and has completed the application process, is to get in touch with their CO and just ask the question. At the end of the day this is a life changing decision, and one that people have a lot riding on. I'm sure the department understand this and should be willing to alleviate some of your worries/concerns? Hope that helps?
  6. Thanks. :-) I done my application myself through the immi site. So I have been able to talk with my CO, who has told me my application is good and I just need to wait for a grant date now. So I've been put at ease :-) I know it's just a waiting game now. I'm sure you will be ok now. I'm sure you would have heard by now if there was any problems with your application. :-)
  7. I guess your CO will let you know once he/she can grant you visa. I know partner visas are taking 8-9 months to grant, at the moment. There's no harm in sending you CO an e- mail, asking how your application is progressing. Good luck :-)
  8. No news us good news I guess. The partner visas are taking around 8-9 months at the moment. So I guess you'll hear once they are able to grant your visa. There's no harm in sending your CO an e- mail though, I'm sure he will let you know how your application is progressing.
  9. Hi! I applied end of February and don't expect to have my visa granted until at least end of October. As far as I can gather you are looking at 8-9 months. I think we might get lucky at the 8 month mark as the Australian financial year starts 1st July, meaning that the quota for the year has been re-set. Fingers crossed and good luck. Have you been requested to undergo your medical and carry out your police check yet? If not I think you need contact you CO. What visa are you applying for?
  10. Hi All! I've been lurking for a while so i thought i would get involved. I applied for my partner visa (BC 100) back in February of this year, I've completed police checks/medicals etc etc. My CO has told me that i am going to be granted the visa and it is just a case of waiting now , he's quoted 8-9 months, which seems to be the standard response. The waiting is killing me, haha! I'm hoping my visa will be granted in October so we can get moving. My wife may have a job in QLD starting this October, so i'm hoping my wife and son don't have to leave without me. I would miss them terribly, but it would also be unfortunate for my wife to miss out on such a great job opportunity. Good luck everybody.
  11. Hi! I'm new to the forum and wondered if I could ask a question? I'm just about to start applying for a partner visa to Australia from the uk. I have a little worry. About 10-12 years ago I was arrested for fighting, I had to go to court and I was fined. It was a stupid mistake (I was young). Other than this offence I have never been in trouble with the police. I was just wondering if this would affect my chances of getting a partner visa. Can anyone help, or has anyone been in a similar situation? Thanks, lee.
