  1. Oooh he's a classy one. Just my type. Not.
  2. Woolwich was worse in terms of riots. Rotten EDL and their canvassing of Eltham High Street infuriate me. Wish they would go somewhere else. Ignorant t*%ts.
  3. I'm an Aussie with an English partner, we applied in December on a 309/100. I supplied all my payslips for the last two years, and my P60s as far back as I could. I also wrote a supporting statement stating that we would have X funds to support us (from the sale of UK property until we are both employed. I mentioned my career so far and the research I've done and a comparable salary I could expect. Lastly, I mentioned that we plan for me to go out to Australia and set get a job/ flat etc while hubby works his 3 months notice. My advice is to give as much evidence as possible, and show you've planned how you're going to manage it.
  4. If you let me know roughly what your budget/ wants are I might be able to tell you more, because I've kept a close eye on the CC property market. I'd love to go back and live there one day...
  5. As long as they have taken the money and we're in the system, that's fine with me!
  6. Great, thanks for that. I didn't realise they'd been shut. Much appreciated, I'll stop worrying now...
  7. Thanks all. I asked my endocrinologist if he would write me a letter when the time comes. He got a little over excited and sent it off just after I posted this thread. The hospital then decided I'd already left the country and cancelled all my future appointments. I got them all reinstated, and I have a copy if the referral letter, so I just hope it all goes to plan once we finally get to Australia!
  8. Hi I grew up on the Central Coast, so I know it fairly well. Niagara Park, Narara and Lisarow are all on the train line between Newcastle and Sydney. They aren't very close to the beach, but the good news is that you can easily drive to many beaches from there. You can drive out to the peninsula to Ocean Beach at Umina, or drive to Terrigal in about 15-20 minutes. All are family type areas. Gosford close by has been in a decline since Erina Fair (the massive shopping centre at Erina) was built in the late 1980s. The local government have tried and tried to regenerate Gosford, but to no avail as yet. That has given that end of town a bit of a bad rep in some ways, but Lisarow, Niagara Park and Ourimbah are all fine. Wyoming has a reputation for being a bit rough. I lived there for a year in 1998, and had no trouble at all. If you are planning to commute to Sydney for work, you could also look at Tuggerah, Woy Woy, Umina, Berkeley Vale and Killarney Vale - these are all easy access to train stations. One thing to be aware of is that the trains that stop at the minor stations (Ourimbah to Narara) are all the slow trains. The fast trains will stop Tuggerah - Gosford - Woy Woy etc. Berkeley Vale and Killarney Vale are towards the northern end of the Central Coast, but are decent places to live. Bateau Bay still has some affordable properties - but on the west side, all the ones near the beach have been snapped up. If you have any more questions, feel free to PM me, I'm happy to answer any questions you have. Good luck
  9. Hi All Apologies if this thread is elsewhere. My hubby applied for the 309/100 Partner Visa on 4 December 2013. The fee was taken from our account on 5 December, but as yet we haven't had any contact or acknowledgement from the Australian High Commission in London. We had to submit in paper form because the electronic submission was unavailable due to 'maintenance'. I've read a few threads on here, and people seem to say it takes ten days. Even with Christmas it has been a lot longer than that. Should we chase them up? Cheers
  10. I'm Australian by birth, and have lived in the UK for almost 15 years. Me and my other half are planning to put his application (47SP/ 40SP) in in November with the view of moving this time time next year. I have a chronic condition - hypopituitarism - which I developed in the UK after a pituitary tumour was found and treated. I need full spectrum hormone replacement. My Endocrinologist has told me I need to be under the care of a consultant Endocrinologist at a teaching hospital when we move. Does anyone else have experience of moving with a chronic condition? How did you negotiate getting the right care/ consultant for your condition? I have previously tried seeing an endocrinologist near where my parents live in Australia, but they were less than helpful. I'm a bit nervous of moving over without having anything set up before we leave... Any advice will be greatly received.
