  1. If your occupation in on SOL and if you have 60 points, then you apply for 189. This visa will allow to live in any state in Oz and there is no restriction. Apologies but I can't remember the rules around 489 (it's been sometime) and the occupation. The only thing I know on 489 is that the priority is very low. I initially applied for 489 family sponsor but due low priority, I never got the invitation. 189/190 visas very given the priority. Note, I'm not an expert in this visa. I'm just sharing my experience.
  2. GezMeg, I applied for Victoria SS 190 for ICT BA. I got exactly the same reject message as you. As someone above said, they are being very selective. I then applied to SA SS directly. At the same time, I updated my EOI to make sure I selected SA for SS (have to do this otherwise they will not consider you) Within a week (normal process early March said 2 weeks processing time..not sure how much it is now), I got the SA SS and got an invitation to apply for the visa. I am currently waiting for CO. Note - SA doesn't require your CV however they do ask for you specify the reasons asto why you want to move to SA. I did some research and put 5-6 points together. Best of luck.
  3. I lodged the 190 visa on 22nd March 2014. Note, I applied for the SS separately and got the invitation on 18-March-2014. I have uploaded most docs. Just waiting for Police Certification and medicals to do.
  4. Gayle, to be on the safe side, you should have them certified. I had all my docs certified even the colour ones. This just saves time in the long run and a peace of mind. It cost me £2 for non-photo and £5 for photo certification. I'm in NW London.
  5. I submitted my visa just over a week but I didn't see anywhere about form 80. Even after submitting the visa, I see a list of documents marked as 'recommended' but form 80 is not in the list. I'm applying for 190. Is form 80 applicable to all visas?
  6. Hi, I applied for 190 and SA came back in 1 week. Their normal processing time for 190 is 2 weeks. On the immi website under the 'Age' section for 190, it states: "You can receive up to 30 points based on the age you were on the day you were invited to apply." It's been more than 2 weeks already, you should contact SA and ask for an update. I spoke to them couple of times before making the application and they we're very helpful. Maybe mention the age concern as you will loose 5 points. Hope the above helps.
  7. Hi, I'm in the process of uploading documents but have few questions on certain docs. 1. In my EOI, I uploaded my skills assessment, degree certificate\transcript and work references. In the 'recommended' list of documents, it states I need to upload Evidence of skills assessment\qualifications\work experience. Do I need to upload these documents here again? Has anyone done this? 2. Evidence of custody. This document is under my wife's section. Since the entire family will be migrating together, assuming this document is not relevant for me. Please confirm? 3. For my 2 children, it's asking for Evidence of relationship \ Evidence of Birth. Can I upload the birth certificate twice or is once enough under 'Evidence of Birth'? 4. Also for my 2 children, it had 'Evidence of Member of Family Unit'. I'm assuming this is not relevant and applies to those that have adopted the children. Please confirm. Thanks in advance.
  8. Thanks Rupert. Tickled Pink, as you mentioned, this is a forum for people like me to get advice. Yes, I do have lots of questions as I want to make sure I am prepared as much as possible since a small mistake can reject\decline my visa. Like most people asking questions, this overall migration process is extremely important and cannot afford (not just financially) to make any mistakes as the consequences will affect my family's future. If by asking for advice and being due-diligence (even if you feel it's hand-holding), you feel it's asking too much in this forum, then you should re-consider your involvement in this forum. If it helps, please avoid reading my posts and\or even replying to them especially if it's not constructive. Not everyone can afford an agent.
  9. Hi, Does anyone know if health assessment and/or police certificate (character statement) is mandatory for children (ages 8 and 11)? Thanks
  10. Hi, I have submitted my visa application for 190. On the Immi account, there are a number of documents (e.g., Evidence of Birth \ Character \ Qualifications \ Work experience \ Health \ etc.,) and for each document in the 'Progress' column, it states 'Recommended'. However, above the list of documents, it states: "Not all evidence listed below may be required. Check the attachment checklist for guidance. Any evidence with Progress of 'Required' must also be attached." The checklist mentions most of the documents above. Which list should I refer to? Also, do I need to upload all the docs including the skills assessment \ work declaration/reference? I'm just confused. Thanks in advance
  11. I checked the immigration website which has driving license, marriage certificate, national id cards, few others in the list to select from. As xlornax mentioned, in the UK we don't have 'national ids' as such. Passport, driving license or anything that has a picture and name is used as ids. For those who have completed the visa application, what did you select?
  12. I'm based in the UK. One of the questions on the visa application form is: National identity documents - Does this applicant have national identity documents? What is this national id document apart from the passport?
  13. Hi, I received an invitation and am in the process of completing the visa application. However, I need help in understanding some questions. Does anyone know if there is a document\help somewhere in the immigration website or anywhere else that can help assist in understanding each question? I don't have an agent (costs too much) and am going through the entire process myself. Thanks in advacne
  14. I have no idea. I called up Victoria state and all they could say was that the 'industry panel' who reviewed my cv thought I couldn't get a job. I just had to laugh. I asked couple of other questions but the lady I spoke to didn't have any answers. So, I wrote an email to the state asking for more clear response as to the reason. Also, requested for someone to re-review my cv and if they still felt the same then provide more details as to exactly is lacking. Personally, I think there's someone else going on.
  15. Hi, There's a question in the EOI where they ask "Would the client be prepared to live outside an Australian capital city". My question is in specific to state sponsorship 190 (not 489, live and work in suburbs). If I select Yes and I am invited to apply for the visa, does this mean I HAVE to live outside the city? Can I live outside the city but can work in the city? Please advice.
  16. I'm looking to migrate on a permanent basis with family. I don't have enough for 189 visa. I'm looking at 190 visa only. I've considered 457 but it's hard to find a job from UK. Spoke to few agencies as well and they've all said contact us once you have a visa.
  17. I can apply to SA but preferred Melbourne since the job prospects is much better. I signed the 2 year commitment as well. I was so confident I would be selected purely based on experience and financially. I will ask Victoria about their reason. Need to give it a shot before thinking on plan B. Thanks both for your response.
  18. Hi, My SS application with Victoria was rejected stating the below reason despite meeting the minimum requirements which they have confirmed: "While your application demonstrated your ability to meet the minimum eligibility requirements for Victorian state nomination, other applicants were able to more adequately demonstrate their suitability for employment in Victoria." I provided all the relevant documents including all the references and my CV. I have been continuously employed for 20 years across various employers of which 10+ years (references provided covering these years) has been of a Business Analyst. The financial criteria is also met 10 times over. Received successful skills assessment. So, how can someone 'demonstrate their suitability for employment'? I would have thought my experience and continuous employment would have been sufficient. Has anyone received similar message or know what this may mean? I'm shocked by the response. Thanks in advance
  19. Hi, When each report is produced after the invitation rounds, the occupation ceiling figures are updated. I am slightly confused on how this quotas\ceiling figures are updated. Are the figures updated based on invitations for visa 189 and/or 190 and/or 489? Thanks
  20. Thank you both for your response. Not really sure why the state has such criteria especially when there such a low chance of anyone getting the invitation\visa via this route.
  21. Hi, Reading the criteria on schedule 2, the key one is where I must have a 12-month job offer. I have submitted my EOI and am waiting for the invite. Now, my understanding is that I will not receive an invite unless I have a 12-month job offer in place. Speaking to some agents and looking at job sites, majority of the employers will not consider anyone unless they have a relevant visa already. How can someone meet this job offer on schedule 2 criteria? Has anyone on schedule 2 received a visa? If so, how did you find the job and invite? Please correct me if I have not understood the process. Thanks in advance
