  1. We stayed in a double room in Nomads Pitt Street several years ago now. It was called 'the love shack' at the time. It was more expensive but was clean and convenient! It was a while ago but worth checking out
  2. My fur baby Bilbo :cute:
  3. Actually a lot of income protection premiums are tax deductible I received 30% of mine and my husbands premium back this year. https://www.ato.gov.au/Individuals/Income-and-deductions/Deductions-you-can-claim/Other-deductions/Income-protection-insurance/
  4. Reading this has just made me feel a little bit better! I have been in Sydney for just over 3 months now and I have been struggling. My husband is desperately trying to be supportive but doesn't relaly know how to react when I get upset because I miss things or get angry at silly little things that are different to "home"! He is Australian and was in the UK for 8 years but alot of his friends are either still here or are people that have moved back that he met in the UK. These people are my friends too don't get me wrong but it not quite the same so I am feeling alone. We also living in Kellyville at the moment which is very different to coming from Epsom where we lived with pretty much everything on our doorstep! I started a job that was a lot of travel (Kellyville to Cronulla each day about 4hrs in the car a day!) and that was really getting me down, however I have found another job and start that on Monday which is much closer and is a larger company (in hope that I will met some more people!) so I am feeling more positive following that! It is reassuring to know other people are feeling similar and I am not going crazy! I feel like I am getting there but then it is like flicking a switch sometimes and all of a sudden I am upset again! All ina ll at the moment I think we made the right decision and the plans we have for the short term and exciting. Sorry that was pretty much just a waffle about me and not really any advice or anything!!
  5. After my email last week from my CO saying my grant was on it's way I have finally received the actually grant email!!! :jiggy: I guess around 8 and half months. I got granted the 100 as well which is great. i really wasn't sure as although we have been together for the time the CO asked for more evidence of us being together at the early stages which was difficult as we were in a shared house etc with not much in our names!! Super excited! Now a couple of weeks of proper organisation before we go without having to worry about visa!! Congrats as well to everyone else granted recently!!!
  6. It sort of paid off, CO said visa was due to be granted and to email again if grant email not received early next week! Just puts my mind at rest!!
  7. I decided to nudge my CO so I am hoping I might have some news soon!!! Or get put to the bottom of the pile, who knows!
  8. Unfortunately not yet!! Still hope for today! I have had such a bad day (all 5hrs of it so far) and the grant email would really make it better!!!
  9. I know this...... and yet I just can't not!!! Every day I wake up and I am like right today is the day it will arrive! Perhaps today is indeed that day!!!!
  10. Haha I am checking constantly - I am sure my productivity at work has hit rock bottom! With refreshing emails every 2 seconds and checking on here in-between!!! It has certainly been a while since seeing grants on here!
  11. I unfortunately cannot help with your questions but I am keen to know the answers too. I have been offered the opportunity to do some consultancy and project work when we first arrive which would be great to tide me over whilst getting a new job.
  12. I am at the 8 month mark as well so just waiting and hoping! They did seem to be moving a bit quicker just before Christmas as some people were getting granted around the 7 month mark but maybe Christmas slowed things down a little! Well hopefully soon! I don't fly until 9th March so still have some time but it would be one thing less to worry about!
  13. So did I but their website only says closed on Friday 24th for bank hol so not sure!
  14. Ah I just looked on the Australia House website and it is closed today! So certainly won't be getting it today!! :arghh: But the good news is that it doesn't say that it is shut on Monday so maybe.........
  15. I think I am going to explode with all this waiting! Going by other peoples time line I should get my grant today! But nothing.....yet! I have not succeeded in any work today as I have just been sitting refreshing my emails! It is amazing how much junk you get when you just want that one email!!!!
  16. Congrats Lucyh88 fantastic news! I am keeping a close eye on everyone as I am 23rd May applicant so as soon as you are through I should be next!! eek excited!
  17. Thanks for your response, that is what I thought would be the case! No nothing medical to worry about just heard horror stories from other people that documents were either never received by CO or were overlooked and therefore thought a follow up to confirm would be sensible to put mind at rest! Otherwise yes just looking forward to the waiting as have a few more months to wait yet!!!
  18. Hello all, I undertook medical on 2nd September and as I have not heard anything from the docs I make the assumption all is ok and these have been passed straight on to High Commission. Did anyone receive a confirmation that these had been received? I am thinking about emailing SV to check everything has now been received including medical a but don't want to appear pestering! Any tips on how long I should leave it before checking this? Thanks
  19. Hi, I finally submitted my partner visa application to London office and have been assigned a CO (SV) additional information was requested for evidence of a long term relationship and apply for a permanent visa instead of temporary. Has this ever happened to anyone else, we have only been married a year but together for 5, is this a good sign? I assume it is?? I was also requested not to have my medical until after August is this normal to have to wait? when I came home today I have had my birth certificate, our marriage certificate and copies of photos cards etc returned. I assume this means that our application has been read and assessed as it is? Did this happen to any one else? I was hoping the stress would subside once I handed the application in but now I am feeling paranoid and confused! any advice welcomed! thank you
  20. Hi thank you for your response! We have 2 stat decs already with us just not with the certified passports (a complete oversight by me!) They are both Australian citizens (one living in Oz and one in England). We do have quite a lot of evidence we have been married over a year but together for 5 years so have a joint accounts, bills, tenancy agreements, travel docs, photos etc etc so I guess they would be less important.
  21. Ok - right I am sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere but I am new to this and couldn't seem to find in the searches! I am British, married to an Australian who has British Citizenship. We have decided we would like to go to Oz and I have almost finished pulling together the Partner offshore visa (subclass 309). Anyway we pretty much have everything we need, except the certified passports to go with the statutory declarations from our friends. Seeing that the processing time is between 8/9 months at Australia House London at the moment I want to get this in as soon as possible as we are looking to go March 2014. Therefore should I submit without the stat decs noting that they are to follow or should I wait and hope that the certified copies arrive soon? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Although this is my first post this forum has already be invaluable in advice in getting the rest of the application together! Thank you in advance!
