  1. They're all poms or Europeans somewhere down the line!!!
  2. The poms aren’t the ones with their filth encrusted cracked feet on show all year round. Savages.
  3. Have you thought about going regional?
  4. Hmmm confusing. Super is extra to aged pension yes?
  5. Don’t write off an older property. They throw them up these days and perhaps not built to same quality and standards? A 90s build looks modern enough still. Our house is 70s built modernised property and we’ve lived here happily for 10 years with minimal maintenance (touch wood) We are on 760sqm. They flog blocks in our neighbourhood and put 3 units on them. Agree with caution re building right now. Costs are sky rocketing. Delays with our build which are not so much of a problem for us but glad we got it organised when we did. A lot of older property just needs cosmetic work done, to turn into something quite special. You’d get all the relevant inspections done pre sale anyway.
  6. Received my UK Pension forecast today in the post. It says I'll get $179.60 a week if I continue paying NI for 19 years (doesn't tell me how to do this or how much though) If I leave it as is I'll get $86.48 a week. Does that sound right? Is the AU pension reduced if you also get your UK Pension? In other words is it worth A) claiming at all and B) topping up?
  7. You can always buy something less shiny often with a bigger block if you're prepared to sacrifice all mod cons. You have to buy within your budget and do it up as you go.
  8. Me too. Unless going rural
  9. This dude is easily mid 50s to early 60s.... He clearly never quite ‘got there’
  10. The only thing that disturbs my peace in the suburbs is the idiots doing burnouts. We have a particularly moronic individual living about 50 m away who thinks it's great fun to hoon up and down our close. He's feral as they come though so confrontation isn't wise. Police had his wife for drink driving recently. Luckily our close neighbours are all fairly benign.
  11. Oh Parley....that's the most boring thing on the menu...very Aussie though
  12. Relateable story. Congrats on the new bub and your amazing new opportunities! Roll on Spring!
  13. Ummm yes. He’s happy to share though.
  14. I do that sometimes but like a change. I take a long time to consider the options and generally order at the last minute when everyone else has placed theirs and I need to decide. I usually get food envy and want what the other person/s have. Indecisive.
  15. Are you one of those that wants to order immediately on being seated? I like to peruse the menu over a drink for half an hour first...
  16. Poor thing. You sound like my old Dad. I can sit for unlimited hours chit chatting. I think 3 hours is an average and 5 a recent limit.
  17. It was about a quarter full and the time limit was 2 hours. (If fullly booked) We sat down at 6.30pm. I don't bother with 60 or even 90 min sittings. It's pointless. We go to dinner to socialise and enjoy a leisurely meal not bolt our dinner and rush home.
  18. A good day for finding British imports. Reject shop had a lot of Tesco stuff at cheap prices, all in date....then Farmer Jacks and some imported choc and crisps....
  19. Just uncivilized brutes in Perth....
  20. Went out for early dinner last night to a local pub (school night) They turned the lights off on us (accidentally) at 9.15 Gotta love suburban Perth nightlife
  21. I did manage to contact them online after advice on here and they sent me a form which I sent back. Just waiting for my letter in the post now. Surprisingly I can remember my NI number no problem.
  22. We know when there are goings on in our street. I live with the world biggest curtain twitcher. Could identify all the neighbours in a line up. I don’t pay that much attention. He’s writing down plate numbers and spotting trends....thwarted detective....gets a bit tiresome but he’s usually right.
