  1. I do too. It’s our go to for a girly afternoon pub crawl. We sometimes get the ferry across to South Perth and do the Windsor for one. Nice atmosphere but no views. Agree not always easy to snag perfect outdoor spot at the Island but once you do it’s just perfection.. Menu a bit limited but nice food all the same and cocktails not bad. The tap beers are a bit meh considering it’s meant to be a brewery? We went to Mandoon brewery in the valley today, impressed by the ales, they seem to have upped their game lately. Hadn’t been for a few years. Lucky Shag is just ‘ok’.
  2. We like the Aviary. The Island at Elizabeth Quay is THE most perfect spot for a Sunday session, as is the rooftop bar at Reveley.
  3. I'd agree with that. Lived here coming up 13 years. Fremantle, Leederville etc busier than Perth CBD at weekend. Elizabeth Quay has a lovely vibe but very chilled and nothing like I'd imagine Sydney to be though not been so cannot compare. Almost anywhere in Perth is going to be great for bringing up young kids. I'd agree with poster above that Freo and surrounds are most likely to tick all boxes. (Yours and your childs)
  4. Whenever I try to book there's no availability?
  5. Yes.. The barb went into his heart..terrible..
  6. You got that right. That's one of the potential limiting factors in when we can move.
  7. After all these years still never made it to Rotto.

  9. I'm not sure if these ones are particularly dangerous? At least 1m across. There was uproar a few years back when a fisherman caught and killed a well know ray called stumpy if I remember rightly. So named because he only had half a tail. They've basically been tamed and come in to be hand fed (though it's discouraged) They always draw a crowd and I've never seen anyone being silly.
  10. Cosy Corner Augusta Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse Busselton Jetty
  11. Hamelin Bay, is that where the stingrays come up to the shore for a pat and a tickle? Its been a while for us down that way and onto Augusta several years ago. If so, we have been there and loved it and we also did the pat and tickle thing. A surreal experience and a beautiful setting along the shoreline there as I recall. You park in the carpark (of course) then make your way over the sand hills and onto the beach (??). That was 5 years ago at least, but we still remember the stingrays and the fact that we were 4000 km from home and loving it. Edited 49 minutes ago by Dusty Plains @Dusty Plains Yes, the locals love it too. Every time we go down we spot them. My son snorkelled with them a few years back. I'll post some pics
  12. Bumping this thread for anybody who’s interested.
  13. Sounds like constructive dismissal to me. If the reason you are looking to leave is your boss and feeling uncomfortable around him? If other factors are at play in your wanting to leave the current employer then agree with Blu Flu.
  14. Are you qualified? What field? I'm sure you'd find a job. Contact different trusts to see if they're hiring. Use the job search websites (seek equivalent) Pre covid UK trusts were doing recruitment campaigns here but that all stopped, not sure if that means they are still looking or not.
  15. So hubby made a batch of Staffordshire oatcakes today. Unbeknownst to us it's actually National Oatcake Day in the UK! Good timing!
  16. Thanks Quoll. Trying to get prepared after some news yesterday. I’m not sure my husband will do well on his own. A complicating factor is communication is poor.
  17. Hi all. Looking for a bit of advice from anyone who has travelled back to UK to see sick relative. I understand the relative must be ‘first degree’ ie Mother, Father or sibling. Is there capacity for the partner of the person travelling to also travel? We may need to return to UK for my husbands Father in near future. Will I be able to accompany him?
  18. I wonder where they came from? On a lot of breakfasts here. Potato cakes are traditional though? Scottish?
  19. It’s lower calories than regular milk and I’m trying to reduce my dairy intake. High dairy intake is associated with several disease processes.
  20. We stayed at the Doubletree in April. Thought the breakfast was fine. Not a massive choice and slow to refill (understaffed)
  21. They are delicious. Made to go with bacon and cheese, sausage and cheese, cheese and tomato, just cheese or any savoury combo you like. I like to keep mine simple. Good smoked bacon and cheese. Historically there waa a hole in the wall oatcake shop baking fresh oatcakes (and pikelets) on many a street corner in Stoke on Trent and surrounds. Sadly not many left but still a massive thing for people from Staffordshire. A traditional breakfast item. Some people try to fancy them up and use sweet ingredients but that's not for me.
  22. No, they're oatcakes. A leavened oat wrap.
  23. Pretty much yes. Food of the Gods
