Long story! hubby works in geebung and is an electrician, two boys aged 4 and 2. Xx
  3. There re is a thread called what's happening at AHPRA which may be worth a read! At the moment there are people who applied in 2013 who still haven't heard!
  4. Hey everyone, I am too in the same situation. Living in oz on a P R. Patiently awaiting to hear something. Someone mentioned getting the press involved or unions. I don't understand how they can give a visa on the qualification but then not register. Unless they want to encourage people to claim benefits. Has anyone actually contacted ANMAC to question? Xxxx
  5. Hi everyone! Well we are here! Arrived in Melbourne 2nd may. Had a holiday in Melbourne then traveled up the east coast, visiting friends in Sydney and carried on to Brisbane! Hubby got a job in 5 days and we have bought a car and we have just got a rental in Eatons hill. Can't believe how smooth it's all gone! Which is great as my AHPRA are still messing me about. Just need to get my 4 year old booked in for prep in January at the local school oh and my Medicare cards sorted! How's everyone else getting on? Any new comers to Brisbane fancy a meet up? Please pm me. Hope to see people soon. Xxxxx
  6. Hi everyone, my husband and I (and 2 boys who will be 4 & 2) will be landing in Brisbane early May. I am a nurse and my hubby is an electrician. We have no work lined up so we will also be hitting the ground running. Getting excited but Also very nervous. We have temp accommodation booked or 3 weeks while we try to secure a rental. I'm currently having a nightmare with AHPRA so will have to find work as a carer when we arrive. But we are both thinking its probably best to get hat we can get at first. We won't really know nine out there so would welcome any meet ups from people in a similar situation. Please pm me if interested as I'm still rubbish at using this site. hope to be joining you all soon in the sunshine having a lovely BBQ.
  7. Ok thank you, any advice for competitive companies for health cover? X
  8. Hi myself, hubby, and two boys are coming over in may this year and I was ordering do we need private insurance as well as Medicard? Or holiday insurance until Medicard comes through??? We have a Subclass 189 PR visa. Any replies greatly appreciated. Thanks jody. Xxx
  9. Thanks guys for your reply's. really helpful. it has put my mind at ease and I can start putting a rental pack together. do I need ID Reference personal copy of my mortgage payments in the uk. job offer (when we get one hopefully) is there anything else? We have our own house so I haven't rented for a long time.
  10. Hi I am getting confused!! Doesn't take much  do you need a Medicard to secure a rental? As looking on the websites, the Medicard gets posted to you (so you obviously need accommodation) What ID do you need to secure a rental please. We haven't secured employment yet prior to traveling out so worrying about pennies? Any suburbs around Brisbane which are reasonable price wise just to give us chance to find our feet when we land.
  11. yea definitely! We also do not know anyone. What job do you do? I am a nurse and my husband Dave is an electrician. We are jumping through many hoops at the moment to try and get perspective employment! Excited. We have decided to just go for it but nervous about jobs. Once we find work hopefully everything else will fall into place. Where do you live in the UK? We are in north Wales. Pm me if you want to swop details. regards jody
  12. Hi if you don't mind me asking what nursing does your wife do? regards jody
  13. Hi toodolou Following my file been sent from ANMAC they requested some extra documents to be certified. I paid the local courts for a justice of the peace to authorise and AHPRA stated they were not certified correctly. He had not put his JP number on. Ahpra waited until my closing dte to inform me of this despite having the documnents 3 weeks earlier. The man who signed was a district judge they state that is not correct. However he has sent them an e mail proving he is a justice of the peace and they still closed my application. Disappointed is not the word! So now for the 3 rd time I will be paying for yet another person to sign documents. I am going to pay for notary public - but the local one charges up to £150.00. But I need to get this sorted! so as you can see after bleeding money, I'm reluctant to re apply while there reviewing the process! I had everything sent to the nsw office. I'm contemplating getting them to forward my file to a different office, but not sure if that's frowned upon. I've since been informed that certain offices are really snowed under.
  14. hi captain zeb, i can't help with your questions however would like to say hi! We are also moving to Sydney in May. Although we haven't got jobs etc yet. But flights booked. Not long now! Regards jody
  15. Hi everyone, my family and I have flights booked for 30th April so just planning everything. Yipeeee!!! Really excited about everything but I'm having a nightmare with AHPRA. Have any diploma registered nurses received their AHPRA in the last month? I applied in September and it was cancelled in December due to paperwork problems - long story! I am reluctant to re apply as I have lost my application fee and now the website states they are reviewing the international process. What if I apply again and it is cancelled again as I am diploma not degree! i am currently doing my dissertation and will hand this in soon (hopefully) but will not have a certificate until September stating I have completed. any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!! I actually found the visa process easier than AHPRA! Argggghhh
  16. Well. I'm back to square one! I sent off my application in October! Had an e mail asking for documents to be certified by a justice of the peace, so had all documents sent over and application deadline was Boxing Day. Had an e mail on Boxing Day to state that my application was being cancelled and I would receive no extension. When I phoned they stated that the magistrate had not put his JP number on the documents. I asked if I could re send and she said no! She advices that I wait until they have decided on the national minimum of qualifications! If its degree, I will have to wait until September to reply or apply as an enrolled nurse. At this rate, all my documents I have currently sent out will have expired nd I will be paying for them to be certified again! I'm getting so on fused by it all! Aggggghhhhhhhhhhh! :arghh:
  17. Thanks guys, I think we will clean and disinfect to be on the safe side. Thanks everyone. We have loads to fit in not sure it will, had a bit of a practice run today! Reality check! I will take pictures when we load it. X
  18. Hi everyone, we have paid a deposit for a move cube. I'm worrying a bit about the prep of items like our bikes and tools. I know they need to be cleaned thoroughly but should we disinfect tyres etc, W D 40 tools ? I'm worried as I presume they will check everything if you pack yourself. thanks in advance. X
  19. Thanks everyone it's nice to know your not alone! I have sent mine to NSW. I think it must be due to having solicitors signed them and not a magistrate. Oh well, il be sunning myself soon! Flights are booked! Yippee!
  20. I think they must be busy. Or triple checking everything! I'm really frustrated! I had an e mail this morning stating that despite my entire skills assessment file being sent to there office I have to repeat.... 2 forms of ID can only be signed by justice of the peace, verification of registration again statements of service for past 5 years again! Proof of professional development in past 12 mmonths updated CV! all these documents were originally sent via an agent for my skills assessment and certified! Arggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Sorry to have a winge but really thought this was all done!
  21. I know that feeling Tina, I had to ask a ward sister I used to work for 5 times to do a reference for me. She kept making mistakes, forgetting to sign or put on headed paper etc! It drove me mad, felt like I was never going to have the paperwork together. It was kind of her to do it, but she kept tutting when I sent it back asit had being rejected by my agent. Anyhow got there in the end. I think the skills must be the worst part! Today my agent e mailed me with the news, then contacted me gain later to inform me my EOI has Also being sent today! Yikes! Moving fast now! Xxxx. Good luck with your ward sister, hope you feel better soon. Xxxx
  22. Hooray skills assessment completed today! At last now we can really start planning! Xxxx :biglaugh:
  23. Congratulations nomad I bet it is such a relief! Hope you celebrating with the bubbly or a nice tinny! Good luck to everyone else.xxxxx
  24. Hi Fatah, I applied for full assessment I think. I am using an agent. How are you getting on? They don't make the process easy. But I'm sure it will all be worth it in the end. I'm still in UK at the moment. Good luck to everyone who is currently going through their skills assessments! Xxxx
  25. The wait is killing me! My skills assessment with ANMAC was lodged 15 th February. I still have not had anything through. I had an e mail about 2 weeks ago saying that one of references couldn't be accepted and could I send another. Sent that off last Friday so waiting again. Has this ever happened to people before. It's now being about 14 weeks.x
