  1. Hi I arrive in Sydney in two weeks and after our first week there we are looking at travelling down to Melbourne, i have been looking on the internet and i have found flying to be a cheaper option than getting the coach and it is a lot quicker, But i have also found a good deal on a relocation camper van down to Sydney aswell but i have a couple questions to ask as i am confused by some of the terms that they use and hopefully you will be able to help me out? (there offices are shut so i would of been able to ask them). Is someone able to put this into simple terms for me: 'Travel Restrictions For relocations, all vehicle types (incl. 4wd vehicles) can only be driven on sealed/bitumen roads or well maintained access roads less than 500 metres long to recognized campgrounds. For relocations, night driving (from dusk to dawn) is not permitted anywhere west of a line drawn between Mount Isa and Adelaide. While you are on a relocation rental, if you are found to be driving on unsealed roads, driving in restricted areas and/or night driving west of a line drawn between Mt Isa and Adelaide, you will be fined $1500 by Apollo, even if no damage has occurred to the vehicle.' As in would the above allow me to drive down the coast from Sydney to Melbourne along the great ocean road? or do i have to travel inland? Also it is a 6 birth van, so would it be heavy on the fuel? How much roughly would you think in total would it cost from Sydney to Melbourne (just a quick guess)? Thanks
  2. Thanks everyone for your advise Think going down south sounds like the best option
  3. Hi So at the end of this month me and my friend land in Sydney to spend New Year there, We have booked our hostel to spend a week in Sydney with the plan to travel north from there and deciding where we was going to go when we get there ... But i have read recently people saying that it starts to get to the wet season up north around the Jan/Feb part of the year. Will it still be hot (liveable) and sunny? Or will it start to get miserable? Should we be thinking of travelling down south, do the west then travel to the north east cost around august/september next year and travel back down to Sydney? We also want to obviously travel the right way round Australia to make sure we get work in order to hopefully get our visa extended for another year Hope you can help me with my many questions Thanks in advance
  4. I think how i wrote that came across wrong, What i was trying to say was even though that the posts on here may 'seem' negative as in they was putting a negative on the fact of the user trying to come over to Australia. The points being made was actually true and i believe what everyone was saying I hope that clears it up?
  5. i know i don't have much input into this seeing as i am in a different boat as i am going across on a WHV, But from a outsider view on this thread sure it looks like they are all giving you negative comments . . . But i fully agree with what they are saying about how hard it is to get into Australia, Maybe take all the links that have been provided and actually try and spend some time going over them and know them inside out?
  6. Awesome pictures of the beach! I have been looking on the internet for who to go with for when we land in Aus, and i have found virgin to be the best value for money Handy that they have shops dotted over the place to so will deffo be going into one when we land, About the vodafone lady yea i would presume that she is on commission as thats what they are in the UK?
  7. Yea just print out your bank statement, you got a account set up in Australia?
  8. Havent personally used them as i dont arrive in oz until december, but i have checked out there reviews on trip advisor and all i can see is good comments, i might actually look at using this company when i travel up that way
  9. To be honest sounds like you are already thought about it a lot, Erm couple of things you could look at? -Medicare for use in Australia if you need to visit a hospital -Joining YHA Hostel group thing as if you join there membership you also get discounts to travel via coach/trains, loads of activities etc -Copies of your passport and cvs? Just little things to maybe think about

    Suitcase? WHV

Personally i would go with the rucksack, I have brought a 'Front Opening' one as reading on the internet it sounds easier to get you stuff out of the bag, instead of getting a top loading bag where you have to take loads of stuff out just to get your phone charger for example
  11. Could look at going to a YHA Hostel, If you join there membership thing you save discounts on not only your stay in there hostels, but off coach, train tickets, Days out and many more ... Might be worth looking into

    Banking

Me and my friend signed up for a NAB account through the link at the top of this page and was straight forward process and have even downloaded the NAB app on our phones so it's easier to keep a eye on out money for when we are over in aus. We also set up a moneycorp account again from the link above which allows free transfers from your uk bank account into your aus bank and only take two days to appear in your account Both accounts set up are free
  13.
