Hi Bob I think this is the right way to contact you, sorry if not and please correct me if I am wrong :wink: Anyway, we are going to be moving to Perth within the next year and we are thinking of adding to our fury family as our current cat's sibling is now looking for a home (they're both very young so it would be beneficial to both if they were reunited).anyway my basic question is how much will it cost to ship our cat and how much more will it cost for us to take a 2nd Cat to Perth? We do not want to take her on if it is going to be costing us huge amounts more to take her to OZ with us... They are both pure bred Birman's - will be about 2 at time of travel. Thanks Jen

I just wanted to ask a quick question - I seem to be going round in circles again :arghh: Can you tell me what apart from the sponsorship by the state are the differences between a 189 and a 190 or is it just that? What is the best route to take - Husband is a Carpenter, we want to move to Perth should we get SS or should we just go Independent? So a quick update here......it seems very likely that I will not get a job in the UK once I have finished training so I think the best option is to try and get our Visa's sorted in time for me to apply for the graduate midwifery program in Australia (Perth) to ensure I have a good chance of getting a job in OZ as soon as I qualify.....so we are setting the ball rolling....looking at getting Hubster to do his IELTS exam asap....! How are you getting on Popsrenshaw? How is OH getting on with the Job? Have you settled well? xx

Hi Popsrenshaw!! Thanks for replying lovely! That is great news that you are out there...how long did it finally take from the decision to getting there? It must have felt ages hey? I am pleased you are loving Perth, it really is lush - Scarborough is a nice suburb to be staying in, do you know where up north you would rather be? Has your Hubby got a job yet or is that going to determine where you move to? aaaah questions questions sorry:wacko: I stayed in a suburb close to Scarborough for a month over Christmas and I tell you sat here with snow outside in March, with the middle-end part of the Flu I could swap this any day haha! So I have decided we need to go on Hubby's visa and skill not mine so we can get there quicker.....he needs to take the IELTS and get his skills assessed by vetassess is that what your OH did? It is like we have the same line up/life, would be great to chat and get to know each other too! Are you going to write a blog or anything on your experiences (for personal or public domain) as a record of your time and transition? I really hope all goes super well for you and look forward to hearing about your journey! :hug:

Hi and thank you for the welcomes Paul - thanks for that it really helps! I think both our families and all our close friends know we will probably move to Australia, but I think they reckon it will be in about 5yrs not 18 months - 2 yrs like we really hope so I think that will be a shock to a few...We have the only Grandchildren and my parents are a huge part of their lives so I think that will be the hardest part - and my best friend, she will definitely be the hardest person to leave and they aren't interested in visiting Perth....! *sigh* I am sure it will be ok though - Thank goodness for Skype!!! x

I am pretty new to this site....I have been stalking for a while :wink: and have messaged a few people who have all been very helpful thus far, so thank you :hug: We are in our late twenties/early thirties, my Husband and I, we have two little ones under school age and we are looking to move to Perth in the beginning of 2015.....I am thinking it is never to early to start the ball rolling and I know it can take some time so I think this is a sensible plan that is not out of reach. Hubster is a Carpenter and I am a Midwife in training....We haven't told anyone our plans as we don't want the interference or certain people trying to talk us out of it. I am terrified of it all if I am honest, but I also know it is best for all of us!! I have always wanted to move to NZ since I was 18 and OH has always wanted to move abroad so we have compromised on Australia as it offers what we both are looking for. Anyway that is us and I hope to find great support from some of you and share this lovely but difficult roller coaster of a journey with some others :twitcy:

I guess some are just moving for different reasons,. they might like living the British way and lots of British people or like minded people and find that a comfort. For me though I will avoid all the areas heavily populated with Brits as I am trying to get away from Brits haha!! I want to live in Australia not live in Britain but with a bit of Sun....!

Oh really Kipper? I would be interested to know about this too as obviously that is my Husbands expertise

This thread has been very helpful - thanks Gents - we are in your position Stevie pretty much the same, 2 littlens and pretty much the same age - we are trying to move to Perth soon - perhaps we can support each other through the process. My Hubby is the Carpenter FX we all end up in Perth!!
