  1. Hi We are hoping to fly out to Victoria in October and initially we were going to try and sell our car here in the UK but now I am having second thoughts! I would like some advice on whether its worth shipping it and how much its going to cost please? Its a 2012 BMW 1 series 116i sport 5 door hatch. Manual drive. Any comments would be greatly appreciated!
  2. Hi Jonah May I ask why your medical was referred and did the MOC require any additional information? My young daughter wears a hearing aid in one ear as she has high frequency loss. Otherwise well, healthy girl and goes to mainstream school. I'm now really worried I'll be refused a visa because of this. Help and advice please from anyone would be greatly appreciated!!
  3. Hi Can I assume from this 'finalised' status on my skills select page that my daughters referred medical has been cleared? Can I also assume that my visa will be granted shortly? Obviously it's the weekend so no CO to answer my question! if anyone can advise I'd be grateful. thanks Vanessa
  4. Hi everyone My skills select page is now showing 'finalised'. Does this mean my CO has heard back from the MOC about my daughter's medical? Vanessa
  5. Hi everyone Thank you for your replies re MOC delays. I guess it's just a case of waiting but so frustrating! Am I also right in saying that you have 1 year to activate visas from date of medical? My CO has stopped replying to my e mails now as I'm on her back constantly to chase global health but she refuses saying ' it's out of my hands!' is there anyway I can contact global health myself to chase this up? Many Thanks Vanessa
  6. Hi everyone. My daughters medical was referred to the moc on the 29th april. She wears a hearing aid in one ear for high pitched hearing loss. Other than this she is a healthy, independent, normal little girl who attends main stream school. She has 6 monthly hearing tests and thats it! Does anyone have a similar story or could anyone give me any idea how long i will have to wait for moc approval? getting so frustrated now as this is all we are waiting on!
  7. Hi barnsey10 Congratulations on your visa grant!! Would you mind me asking you why your medical was referred? My youngest daughter who is 5 wears a hearing aid for high pitched hearing loss. She attends main stream school and lives a normal independent life. Even though the Dr who initially performed the medicals wrote all of this on her medical it has been referred to the MOC. I'm really worried now that they will refuse us a visa on the grounds of her wearing a hearing aid. If anyone has any similar stories, suggestions etc it would be greatly appreciated. I have 65 points and my case officer has everything she needs now apart from MOC clearance for my daughter. Its like having a carrot dangling in front of my face. Vanessa
  8. Hi everyone I applied for my 189 on the 3rd Jan (10 weeks tomorrow)!! Could someone please tell me when I'm likely to be assigned a CO and how fast things move from then on? I have done everything......medical, police check, IELTS, skills assessment, uploaded all certified documents requested. I am a Registered Nurse so keen to start looking for jobs in Oz but cant until the 189 is issued. FRUSTRATED ++++
  9. Hi everyone I lodged my 189 application on the 3/1/13 and still haven't heard from a CO yet!! We have our medicals this friday at Bridgewater medical practice. Everything else done and uploaded (skills assessment, nursing registration docs, degree, police checks, IELTS, certified copies of passports, birth certificates, marriage certificate). Have I missed anything? Its a long waiting game now!
  10. Hi I lodged my 189 application on the 3rd of January. Have medicals next week and police checks are pending. Yes you do need to attach certified certificates etc. Also passports, birth certificates etc all need to be certified. Hope this helps!
  11. Ok thanks guys. I think i'll sit it anyway for the potential 20 points you can get. Got nothing to lose!
  12. HI I HAVE LODGED MY SKILLED MIGRATION VISA BUT AM CONFUSED AS TO WHETHER I NEED TO SIT THE ENGLISH TEST!!! I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT IF YOU WERE A BRITISH CITIZEN AND HELD A BRITISH PASSPORT YOU WERE EXEMPT FROM THE TEST! CAN ANYONE ADVISE ME PLEASE?:arghh:
  13. Hi i am currently working as an enp in a very busy hospital on the south coast of england and have held this position since 2004. I am a nurse prescriber registered with the nmc and am currently studying an msc in advanced clinical practice. I am having difficulty finding similar roles in australia so any advice would be gladly welcomed. I am in the process of obtaining a permanent residency visa from the uk.
  14. Hi i am the main applicant (registered nurse) and my husband is a state registered paramedic here in the uk and has been since 2001. I am awaiting the 189 independent skilled permanent migration visa. We would like to live in geelong near family and consequently my husband would like to work for the vic ambulance service. Is there anyone out there that has been in a similar situation or is/has worked for the vic ambulance service? Any advice of any kind would be greatly appreciated. I also like the look of geelong hospital and my speciality is emergency nursing. Any advice here would too be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!!
  15. I'm a nurse so had all my skills assessed for the subclass 189 visa which is what you need for the visa. To be honest that all took a lot of time, effort and money! We have just parted with £2000 for the visa. Plus there's medicals and police checks on top. I have uploaded certified copies of our passports, birth certificates etc so just hoping this next step doesn't take too long really!! Like you once we have the visa then we can start applying for jobs. Have you been to Australia before? We are too looking at Victoria but this is all dependant on job prospects for my husband who is a paramedic. Its so exciting isn't it??
  16. Hi I've just joined today too. We are too awaiting approval of our permanent residency visa! Due to have medicals next week. Sue can I ask you how long your visa took to come through once you had completed your medicals? Also I havent been assigned a case officer yet which is worrying me!
