  1. you need to be more specific where you are going to be working as travel is a nightmare at the best of times in sydney
  2. Australia likes it qualifications, you can apply for your visa with uk qualifications ( city guilds ,I have craft ,advanced craft and HNC) and you get your visa, but if you wish to trade out here they don't recognise them to get your licence , I did a intense 29 day course through master builders and Taffe to get my licence all up cost me around 13k , lots of course work and the time off work was hard going to keep on top as well as work i sub contracted when I first came out and once they know you are switched on and capable I got promoted quickly to run jobs and then a project manager. I now run my own company Good luck
  3. Having worked around the area area a few times your mates reply was my thoughts unless you have the funds to live in the premiership footballers areas of Hales Barn , Altringham, Alderley edge . my wife treated a patient in moss side a few years back she was terrified of going there

  6. With you on all of the above , I don't miss working in winter at all in the uk , must admit it's been as tough working in the recent temps had a few half days since Christmas due to heat ,but it's a lot nicer to have a swim to cool off than sit in front of a fire to get warm
  7. You have never worked out side in constant minus temps then ,its no joy

  16. We are traveling with Emirates in March and have around 30 times , only had 1 poor flight as the staff were not interested in serving us which we found strange otherwise it's been very good. We have booked our seats at no cost for our flights in March . When paying out good money you do expect a certain level of service which was not the case here, have you contacted them to complain not sure if it would get you anywhere to be honest but maybe worth a go.
  17. Had a fabulous day , one of the high lights was complete strangers congratulating and welcoming me on becoming a citizen what Australia is all about.

  21. Sorry only just getting time to reply NS has covered most of it ,it used to take us 2.15 door to door from mona vale to pokolbin up here in the hunter. Friends went to the zoo up here recently and said it was very good for half a day. so many wine tours to do, might be worth a over night stay as it could be a long day pepper tree wines is very good for tasting ( one of my favourite ) the views from Audrey wilkinson are a must if you visit . you also have the smelly cheese shop and chocolate shop. pettersions champagne house is good as well that's on corner of broke road and wine country drive. Hope this helps anything more specific give me a pm
  22. You will be fine with them ,but they don't recognise them if you want to get your license to work for yourself , another money making exercise.
  23. When you say joinery jobs it's a bit different over here as joiners fit kitchens, built in wardrobe and detailed joinery ,where as a carpenter will do the more traditional role of roofing ,frames, skirting etc
