  1. We used the move cube, it arrived in exactly same condition as we sent, nothing broken or damaged. We used bubble wrap for delicate / glass ware items. Arrived a month before expected.
  2. Have you looked at sevenseasworldwide.com ? They do move cube in three sizes and is a very cost effective and time efficient option. A lot of people including me have used it and I have not seen a negative feedback. Good luck. PS: Your travels are impressive.
  3. Or, buy these converters for a decent price, they take a little while to arrive (4 weeks) but are good quality and pack of 5.
  4. I doubt you will find anyone willing to take your personal stuff via the Ro Ro method. Did you try the sole container?
  5. I brought my iMac with me as checked in luggage. I did bring it in its original packing though.
  6. I used Letton Percival and they were quick to quote and arrange the cover note. Can't say about claiming as my move cube arrived with everything intact.
  7. I believe the name has been chosen after the "Iron Lady"
  8. Finally, I have been able to find time to write this. I imported my car to Melbourne from Southampton and Kristian from Iron Lady Imports have been extremely helpful. Car arrived in the same condition as I left it at the Southampton port. Kristian organised everything from import license, shipping, marine insurance to receiving, customs, quarantine, collection from port to VASS engineer (Blake of Arrows Engineering), registration and finally delivery. I had been planning this since over 2 years, and throughout Kristian answered my questions patiently, via Skype, email, phone. I shipped via Ro Ro method, and the car was delivered to me in exactly 2 months (13 August - 13 October), inclusive of the 2.5 weeks it took for the customs & registration process. The actual costs were less than the original estimates. My questions were answered with consistent super fast speed irrespective of different time zones. Lastly, Was it worth the effort: Absolutely YES Overall Experience: Fantastic (with a bit of anxiety) Will I do it again: Yes Iron Lady Imports (may not have an opportunity, but never say never) Kristian's & Blake's helpfulness: Pristine
  9. Recently received my car here in Melbourne, and I must say IronLady Imports did an excellent job. Kristian (Ironlady) and Blake (Arrows Engineering) were extremely helpful, answered my endless questions (some of them stupid I know). I received the car in exactly 2 months time (including the time it took for customs, quarantine, road worthy compliance, registration. I shipped my car via RoRo and as Savitar says, they (IL) make things easier for you.
  10. Hi Jen, I think they do a door to door service within a distance range. I did not have to go anywhere, the cube was brought to my door in Melbourne and opened in front of me. Best to give them a call and find out.
  11. Our move cube took just under 75 days door to door including a week after collection in UK and 2 weeks after arrival in Melbourne. Everything arrived in exactly same condition as it was sent. Very impressed with Sevenseas.
  12. D, we have 17 days to leave here and 19 to touch down. We will be in Caroline Springs, will indeed be great to meet up. PM me your details and I will call when we arrive. We have 2 boys, 5 & 12.
  13. Anyone recommend a handy man or professional who can quote on refurbishment of a bathroom, minor electrical works across the house, and some gardening TLC. I'm in the Watergardens / Caroline Springs area so any local contacts will be helpful. Thanks in advance. BQ
  14. I did have a few new and under one year old items, worth roughly around $4000, and i declared them all they were (new or under 12 months), and didn't see any custom charges.
  15. I will be very interested in looking at what you got in furniture. Any photos you can post?
  16. Hi Claire, do you still have the items for sale ? I'm moving shortly, and would be very keen to look & buy if I like. If yes, can you share any photos ?
  17. No shipping company will be willing to take your stuff if you do not have a visa, unless someone else is receiving it on your behalf. Also, I believe you will need to have a long term visa to be able to ship.
  18. I used Letton Percival. Fairly straight forward, and good reviews on this forum. My stuff is on its way, so cannot say anything about the claims process.
  19. Depends on the size, we could fit a lot in a medium move cube. I believe a large move cube can take 2 times the stuff a medium cube can. So its worth a try. Best thing to do is, mark the dimensions in a corner and do a dry run to see what you can accommodate.
  20. I used Letton percival, and my move cube is on its way. They were very easy and straightforward to deal with so far. Keep in mind, there is a minimum £100 insurance premium, so even if you are sending items less than worth £10,000, you will pay that, but insurance is worth it. Premium is calculated at roughly 1% of declared value.

    Repeat Prescriptions

Thanks for the responses guys. Very helpful.
  22. Not sure if this has been covered here already, so apologies in advance if it has. We are due to emigrate to Melbourne later this year. My OH has to take a tablet everyday to keep the Thyroid function in check. NHS provides repeat prescriptions at no cost, plus a blood test every 6 - 9 months to assess the correct dose. Question is, when we are Melbourne, can we get on a similar programme ? Any pointers / help is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time in reading and responding.
  23. I think what they (Amex) do is create a new credit card for you based on your credit history in the country you held the card in. With Citibank, are you talking about Credit cards or bank accounts ? Bank accounts might be a completely different thing.
  24. Mikk, curious to know how you are shipping it ? Being an import may have a slight reduced value to the red book or carsales.com.au, but you can't go wrong with a $50k difference. There is another member here, who's net profit was 0, but he had the use of the car for 2 years i think.
  25. If you had American express whilst in OZ, you can go on the Amex website and use the option of migrating to another country. Amex will be happy to issue you a card in the UK. The below link has more info. https://www.americanexpress.com/global-card-transfers/?inav=au_menu_myacct_global I came to UK in 2008 and my employer opened my first account with Natwest. I contacted the account manager and they issued me with a credit card straightaway with no liability to my employer.
