If any one is interested or would like more information please PM me cheers
  2. she is not sure as yet if she will pratice in the uk or oz if she practices in the UK then she will probs lose her citisenship when its time to get this.it seems shes thinkingof the best uni to study. thanks for the replies guys we are in adelaide at the moment but won't be by the time she goes to uni its between perth and brisbane to move too so its why we need some advice on the state and uni but guess she can study in any state that suits her needs.
  3. Hi does anyone have any guidance on the best state and uni to complete a law/criminology degree or should my daughter go back to the UK to complete this advice appreciated
  4. we are going through this also we were looking yesterday about uni courses she is going into Law and we were looking which state has the best uni for that or does she go back to the UK, we researched that each uni will assess the year 12 ATAR points all were different and they can get the uni loan but as usual depending on the parents income.
  5. yep i agree try another state and each state seems to be different will be leaving Adelaide in 2013 of to Perth all the family happy to leave, I'm just fortunate my husband was born in Perth and spent 10 years there and i agree with the comments that some things are not different to the UK,
  6. Hi yeah a good idea to keep your options open we came to SA not been good for us, we knew people but it doesn't make a difference for employment depending what they do though, we are not nurses but there are alot of nurses that come to SA, teachers too. so make sure you really do alot of research on states before you come out. Most people 'than not' including people who emigrated years ago have questioned us why we chose SA (Adelaide) Mmm
  7. Hi hopefully moving to WA from SA next year not sure who to use for transporting her, price etc and what flight will she go on, from the UK only quanta's fly animals any thoughts or has anyone experienced moving their beloved pets from one state to to another
  8. you can't bring your misery into other peoples situation you don't even know them or how they communicate or how they are sorting things out, people handle things differently his kids are not you this guy needs to sort things out for himself and his kids not for everyone on this forum who seems to be knocking him and his situation, everybody is selfish in some way including you that's reality of life, people keep saying he needs to sort it out then let him and stop knocking him its his business and his mess. i think the actual parents know whats best not people who don't even know the family. His wife might not want to be with him for all we know 'so what' its their business and their marriage I thought a migration forum is about migrating not knocking people or being nosy in other peoples life
  9. Mmm think you might be wrong by the sound of things,
  10. I don't agree that a couple should stay together for the kids sake, kids are happy kids with happy parents, parents can make a child's life miserable for staying together for the sake of kids (this is very wrong) what is wrong with him being in OZ and the mother being in the UK, i don't know how old the child is but he/she can visit their father and have long holidays rather than every other weekend as most fathers get in the uk, longer holiday times with the father may benefit them both and the child has something good to look forward too. this does work for alot of people, he just needs to sort his situation out quickly for himself and for his kids so they all know where they stand and get on with their life's. its his call know-one else s.

    TAFE V High school

I think as a parent the kids best interest needs to be taken into consideration, the nerves of moving to the other side of the world and then at 16-17 yrs old going back to school when they would of gone to college in the UK, i kept saying to her you need to do the year 11-12 to progress she also gained her GCSE's A's, B's and C's, she was put in yr 11 we came in July so not long left for yr 11. However we kept getting told different things she needed to do a full year in English and maths to get yr 11 so what was the point in that, one person was saying her GCSE's will contribute another person saying their equivalent to yr 10, three different people involved saying different things. she was getting very frustrated and upset so we came out the school i drove straight to TAFE asked to speak to someone, i explained the situation, her grades she already had etc, what her career options are and the next thing she's starting a course in January in police studies cert 3, there are many ways to uni, a good tutor will see the maturity and knowledge of a person not just the grade, some kids have good grades but not the determination to do well they are the tutors nightmare, I was informed at the school my daughter may be looked as an international student and will also have priority from that. However welcome to the world of education you will find you will be told different things, you need to use your judgment as a parent of how you kids are and what you think is best for them. my daughter is 16 with good aspirations and determined to do well so i went with her and helped her rather than telling her whats best for her, they all have to make decisions in life so let them start making their own decisions if they are capable too.
  12. Hi I chose to use a migration agent to do mine however i had to contact him to see if we had heard anything he told me he had received an acknowledgment letter and a receipt but not when, i need to work and i got no reply from the agent when i asked about working and how desperate i am to work, so i contacted the immigration office to find that the application had been in for 6 weeks and to use a form 1005 to change the application conditions to be able to work but at a cost. they are saying its taking approx 8 months, i don't know if the onshore is quicker than the offshore

    TAFE V High school

forgot to mention her focus is then to do cert 4 in legal and justice studies, i would then prefer her to do a diploma in legal studies then go to uni to a degree she will be older, maturer and hopefully wiser and totally ready to take on a degree, too many 18 year olds drop out of a degree from a year 12 cert or in the UK A levels not realizing what a degree entails i do believe the maturity of a person has a lot to do with completing a degree that's why adult learners are far more successful I have told my daughter i would prefer her to be at least 21 to do a degree, she is a very bright academic person but that is not the whole thing maturity is and life skills. TAFE will be far more relaxed and the tutors will be specialized in the subject being taught so they will know what they are talking about

    TAFE V High school

Hi this is an interesting point you will find may people saying kids will never get into uni without the year 12 certificate well what a load of cock n bulls***, i worked in FE in England also sorting out students future prospects, people in OZ ( well SA anyway) seem to not have a clear understanding that yes you can progress to uni without the year 12 cert you can also progress with cert 3 or 4 studying subjects that is relevant to the uni course I am taking my 16 year old daughter out of year 11 waste of time for her and going to TAFE to do police studies cert 3, TAFE is far better in getting young adults on there right career path and choices, i am a big believer in studying at the right level to progress further to the chosen career, why do subjects that are not relevant to a career choice and if they don't do well on the year 12 cert they are informed to start at a certificate level anyway.
  15. hi I was just wondering if anyone moved from one state to another to give it a go knowing that the original state was not for them or you were not happy with your original plans once in OZ was it work issues, family issues, was the state not what you thought it to be?? what was the outcome, was it a wise move or not????
  16. Hi I have applied for an onshore 820 also i came to SA on a tourist visa (12weeks) and the application went in on the 21st September the 12 week visa ran out on the 5th October, i was informed and i have also been told by the immigration department that i am now on a type A bridging visa until the 820 is finalized, my application was sent to Perth as this is the office for spouse visa. I also have to apply for the bridging visa conditions to be changed as i cannot work and i need to work now the money is tight, this is also another cost. the spouse/partner visa is taking approx 8 months they are behind.
  17. Hi you will find you will need to do a course for everything you do if you have no papers to back it up, any qualifications need to be assessed by TAFE and may not be recognized, my husband is a bricklayer by trade he can also plaster, tile, worked on tarmac for notts council for 8 years we've been here 4 months and he has not found any work at all, work for tradies is very poor in Adelaide or you have to do courses taking your money when your probably more qualified than those teaching the course. you will need a white card to get a job anyway you will not be employable without that its only $100 do not do it online though. Why are you coming to Adelaide can you not take your trade to another state in OZ??? there are so many tradies out of work and have families its a case of who you know not what you know here and everyone will tell you that, they also make tradies redundant after 3 months too it seems to be a thing they do in companies here. so i would say from first hand experience and from many others do not come to SA
  18. it is down to time and good research if you have the time, but for most of us we work full time and have all the daily family tasks, but if you want to get the migration process right the first time then 2 grand is nothing to pay for ones future and their families. i have read many posts over the past few days and realized many people have put application forms in and being asked later down the line from the CO for further forms and information. i have used an agent and all those forms being asked for including police checks have all gone in one go. their are many skills that people can go under that they do not realize they can use from their skills. this is usually learnt from an agent who has the skills and knowledge. yes some are far better than others and again that is down to good research of finding the right one.
  19. is Perth that boring where were you then, all the best to you any way
  20. oh right i would let the CO know your situation and see if your inlaws can provide a written statement that you live with them etc photos are proof, i had 3 written forms from 3 different witnesses that my relationship and marriage is true and how they have seen the relationship develop etc
  21. don't you fancy moving to a different state if you feel Perth is boring rather going back to the UK
  22. i don't quite understand you mentioning you don't have any cohabitation evidence are you in England together or at the other end of the world from each other, have you visited one another if so you could show evidence of your flight etc, phone calls and photographs are very good have you completed a written statement of your future together and what you both want from the relationship, how you support one another etc also saying why you want a future in OZ is good to write on the statement if you haven't already.
