  1. Hi all My oh has just had a message saying that 'Health Requirements have been finalised - application being processed further'. It was the last bit the case officer was waiting for for the visa to be completed - does this mean the visa is imminent? Hearts are in mouths over here. Keep on thinking there will be some spanner in the works to come... Of course we will ask our CO but now he's in bed and is not the best for responding to emails! Thanks everyone x
  2. How do you know if your medical results have been referred to moc? My OHs medical results were sent electronically to DIAC on 13 May but our online application says they are still being processed? Thanks
  3. Congrats! Where are you heading too?
  4. Fab photo's! So lovely to look at them and day dream of actually being there too - thank you!
  5. Hi Murta love your update! Would very much appreciate a breakdown of costs if you are happy to provide. We are a family of 4 moving over to sydney later this year. Thanks!
  6. I wonder if the type of employment you're being sponsored for has relevance here? As with Emma, my husband is being sponsored by a hosp for a nursing post in mental health and this was on the back of a recruitment campaign where the NSWs health reps came over to the UK to interview and had heavily advertised in the nursing journals etc. Surely they genuinely need this skill set from the UK (and elsewhere) if they were pushing such an expensive recruitment campaign - or am I/we being naive? We are very realistic re the implications of the 457 visa although... I have to admit the recruiters were keen to say the hosp would be happy to sponsor a PR in the future so this was an attraction for us.
  7. Hi folks OH has been offered a post based St Leonard's and would love to commute by bike. Did this in London for years so used to city cycling. 40mins is the max he would like. So far I have been looking around Lane cove which would be very close but we have family there and in Artamon and also all along the north shore line up to Hornsby - are there any other areas we should consider? Inner West? Northern beaches? Are they easily accessible to St Leonard's by bike? Also Mosman looks great - would that be an option transport/bike wise to St Leonards? As ever many thanks to all/any responses.
  8. Good luck and enjoy! Will be reading your posts with interest as we are coming out later this year and are looking at suburbs schools in the northern suburbs.
  9. Hi Sydney Anne - thanks so much for your feedback. My OH will be working at the Royal North Shore Hospital at St Leonard's and he hopes to be able to cycle to work (is a keen cyclist so doesnt mind a bit of distance). So I am researching places that are a good commute to there. The northern beaches appeal but I think it would be tricky to get to work for OH and they are pricey. I've also looked at Lane Cove (he has an aunty there and cousins in Artaman) and at burbs on the north shore line up to Hornsby. Any offers of advice would be great and much appreciated.
  10. thanks purpleal we will be on a 457 visa so it's good to be aware that this could impact on choices - I thought the fees where the biggest issue!
  11. thanks LKC - yes that does seem confusing. the schools I''ve looked at online have provided pdf maps showing the boundary of their catchment area. if the school has a good ranking will the house prices/rents within the catchment as area be much higher? thanks
  12. Hi folks I have been researching Sydney schools and their catchment areas. It would appear to be fairly straight forward that if you live in the catchment of that school you should get a place. My query is... are house prices and rents in these catchments really high (as my experience of London school catchments)? thanks for any advice
  13. Hi Talieandtribe We are also considering Lane Cove. OH has a job lined up at the Royal North Shore hosp so this would be a great location for us. He also has an aunty there and cousins in Artaman. we are also looking at places along the north shore line up to Hornsby to keep good access to the hospital. Obviously the further out we go the more space but could be isolating. We plan to recce when we get there and decide. Would have loved the northern beaches but think would be tricky for getting to hosp and also quite a bit more expensive. We moved two years ago from urban London to rural Scotland and have learned A LOT about what we need do and don't need. Maya12 I've heard great things about 'The Shire' and did research on the area but now OH's post is north so we are focusing on northern areas. We are a family of 4 (kiddles 8 and 5). We are hoping to get there by March/April but more realistically later on in the summer (a house to sell....). We're excited but also somewhat panicked at times by the scary cost of living threads - eek! Good luck all you folks out there and Emma look forward to hearing how you are doing soon. x
