  1. Hi.. I have personally used the support and advice from our migration agents due to potential difficult circumstances i.e. daughter who is over the age of 18 and we want her on our visa, for this they have provided excellent advice and have advised with other delicate matters which I could have potentially missed if I had tried to do this alone. If you believe you have straught fwd circumstances then you should be ok. Are you aware of the problems that many 'diploma' nurses are now facing? AHPRA are accepting 'Degree only' nurses and if you do have a diploma then you will need to look at topping up to a degree before you can be registered over there. With regards to medicals I cannot comment on this as ours was straight fwd but Im sure someone has been in similar circumstances and can help you out. I have used 'GO MATILDA' and cant thank them enough for their professionalism and advice, and they are not charging the silly money that you have been quoted. Good luck, Debbie
  2. Please excuse me if this is a really STUPID question. If I had earned £16,000 and had already paid £1991 in tax (Im looking at Sept 2014 figures) then thats over the £10,600 allowance so do you know how much roughly we may expect back ?? Im curious, not relying on it but it would be nice to have a rough idea
  3. Im not fantastically keyed up with tax rebates but if we plan on leaving the UK approx Sept time and I pay tax until that time would I be eligible to claim part of it back ?? When would we normally look at filing for a rebate? Thanks, hope someone can clear this one up for me
  4. Congratulations, good luck with the move xx
  5. Im not quite in the booking stage yet but I have been looking at potential short term accommodation options for approx Sept 2015 onwards. Ive looked at airbnb, stayz, park beach holiday park etc. We were thinking for the very short term say approx a month we would stay fairly central in a cabin park, Im no snob but Ive looked at what they class the 'deluxe' range and I wouldnt feel comfortable in any of them. Ive read that trying to secure a long rental before coming over can be a nightmare too, I feel a little lost and deflated with it all. Does anyone have any tips or can share their experiences of when they set foot on Ozzy soil for the first time. Many thanks
  6. I posted mine mid Feb. Received an email from the on the 15th March to say they had only just received them (despite my postal receipt saying otherwise). Now just a waiting game
  7. We hope to get there soon enough on a 489 visa. Im a nurse and OH currently works for the local council as a highways operative (Mason). He has his HGV1 and so once we get there he will be getting the equivalent licence and hoping to pick something up quickly. As soon as I have the visa in my hand and the house is sod I shall start applying for jobs in the hope of getting something secured before we arrive. If we can find rentals approx $1500 a month for the 4 of us I will be very happy. Good luck Charlie M.. im sure something will come along, is your son enjoying Coffs !!
  8. Alan, I did not mention your company on the original or later postings but I am actually assigned to your company to assist with my visa and it was one of your employees who gave me this advice. I am rather perturbed by the reply I got as I have spent a lot of money to date for your professional services. I welcome your reply, I shall forward a copy of the email by PM to you for your reference. K.Regards
  9. Thanks, I think we will allow her to have a couple of months ONLY!! Off and get her back into education once she arrives. As soon was we hit the 2 year mark we shall apply for the permanent visa. She could stay in the UK and complete her studies but to be honest she's quite a young 18 and would not be feasible for her to remAin in the UK. I think it would be good to get into the social aspect of study in OZ allowing her to build up her own social network. Thanks for the replies, any further advice is always greatly appreciated. I asked my migration agent but she's advised to contact the DIBP over there after we arrive for more current up to date criteria as she said there is no clear guideline that she can locate.
  10. We are waiting for our regional sponsorship (489). My eldest daughter is included as a dependent as she is still in education. We are aiming to apply for permanent residency once we are eligible. She plans to get back into education after taking 6 months off to do some voluntary work. My question is, has anyone applied for permanent residency for their older children and what obstacles may we be faced with ?? We don't have the option of applying for a permanent visa prior to leaving as I fall short of the points, hope someone can help :mask:
  11. Hi rich. not sure on what the likely outcome would be. My OH was banned for 12 months when he was approx 18, we have submitted the subject access form and we are waiting from the PCC for an overview etc. we submitted a letter which I wrote to support the conviction stating my OH was of good character and as the conviction was 30 years ago had never done so again. I also submitted a character reference from his employee to again support his good character so I'm hoping that this will help. Waiting game now for us, I sure hope we have no problems as I've spent a huge amount of money so far good luck
  12. Hi, DIBP requested the information and then gave us a months window to get these sorted and the results uploaded to them, should you have any problems or delays for whatever reason you can request an extension. We have just had to do this as my OH had a driving offence from 30 years ago and we have had to request a detailed summary of the offence from the police which can take 40 days for PCC to reply to. Tense moment as we have not had a reply for this extn and would be nice to know if others have experienced the same and how long it did did take to the subject access results back. The police check states it takes 10 days from the request date (date they received it). Ours took 12 working days max. Should you then require a subject access form that is when it can take an additional 40 days.
  13. We are hoping to head to NSW in September time. My dilemma is: daughter 1. She is 18 and as she had to be a dependant to be included on the visa she had to remain in education and therefore is on Year 1 of 2 of an animal management etc course. I told her clearly from day 1 that she would only be able to compete the first year as we would have to go to Oz. She's a young 18 and she wouldn't want to stay here on her own. We have looked at her options when we get there and she's so unhappy at the moment doing nothing uni work that she said she can't wait to get out there and spend some time doing some voluntary support in the ecological systems of the rain forests etc. I will support her 100% in whatever she wants to do, she's looking forward to it and I think this will be a turning point for her (fingers crossed). She can then decide if she wants to pursue further education when she's there. daughter 2.. She is 17 and almost completing her 1sy year of a levels. I feel dreadful again that she won't be completing but she wants to go back into the education system when we arrive. we are extremely lucky that this has been ALL our dreams (obviously forced slightly by me when they were younger) but hAve grown to understand that the lifestyle would be of huge benefit to us all. They both have all their GCSEs so that's one benefit. This day in age we all have aspirations for our children, we try to guide them as best we can but ultimately they will make their own decisions once they become young adults. As long as we can support them then that's as valuable as anything.
  14. We are also using GM. I have dealt with Maria, Wendy and Alex. They are on the ball and emails send are replied to the same day during business hours. When I have phoned the office they have remained very professional at all times. I am so glad that I made the decision to use them, the decision was made following reviews here on POI. Good luck with your visa
  15. Well I kind of figured that but the applications are generally turned round within 10 days so I was hoping it would have meant it had been finalised. I'm just farrrrr toooooo keen to get this visa after years of retraining, too many IELTS tests etc etc, in the grand scale of things what's another couple of days
  16. Hi all, I have received this emIl from the Police website after they received my application form on the 18/2: Thank you for your recent application for a Police Certificate which was received in this office on 18/02/2015. It will now be dealt with in accordance with the published guidelines. Question is from those who have had theirs confirmed, does this mean it has all been approved and signed off etc?? This is the last thing we have been waiting for after lodging. The visa on the 30/12 and are hoping to hear soon on getting our visa :cute:
  17. Hi.. We shall be moving (me, OH and 2 kids, Emma 19 and Lisa 17). We completed our medicals 2 weeks ago and just awaiting the police checks to come though. As soon as they are done we hope we may hear something within the month. Im an adult nurse and Martin currently works on the highways/mason (kerbing/HGV1/stonewalling etc) so will be looking for similar once there. I have had to apply for a regional 489 visa in NSW and are looking at relocating to COFFS HARBOUR. We have had the house on the market for approx 18months but is still up for sale which could be the only thing holding us back right now. As well as waiting to het my AHPRA papers through (thankfully I passed with a degree)!!! I go cold thinking of all the things we have to consider when moving on, very scary/exciting etc.. but we are all really keen to make a fresh new life and cant wait for the challenges ahead of us. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE xx
  18. Hi, would you be able to send me the list you have compiled, would be really grateful. many thanks
  19. My state sponsorship took approx 3 weeks, we are heading to NSW (Coffs Harbour), on the final leg now, our visa was finally lodged on the 30 December, we've been told we could hear something in approx 12 weeks.
  20. Hi Nyssa, Glad the move went ok and your beginning to settle in. We are hoping to lodge the visa any day now, just waiting on State Sponsorship to confirm their part. We are hoping it could be Aug/Sep next year but depends on when we get to sell the house really. Where have you seen the jobs advertised for the nurses, would be good if you could pass on some info, are you on facebook? youll have to add me so i can see any piccies etc your putting on (im under debbie cherry (debbie binns). Are you renting then ? whereabouts? do you like the area? what made you choose Coffs? I am so excited about getting over there but in the same token Im terrified, worried about jobs, will my kids like it, will I like it, etc etc. Lovely to hear more from you Debbie xx
  21. I qualified in sept 2013, once I started my job that month I soon realised how beneficial getting some experience would be before starting the process etc, at the beginning of 2014 I started gathering all the things I needed, sat my first IELTS in April and after 4 attempts finally passed in sept. By the time I get to go I will be 2 years post qualified and then be ready for the challenges of a different trust and medications etc etc
  22. How has the move gone? We are looking to join you next year, just waiting on visas etc, Im a nurse and OH a stonemason/HGV1+++ Id love to hear from you on what the area is like and where you are planning on settling etc etc, Debbie
  23. Hi Lisa, have you started the ball rolling yet for your visa etc etc?? I have to say that it is all very straight forward and as long as you have everything to hand then you shouldnt really have any problems with it all. Im just at the stage of gaining my regional sponsorship, it was sent on Thursday so hopefully it wont be long now before I am able to lodge my final visa application
  24. My EOI was submitted 22 October too for 'Coffs Harbour' NSW. Im using Go Matilda, so Ive now missed 2 selections. I had 60 points, Im a registered nurse and looking at a 489 Regional sponsorships, at this stage should I ask them to chase it up as its over a month now and they say we can chase after 4 weeks which is the current lead time??
