  1. Hey guys, it's been 10 days since my fiance's medical - they said results in 7-10 days. That should be all LG needs for our application, so we were kind of hoping for an email to say she has everything she needs now. I think this is the beginning of the wait where we wont hear anything until the grant! .... It's hell for me as I am a bit of a control freak and I keep saying to my fiance "have you heard from LG yet!?!?!" he's like "NO!" but hopefully no news is good news and now we're just another one in the pile waiting for the grant. April/May could not come quick enough! Hate being an 8-9 monther.
  2. Yep exactly right Steve2012, he had applied for his police checks before submission, but we were just waiting for them to be sent via post (Australian Police Checks are taking a bit longer) we wanted to submit everything at once. We were advised not to go ahead with the medical straight away as the processing time may render them expired (if you do not travel to Aus straight after the grant) as they expire after 12 months. We told our CO that if we got the grant he would be travelling to Aus within 2 weeks so therefore there was no risk in the medicals expiring before entry to Aus. I dont think it will speed it up, I think they grant on the basis of submission date - so not sure the medicals and police checks change the time. Also, they only grant a certain amount a day so that's why processing time was extended to 8-9 months. Long distance relationship is driving me a little mad, but we are trying to break our wait time into sort of 3 month lots - 3 months not seeing each other then travel to visit. Hopefully sometime after my second visit it will be grant time! Breaking it into shorter waiting periods makes it feel not so long!
  3. When did people start being told 8-9 months wait time? I am part of the "8-9ers" group and would love to know who else is in this club but who applied before me (before Sept) so I can stalk their progress! haha! Also, when people say their 'estimated grant date' is say, "end of October" are you guys predicting that date because its between the 5-6 month mark? Or are you basing it on the latter date of 6 months? PS - Waiting for the 'no further info required' letter as fiance has done medicals, police checks etc. so glad thats out of the way!!! ....Plus I'm England-bound for a romantic Yorkshire getaway in Nov and am glad we wont be discussing visa details on the trip!
  4. Just wish they were granting like 5 more a day... if they did just a small number extra (I know it's up to the Government how many they grant) it would be a bit more efficient and would get through a lot more people at a time... I also find their job so interesting... Every day would be different in that job..
  5. Another LG applicant here. She is very helpful - when I paid for our visa in Perth I was treated like a piece of dirt by the woman beind the counter...all I could think was "imagine if my case officer is like this!!!' haha I was giving the woman two grand for god's sake she could have been a bit more pleasant! Good to know you guys are getting some good responses with her regarding your flights.
  6. Oh GeorgeD the crazy scenarios I have come up with! I've even looked into moving to England and our application only went in in September. I queried my fears with an Agent who works with my friend and they seem to think all will be fine. I know I'm just imagining the worst, but in the back of my mind I know things will work out. I think partially these issues bug me because I dont have my other half living with me to voice my concerns.... Good luck with everything, I'm sure your application is running along fine!!
  7. Hi GeorgeD, thanks for clearing this up. I should have been a little more specific cos I meant to ask this regarding a possibly refusal. I have this crazy idea in my head that there may be some issues with our application (conviction from ten years ago that needed to be explained and previous overstaying on a visa - from a sponsor giving my fiance the run around and eventually he cancelled his sponsorship application because the company was dodgy) and am really worried he will get refused, even though I'm sure these are minor problems. I was just wondering if this "no further information required" means yes, he has been approved (pending grant). Obviously left alone in Australia I am stressing over these things!!!!
  8. Is that correct that when they say "no further information required" they have accepted and 'granted' (for want of a better word) your visa but are just waiting for it to go through the obligatory processing period before the 'official' grant? Would be good to know that so that we can start making travel plans for the later part of our processing time (9 mths)...
  9. Hey GreatDane, looks like we will be together in that wait, we submitted on the 4th Sept just wish they overestimated that wait and it turns out to be a bit shorter!! I wish!
  10. How exciting for everyone who has had their granted!! Gives me butterflies! I love seeing the planning/organising from the people who are in the UK, as I am the fiance in Aus waiting for my man to come back! I'm lucky enough to already live in this beautiful country, but now I can picture how excited my fiance will be when he gets his grant. I hope you all enjoy your new lives in Oz!
  11. Hi guys, I know my post isnt grant-related, but my fiancee has been told to go have his medical, feel good to have contact with the CO and have her reply so quickly saying it was OK to get the medical. I feel like once that's out of the way we can relax and just sit back and wait! Congrats to the people who have had recent grants
  12. So just got the dreaded email. PMV lodgement date 4 Sept, indeed we have been told 8-9 months. Just a query... The letter says provide medical and character checks by 49 days. However, they have also advised we hold off on medical checks as they link in with your initial entry date. As my fiancé has no solid ties in England, and can give a few days notice at his job and would immediately come to Aus. They said only don't do it soon as after the 8-9 months you may need to sell your house etc. before your entry date and to factor in that time. My fiancé plans to enter about a week after we receive the visa.... What do u guys think? I feel no need to wait as why not get the medical done ASAP, if at the most his medical will be 9 months old on his initial entry date..... thoughts???
  13. Right guys, I'm pretty sure today is the day that my fiance is sending our PMV application in England. I can almost officially say I am in the waiting/processing period with all the other forum peeps!... ball should be rolling next week hopefully! So glad to be getting rid of that damn application and it actually feels good to be 'waiting'. I know I wont say that down the track but I am heading over to visit the fiance in November to break up the waiting period, so I have that to look forward to and all my girlfriends are helping me with wedding stuff to keep my mind off things! I'll be sure to let you know when I get the first correspondence from the old Aus House Now I shall go call the fiance and wake him up and tell him to get that thing in the post!!!!!!!!
  14. Regarding return tickets - I dont see the problem coming in on a one way ticket.. except I would have a ticket ONWARDS to somewhere like Bali/NZ. Usually when you go through immigration at airports (for non-visa related travel) their main concern is an onward ticket, not a return ticket. They want you out of the country when your tourist visa is up...I'm pretty sure they dont care what country you leave to, as long as you leave. Not sure if that would be the cheaper option, but it saves worrying about being rejected if you only have your ticket into australia...
  15. Hey guys, I've been monitoring this forum for a few weeks as I gather all the information for my PMV 300 visa that will be lodged in London next week. My fiance left this morning for England I am SO GLAD that application is out of my hands and now in his - I am sick of it being my part-time job!!! I know it's going to be terrible being apart.. we have only been together a short time (just over 3 months) and it will be our first night tonight not sleeping next to each other. I am going to the UK in December to visit him and his family (he has already met my family who visited us from interstate). Anyway, anyone think that our short time toegther may go against us? As far as I know, that is the only thing that may be our downfall - as our application is very good (a good 1 and a half inch thick) - and quite thorough even though I was supporting him and it was hard to get joint bills etc. We do have a lot of evidence though. So as of next week, the waiting will begin!!!Plenty of wedding preparations to organise to keep me busy!
