Hi, I thought this visa was if you came from a country which isn't eligible for an ETA?  Maybe I'm wrong. I think it costs money whereas an ETA is free.

We are from South Africa, so not eligible for an ETA. But I sat next to a lady from South Africa in June and she told me that she had to return to  South Africa because her 12 months were over. I should have asked her, but because we are waiting on our 143 visa I did not think of asking her. It is not the first time that I have heard about a 12 month visitor visa.

    Thanks @Rosiejaq

  2. Hi Guys and Gals

Thought I would post my time line dates for future and present room mates interested. Also, just a reminder to check up on things as you go along. Never "assume"  anything. Always check.

This is my process so far :

    Elna57 Lodged:                                                                                                                                                                                        25 Feb 2015

Medicals etc request received :                                                                                                                                              22 Nov 2017

All documents submitted including application for AOS:                                                                                                  24 Nov 2017

NB!! Noticed that nothing showed up on Emedical on DIBP site, did enquiries and discovered that Medicals were never uploaded a week later. :nah:

                 Medicals uploaded on :                                                                                                                                                          30 Nov 2017

    That is a great question.

We recently did ours... filled in on the pc... printed all out, scanned back in after signing and then emailed the scanned file.

I never even thought of it to be honest. Just wanted the forms sent ASAP.

We shall watch this space. Anyhow, it is way better than to have to courier papers to Aus.

I am so excited and can not wait to see how soon in the new year we will get contacted. In the meantime we are getting everything ready and sorting our Kitty cat's papers out as well.

Who else is waiting for the AOS call? Our son applied on 23 Nov 2017 and hasn't had the call from Centrelink yet. Any other dates?

No worries and yes, I agree that it is good news. Although the visa still isn't guaranteed. But, hopefully things will move swiftly after the xmas break especially for those still waiting to hear.  It really is the most frustrating part of it. ?

    Hi All

I agree with the PVC having different teams. When we received our request for medicals etc. at the bottom of the e-mail it did state that the e-mail came from PVC Team1.

Anyone else with perhaps any other team number?

Our lodgement date was 25 Feb 2015 and received our request for medicals on 22 November 2017.

I have to mention that a whole lot of people who applied a couple of months after us, received their requests long before we did. There was a big difference though. They were 'invited to start preparing' whilst our letter clearly stated "Request for documents" and gave us 28 days within which to submit.

Perhaps there is a new process allowing folks more time to get all their documents ready and a few of us perhaps are too close to being processed to be afforded that luxury and have to run off to the panel clinics etc.

I hope that we could get clarity about this theory somehow because I have to admit, I honestly thought they must have forgotten about us or we did something wrong when so many people with application dates later than us got their requests and I did feel very jealous and neglected.

Hope this somehow helps a bit.

    @elnak

I think you are probably right and I keep trying to stay calm and tell myself that it will happen soon for us.   But is it so frustrating when ages ago they contacted people who lodged 3 days after us, and are now contacting those who lodged 6 weeks after us for paperwork.   I see that things have moved on to processing 5th March now, so we are on the move again - just a week ahead of us now.  We are heading out to Australia on Monday for 4 weeks, so in a way we won't mind if takes another couple of weeks for us to be contacted so that we are not panicking out there when we should be having a relaxing holiday!  If we are contacted in a couple of weeks we will book our medicals in UK for as soon as we get home and arrange the police checks on-line while we are out there.  Form 80 ready to go, although I must check if the format I used is still current!

Hope your application is moving smoothly.  I see you had a good looking doctor for your medical!!

Re the handsome doctor:  Oh man!!! That was always my dream when I was young and curvy but it turned into a nightmare just then when I am old, wrinkly and bulgy. But he was still soothing on the old eyes.?

I don't know whether or when one should expect any news back re medicals ,AOS or anything really. I just feel so lost and.confused. We also need to.plan around little Kitty Cat. So lots of things to organise and moving from one rental to housesitting to who kn0ows where makes it so much harder.

Just so grateful that we sold our house to a lovely couple

Hope all of us who got contacted after all those after us who were contacted before us will eventually make some sense of it.

Any day now mates, any day now.

    @elnak Thanks!

    CPV lodgement date - 4th may 2015

My father is main applicant and I am dependent child. My elder sister is sponsorer she lives in Sydney.

I am full time student and never employed.

I have seen ppl who shows their "Transfer of Funds" from their parents account on monthly basis to prove their dependency on them. I haven't transferred any fund as I live with them so I directly get "Cash" to end my meets

Now My Question is If the case officer would ask me to show my bank statement and later on come to know that there is no "Transfer of Funds" from my parents account

    would it make any barrier?

I really think that this is a question for the professionals. Wishing you all the best mate.

Hi Trish, quick question. How have you calculated you've got three months? My in-laws applied Apr 15 and all we've seen for a few months is that there are too few applications to give a processing time. They were told 2 years when they applied, it went up to 33 months, then 45, then back to 33, then there weren't enough applications. My sister in law in Adelaide has their accommodation sorted, their kit from their house has got to Adelaide, it was shipped when they came back from Cyprus. We're just getting concerned that they are still here with no sign of any activity on their visa. Thanks

@Stubee Some April 20015 applicants have been contacted already. Any day now.

  8. @Kathss56

I have just had a look at my own private list of parents in the queue which I painstakingly compiled from various sources and have come to the conclusion that all people who applied after 15 March 2015 will probably be "invited to prepare documents etc" while you and all of us in the queue before you will get the email requesting that we submit docs , medicals etc. within 28 days.

That is just some vague suspicion that I have, nothing is from looking in my crystal ball or anything like that. Although, right now I so wish that I did have that ability.

I am very grateful for this forum for all the support and advice and wish to thank each and everyone of you for all your help. Anyone on here heading for Brisbane / Queensland area?

We are discussing this whole issue on a South African forum as well.

We are of the opinion that DIBP has introduced a new system where parents  still in the queue are being requested to PREPARE documents etc. well in advance. Perhaps a few of us are too close to the date when DIBP decided to change the procedure and we are still on the old system and get informed of having to submit docs , do medicals etc within 28 days?

What are your views on that discussion? Any possibility that we could be right? People who are behind us in the queue have been "invited" to "prepare" documents, but we have been informed that we need to submit within 28 days. Huge difference in semantics there, right?

Thanks for that, thought we would get ahead of the game and at least fill the form out ready.

Our lodgement date is 23/4/15 Acknowledgement 1/5/15.

Headed for Geelong area, hopefully later this year.

Tell you what.... no matter how well one prepares, something always changes. We completed form 80 almost 3 years ago with our application and low and behold, the whole format changed.!  xD Keeps us mentally fit all these forms.
