  1. Can anyone recommend any good migration agents? I am unsure weather to go to a company or go direct :-/ Help..
  2. No he has never done it before, has only had Australian residents work for him in the past. Yeas sure thank you, we are hoping to speak to a migration company tomorrow as all shut today but was hoping someone could suggest an alternate visa that might give us a chance. Thank you
  3. We have a slight dilema. (I am also writing on the iPad so apologise for any sp#) We are a young couple who have recently come on WHV to Australia, we will have finished our 3 months agricultural work at Christmas to entitle us to our second year (yay). luckily for us we have also found a guy who really wants to sponsor Scott (the boyfriend) He is a contractor for Origin Energy who has owned his business for years and he has said if we can get ABN and we are willing to commit to him then he will take us on! He is going to put Scott through his training which is costing him thousands and we are very keen to take this offer. my problem is, the guy doesn't necessarily employ anyone, he has contractors working for him, 3 I think at the moment which are Australian residents and he has put them through their training too. I have been told that he needs to have at least 9 employee's to be eligible to sponsor us?? And also because we will be working with ABN we can't be sponsored?? Can someone confirm this? Also if the above is true and he isn't eligible, what do you suggest we do? Any other visa options we can go for? I.e state sponsorship, possibly another employer sponsoring us and still working for him? etc. More info: As of Xmas we will have 20months on our visa. the main goal is to gain pr. Scott is a fully qualified joiner in uk, and with these qualifications he will gain on course he will be able to weld, drive trucks, and have access to mining grounds. Please please help!!!!!! Thank you
  4. Best of luck with your move! We have been planning our from last November and we go in 17 days!! We were quite similar in that the worries faded, roughly 2 months before our flight date but now that we are on less than twenty days it has suddenly hit home again! Still amazingly excited but the good-bye worries are creeping up on me! S x
  5. We are in a slightly similar position. Unfortunately we took some bad advice but managed to rectify. When we applied for WHV we took that advice that if it was over 5 years ago you don't have to declare! WRONG you do have to declare. We then had to write an email to the immigration department saying we where given some wrong advice, we wrote the following email: "I completed a working holiday visa application online last night with my partner. On the application it asks to state any convictions, I stated my driving offence which was in 2008 for driving with no insurance. I was misinformed that if the offences where over 5 years ago I didn't need to enclose them, but I have since contacted a visa agent and have been told to contact you regarding the previous driving offences just in case. Can you let me know how I update my application to include the driving offences in 2005, if needed" Our reply was sent a few days later saying this: "This email is in relation to your electronic Working Holiday (subclass 417) visa application lodged via the Department of Immigration and Citizenship website. Thank you for the information you have provided. This information has now been updated in the department's systems. Your Working Holiday visa was granted on 05 March 2012 and a Visa Grant Notification (VGN) was sent to the address which you authorised the department to use for communication. You should be aware that failure to disclose information or providing misleading information to the department may lead to a visa application being refused or visa being cancelled. No action will be taken in relation to your current Working Holiday visa, however you should ensure that you provide correct information at the time of making any future visa applications." Fingers crossed when we arrive at the border, having ticked YES on the travel cards given, all will be ok!

    Home Sickness

Hello all, I'm moving to Brisbane in 3 weeks on a WHV, i'll be doing my agricultural work to gain my second year and fingers crossed finding sponsorship to stay for good! The only thing standing in my way is missing my parents, I was wondering if anyone had some good tips? I know this seems to be the main reason for Poms returning to the UK, and believe me i'll try anything to make sure i don't need to come back here! Things friends have been saying have hit home about having children away from home... i've posted recently on my blog about it for more info but if anyone could help by posting some tips in general it would be much appreciated. Thank you!!!!

    Backpacking Blog

Hey Armstrong... We've not thought about that to be honest, but sure! We land in Brisbane on the 10th, and will just be travelling up the east coast towards cairns... Private inbox me when you're around brisbane, we will be back at surfers on as many weekends as we can afford to visit my brother so we'll be around S
  8. Hello, Can someone let me know if providing a statement to a joint bank account will be ok at the boarder? Sounds a stupid question now that I'm writing it, but me and my partner are transferring all our money into one joint NAB account before we leave the UK. They will send me a statement as proof of funds, but I just wanted to be sure that if we were to be stopped at the boarder and asked to show funds that it doesn't need to come from a single account each.... I think i'm way over-thinking it, but i thought it best to check as there is a chance we will get split up and the boarder if/when he is questioned about his convictions. Thank you S
  9. Hello, I move to oz next month and will be travelling and doing the agricultural work for around 4 months. I'll be sharing all the best places to visit, the tips of the travellers we meet, hostel reviews and the general day to day of travelling. I'll be leaving my mum and dad here in England and heading out there with my partner, so I'll be sure to be sharing some home sickness tips too! I hope you all find it useful, if any of you know any good blogs please share!! http://myoztravels.blogspot.co.uk/ Thanks
  10. Hi Guys, I've been speaking to a friend over here, who was asking about my working Holiday Visa.... And asked if they would be allowed to open a business whilst on a WHV? Does anyone know the rules about this? I can't find any information anywhere about the restrictions on opening a business. Any help that would be great. Thank you S
  11. Thank you for your replies, I understand it's a risk but I would love to give him as much notice as possible. I'm the project manager at the company, and involved in the running of the e-businesses also so I can see it being quite a lengthy hand-over... Thinking personally I want to help and make sure I don't drop him in it, but after reading your responses I think I'll wait. I'm on holiday the first 2 weeks of July, so I think I'll do what your doing StevieF8 and give 6 weeks... Again, thank you all. S
  12. Hello, I am making the move down under in September and I really don't want to leave it until the last 4 weeks to hand my notice in at work. If I tell my employer now, is there anything he can do to get rid of me sooner? I don't think he will, but if anyone knows where i stand with this legally that would be great! Thank you S
