  1. Hi. You can apply after your degree no need for masters. If you are fresh out of uni you will require work experience the same way as the uk before completing part 3 equivalent.
  2. If you have an ipad you can also use the iplayer app etc and stream to the apple box. Again using unblock us or similar
  3. Easiest way is buy a Now TV box for UKtv and an apple tv box for Netflix USA. I use unblock us.com only a few dollars per month. No pvr required for on demand. Picture quality good too. Currently use 200gb download deal with Optus.
  4. Hi. I moved to Gold Coast 4 months ago wife wife and 3 year old. We stayed in holiday accommodation for first 4 weeks as it took that length of time to find rental accommodation furnished. The coast is terrific having kids as there is so much to do. I was lucky enough to find work on the coast within 3 months.
  5. I sent over 100 resumes and the consensus was that I had to be in the country. Jobs are sprouting up everyday in Brisbane now, plus even a few on the Gold Coast which is where I'm heading to in 4 weeks time with no job lined up.
  6. They definitely accept colour scanned copies, I had no problems and received visa last year.
  7. Thanks Lambethald I've been on car sales the $5000 cars with mileage over 200k is scary considering we have a Vauxhall Astra twin top that's 7 years old only 50k miles and is now only worth 2K! I suppose it's good that cars hold their value in Oz.
  8. Excellent thanks. Would never have known that. Cheers!
  9. The most ridiculous comment ever. I was blown away with the Brisbane night time skyline and glow of the buildings when on the citycat on the river last September.
  10. Hi folks I arrive in the Gold Coast in 6 weeks time with my family to set up a new business. As I will be self employed car finance is out of the question as I would need 2 years of financials. Has anyone been in a similar position? Obviously I can't pay full price for a decent car so the alternative is to buy is cheap $5,000 car or to rent from Apex at $800 a month which is very expensive. Interested to hear of anyone else's similar dilemma and if there is an alternative I haven't come across. Thanks John
  11. Jump on the boat from Brisbane city along to Bulimba which is a nice family suburb - the boat journey itself is good.
  12. Try this you can compare different cities http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/city_result.jsp?country=Australia&city=Brisbane
  13. Heading to the Gold Coast this year as soon as my house sells........
  14. Do you eat fresh food for $100 per week? That's only $7 each per day? Seems very low. We are moving next year and I had budgeted for $1,000 per month for 2 adults and a 3 year old.
  15. We travelled straight through from Brisbane to Glasgow stopping in Singapore and Dubai and had no problems with a 2 year old, plus jet lag was fine. On the way to Oz was a nightmare as per my last post though. Would definitely try the 12 hour stop over.
  16. We are heading back next year and your plan sounds great. It took us literally 6 days to recover from jet lag doing it straight through. It takes so long to recover having young kids. Where did you stop over?
  17. I would say a night flight is definitely better if you can do a 14 hour or so leg. We only done a 7 hour first leg which meant waking up at 430am uk time and feeling tired the rest of the journey. If you can go from England to Singapore or similar distance then I'd go for a night flight.
  18. We travelled with a 2 year old to Oz last month - non- stop flights from Glasgow to Dubai, Dubai to Singapore, then onto Melbourne. Left Glasgow at 930pm which in hindsight was a mistake as the second leg of the flight was tiring through lack of sleep on the first flight. The jet lag was awful doing it this way as opposed to the last time we travelled and stopped at Singapore for 2 days. If going non-stop with young children I would travel the first leg during the day and the second leg at night, unless you fly from London and can travel 14 hours straight at night to begin with. What age are your kids?
  19. No tv isn't that important at all to me. Hardly watch it myself
  20. Seemingly you can use it in Oz if you change your DNS on the now tv box. You can do this through http://www.smartydns.com/news/nowtv-wuaki-uk/. Haven't tried it but looks a better and cheaper way than Foxtel. Just keep your Now UK account running.
  21. Not sure if iPads are the same but mine was locked to 3 network and I attempted to unlock it for travelling to Australia however, 3 network said that it would work with any provider overseas and it did.
  22. Hi, I'm just back from Melbourne, the Gold Coast and Brisbane. I'd recommend Broadbeach in the Gold Coast as it's away from the tacky Surfers Paradise. Tons of theme parks to go to which can be accessed by local buses about 40mins away. the Talisman apartments have sensational beach views. Brisbane is worth a visit we went for 2 days, Southbank is lovely and overall I'd say Brisbane is my favourite Oz city and definitely the most under rated. Meriton apartments off Roma Street have new apartments at good rates. enjoy! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - now Free
