    Project builder

Hi greetings to all! I hereby pursuing Masters in project management in Australia and graduated as an Bachelor of Architect from India. And also got one year of experience from an architectural firm. As per SOL 2017, Architecture is the course listed for skilled occupancy but not project management. So I consulted few migration agents, they said that I can access my current course through VETASSESS. But I'm not sure which occupation should I choose? Architecture Project builder Construction project manager. Please guide me. Thanks.
  2. hi guys i am in my last semester of my bachelors degree in architecture currently studying at curtain university, bentley campus, perth. i intend to apply for a temporary visa and hopefully get a permanent residency. the question i have is that i have looked at the skilled migration visa and the assessment board that assesses qualifications in the field of architecture - AACA Architects Accreditation council of Australia. From my understanding, to get registered as an architect in Australia you need to obtain a masters degree in architecture plus need to have completed a certain hours of practice that add to approximately 1.5 to 2 years. but that's for a working license as an architect right? Does this apply to the skill assessment application too? do i need to complete my masters degree before i can apply for a skill assessment? or Could i apply after my Bachelor's degree? anyone who has gone through the process of their skill assessment with AACA? please help, any info is greatly appreciated :notworthy:

    Architect

My wife and I are considering emigrating to Australia (possibly Melbourne or Sydney) within the next 12 months. I am a qualified Architect (British) with 15 years experience. I have designed on a variety of buildings including schools, leisure centres (swimming pools), stadiums and museums and tend to be front end design rather than detail. I use AutoCAD for many years and more recently the practice I work for has moved to Revit, (although I am in the process of learning at the moment). Can anyone offer any advice regarding my job prospects if we made the move? Any help appreciated.

    UK Architect move to Australia

Hi Everyone, Firstly, I'm a newbie who's spent the last week or so trawling the forums and have been amazed at the amount of information. We're looking for a bit of advice, and I suppose a bit of reassurance that we're heading along the right path!! I'm 28 years old and a fully qualified Architect in the UK with 3.5 years post part-3 experience. My same-sex partner, who is 31, works in I.T. and has about 15 years experience in the industry, but no formal tertiary qualifications. We've been together for over 11 years (living together for the past 10 or so). We're looking to emigrate to Melbourne, or at least that area/state so first question is, what's the architecture and IT sectors like there at the moment? From what I've seen, the 'Skilled - Independent - Migrant (subclass 175) visa' seems to be the only one available that doesn't require some form of sponsorship, and should allow me to include my partner on the application. Am I correct that the total visa fee would be $AUD 2,575, and that the second installment mentioned isn't applicable? I cannot see any additional fee for including a partner? What timescales are people experiencing, and any idea what priority Architects are getting? Is it worth boosting your points total by sitting the additional English test, or is the standard 15 for holding a British Passport working for most? Anything else that's worth knowing? I also understand that I have to have my skills assessed before I can apply, and this is done through a provisional assessment by the Architects Accredition Council of Australia (AACA) at a cost of $AUD 1,050 - has anyone got any experience of this (time scales/completing forms and getting correct info (some of it seems quite strange) etc) as this would be really helpful! It also seems like I'll need to do work experience and go for a final assessment after a year or so - all seems crazy after spending so much time and money on Part 3 in the UK. But if it has to be done, then so be! So UK Architects who have done the move, any advice you have would be great!! My biggest concern is that, assuming i get the assessment away this week, if it takes longer than 14 weeks, this would mean my visa application would be under the new points system (which I don't think would be a problem), and I would guess an increased fee as well! Anyone know if this is the case? Other costs associated with the visa seem to be medical costs and police check costs (if required) - am I missing any others? I've probably got 1001 other questions, but don't want to use my forum quota in one post!! It's such an expensive process that we just want to make sure we've got it all right in our heads! If anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated!! Graeme

    Job as Architect

Hi, my boyfriend is a 33 years old polish architect and we were wondering what we should do in order to get Visa to move to Australia? As I understood you need to find a sponsor. What should we do to find one? How difficult is in your opinion to move there as Architect? Thanks.
  6. Visa granted this week, however I am hoping to secure a job before making the move out to WA. My question is will a Australian Employer consider me if I am not in Australia yet? Any advice welcome and much appreciated. (btw I am a fully qualified Architect with 6 years experience)
  7. I am currently in Sydney on a working holiday visa. I have been here since feb and i am already loving it would like to stay long term. I am a graduate architect who is maybe interested in setting up my own building design business. I dont really know the best way of going about this yet so came on here looking for some advice. I am unsure at this stage as to whether my uk degrees would be enough for me to trade as a building designer so if anyone has any advice on this also i would be grateful. I am thinking of 2 different options: 1 would be to do a part time degree in in sustainable building design which start in feb 2012. If i did this would be able to apply for a student visa for that year now? and on a student visa can you work at the same time? 2 would be to set up business now as a building designer, but as i am say im not sure if i am qualified to do this and i dont know what the constraints of a business visa are? is it possible to get a business visa with a business that isnt established?? and what are the time frames of being accepted for this kind of a visa? Hope someone can help me!
  8. Hi all, This is my first post on this forum, so apologies if I have broken any forum rules here, but here goes.... Myself and my girlfriend want to migrate to Melbourne as her mother lives in Dromana. We have applied for visas under my gfs marketing masters qualification, with me as a de facto partner, which was going fine until marketing was removed from the skill shortage list in June of this year. The visa process was around 1 year through and going well, but since June we have been stopped in our tracks. Our Melbourne based solicitor now feels our only option is to apply for residency under my skills (with my gf as de facto) which is where the fun really begins. I am an SAP Basis Architect and have been in this specialist field for over 8 years (I’m 30), holding down 4 consultancy based jobs during that time. However I do not have any qualifications to my name, other than A-levels! I've never have any issues finding employment in the UK, my CV and experience speaks for itself, but I'm concerned how I'll get on when applying for our Australian visas. 2 questions I'm really asking here; 1. Does anyone have any experience or know of someone who does, in migrating to Australia with SAP skills (especially Basis)? 2. Has anyone have a similar lack of qualifications to me, but still managed to be assessed successfully by PASA? Many thanks for reading my post and I would welcome any information that you feel may be beneficial to our application. Yours in hope.... Gary

  10. I am currently seeking Marine Engineers and Naval Architects to be part of the Australian Warfare Destroyer project in Adelaide, South Australia. If you are seeking long-term employment security, career advancement and the opportunity to be involved with Australia's largest shipbuilding project, I would love to hear from you by email on j.gaitaneris@mpsgroup.com.au.
  11. Is there a recession in Oz? How bad is it? Back in January we booked one year working visas and flights to head over for a year beginning in August 2009. We plan to look for jobs in architecture and possibly something in teaching (I am aware that my teaching qualification may not be transferable so am happy to do teaching assistant or similar). We are also happy to work in unskilled jobs if they're available too. We aim to start in Sydney but could move to the jobs. We have heard that Australia is in a recession similar to the UK, so are wondering whether we are likely to find work upon arrival? Or, should we change our plans and head elsewhere? Any feedback would be gratefully received. Thank you.
