  1. Hi Bec I am Ros (33) originally from Manchester. My husband and I live on the Southside inner city suburb. I have only been in Brisbane for 4 months so always up for meeting new friends. Looks like you have had a few replies, maybe we could organise to meet for drinks somewhere! :-)
  2. Thanks Matt I will give it a try! I think there was a typo on the result last night :-) we we are in Bulimba so not far from you in East Brisbane.
  3. Hi Hodgies2oz We have settled in Bulimba, we love it here! It's close to city and has a really good high street with lots of cafes, restaurants and a few bars! Not sure about the schools as we don't have children but I can imagine the schools are pretty good in this area. They say you should live on the same side of the river that you are working! When end is the big move?
  4. Hey Mate Just stumbled onto this thread! Me and my wife are living in Brissy, originally from Manchester (Worsley)! Only been here 4 months but already found chumleys! Not sure if you're a red or blue, but I am a Man City fan and I am definitely interested in how to get MOTD??? PM me with the details please. if your ever up for a beer let me know?! Hopefully I will have bragging rights after the Derby tonight. cheers Pete

    Help RRV

Hi This question has probably been answered before but I cannot find a thread. Please can someone offer some advice, we have a PR189 Visa Validated April 2014, moved permanently in December 2014. I understand that ideally we need to stay in Australia for 2 years out of the 5 years. My questions are: 1. Is the 2 years consecutive from December 2014 - December 2016 without leaving at all? 2. We are planning a vacation for 1 week to Bali - will this affect the 2 years or will we still be classed as living in Australia? ie if we go on vacation will the 2 year clock start again from the date we get back to Aus? Thanks Pete
  6. Hey Javi I have recently arrived in Brisbane (6 weeks ago), living in Morningside with my hubby, no kids yet, I am 33, love going out and always happy to make new friends! Let me know if you do organise a catch up! Rossalyn x
  7. Hi, I'm in need of some assistance. I need some copies of my training certificates certifying. Does anyone no where I can do this?? I'm in Brisbane. I did did have some when I came over and they we're certified by a police officer friend of mine. Thanks
  8. Hi Me and my wife have recently moved to Brisbane too, (10 days in) we are also from Manchester in our early 30's and would be interested in meeting new friends. We are in Bulimba, so just over from you guys in The Valley. Pete
  9. Hi Gill Me and my husband are moving to Morningside, Brisbane in December, we know absolutely nobody there so we would be up for meeting some fellow northerners, we are from Manchester! we are early 30's no kids, hubby is Fridge Tech and I work in Sales. i will get in touch when we are settled as by then we will need a bevvy or 2 if you fancy it? and we would love to hear how you are getting on and you can share some hints and tips for us newbies! speak soon Ros
  10. It is approx £160 for up to 30kg weight. We have also been advised to clean my husbands tools thoroughly with Jeyes fluid. you can probably get cheaper quotes but we are using the same shipping company for everything... for an easy life!!!!
  11. Hi It is confusing, I think people ship their belongings in different order depending on their priorities. Me and my husband are flying over in December and my husband needs his tools for work too, so we are sending the tools by air freight it takes around 7-10 days I think. The rest of our stuff is being shipped as normal. We are sending the tools a few days before we leave, so they should arrive a few days after we get there. I hope this helps and makes sense and good luck! Ros
  12. Hi all, Are there any fridge/AC guys out there that know of anyone recruiting around December?? My Wife and I are moving to Brisbane in early December on a 189 PR visa. I just thought I'd ask as i'm not getting many responses from the companies I've applied with, probably because I'm not there yet! Thanks Pete
  13. Hi Indi i sat the Vetassess assessment earlier this year. I imagine you will be doing it at the college in Wembley as I did. The whole assessment lasted 8 hours and there was only three of us! We started off with a small cold room set up just like the F-gas assessment. Checking running temps, superheat etc, reclaim, leak test, vac then re-charge. Then again checking superheat etc. Then there's a bit of pipe work assembly with brazes and flares then test them with OFN. Then there's some electrical testing of compressors, windings, star delta etc. Then when you think it's over, you have to sit an exam! The assessor asks you questions while you're doing the assessment as well. it's pretty straight forward, stuff that you do on a daily basis. Some people just don't like being watched!:biglaugh: Just relax and you'll be fine! Pete
  14. Hi zk2102, just out out of interest, how long is the commute to Brissie from Hope island??
