Wow thanks for the replies guys! really appreciate this. Job sites seem to think Arbs get paid alright, and my Gf has a friend from her uni course living in Adelaide as a a PT and is not too bad. I did not know about the zero hours though so thanks, is that what "casual" means? And i also didn't realise that perhaps the job situation in Brisbane was as bad as it is. 2 friends from my course went out, 1 to Adelaide in Sept and 1 to Canberra in Dec and both got jobs within a month. Not sure if those areas are doing differently. Also I like a scoop of protein shake after a workout but we don't use anything else we just like to eat healthy. No problem doing most of the shop at Aldi and getting a few things elsewhere.

Hi guys I've been going through threads on this forum and others and help websites etc and am just trying to finalise the numbers so any help and extra tops are more than welcome. Background: Me(22) and my gf(26) are moving out to Brisbane on 2nd of march. I'm an Arborist with tickets and just over a year experience in the industry, some climbing but most ground. Gf is a personal trainer (Uni degree and other courses). Based on another thread here and on responses these are the numbers I've come up with based on MINIMUM WAGE. As far as I can tell both of or jobs receive more than that so seems weird that not everyone is living the great life in Oz! Rent: 600 week(actually looking city apartments more at the 450 mark) 2580 month Gas: 60 Water: 110 Electric: 140 Broadband: 80 Mobiles: 120 Food: 400 Socialising: 600 (CANNOT imagine this we are not party animals but do like swimming, exercising, running) Clothes: 300 (Again really seems like more than we would spend) Car: Will buy 1 second hand car as Gf will be working at gyms in the city Fuel: 400 Reg and Ins: 100 Total: 4890 Monthly salary of minimum wage - tax and Medicaid: 2468 x2: 4936 Seems perfect since we should both earn more than minimum wage and won't spend as much as estimated. Is there anything im missing? Also looking for advice on moving. We will not have jobs till we go out there but we have money to survive for 3-4 months. Should we try find apartment we like online and fill out forms and such now so we can move in when we land? Or go temp accommodation for a month while we have to wait for applications to be accepted etc. We have bank statements. References from previous jobs and a stunning review from previous landlord.
