  1. Welcome to the waiting room thinh7tn We applied a year ago and although our daughters partner's details were recorded, only our daughter was nominated as our sponsor. As far as I know, only you as your mums legal relative/child can sponsor her. The link below will take you to the DIBP 143 fact sheeet https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/143-#tab-content-1
  2. Hi all Latest update, opened my email this morning to find both our 600 visas had been granted, which was quite a shock as I only applied for them on the 23rd, but we're not complaining as neither of the visas have the 8503 (no further stay) condition. So, it looks like our plan (posted earlier) may just come to fruition. They were granted on the 31st May and we have till 31st May 2018 to land, so, we're going to spend the next 12 months doing the necessaries and saving, which leaves us with 10 months (currently) to wait for the 143, meaning the 12 month 600 should be just about right. If not, we'll either leave until the 143 is granted, or apply to extend the 600 as is doesn't have the 8503 condition. Whatever happens, it's an adventure
  3. Nice one Ferrets, That's another box ticked, we are doing the 600/143 route next June and never even crossed our minds whether we could ship stuff over or not. Gotta love PomsinOz, best visa agent out there
  4. We've been on this journey almost 5 years now, beginning with shall we? can we? serious for the last 2 1/2 years after deciding we can and should and in total limbo for the last 12 months since applying. I have to say, it feels a tad surreal knowing we have a fixed timeline. I think it's time for a pint of Wainwrights !!!
  5. Nice one GeoffandGill, I guess you'll be there soon, well done to you both and don't forget to let us all know how your getting on when you settle
  6. Thank's Suzy, I totally get it that you can't wait and if we could go tomorrow, we would, but to be honest, the past year has flown by, so we're thinking all the stuff we have to now in prep will make this next year pass even quicker. Best of to you too Suzy, I'm sure it will all work out for you, remember ...................it's an adventure We'll be on the Gold Coast, just north of Surfers P.
  7. Ok, latest update to our personal saga, just applied for our 600's. We've done the math and have come up with a plan to get us their sooner. Waiting time is currently 34 months and we are 12 months into that so, if we if we aim to go next June/July, that gets rid of another 12 months and allows us to sort out dogs, car, bank accounts, shipping stuff etc.etc and the 600 takes care of the last 10 months. Hopefully, by the time the 600 ends we will have the 143 and will only have to go offshore to activate it, if not and we have to leave, at least it won't be for too long. This is of course assuming that the 34 month queue time doesn't extend beyond 36 months......... Anyway, this is our current plan, which I've no doubt will change again and again, but it's killing us not knowing what to do and feeling like we're in a constant state of limbo. Plus, this plan saves us $10K applying for the new temp visa, assuming it's passes through parliament.
  8. Scrap my last post, my fault I was using comma's for the mileage and single figures for the leaving date
  9. Hi Iron Chef i've just tried contacting you as you said but I'm getting red flagged on two of the infills 1) Please provide a valid odometer reading......... the odometer reads 21432.4 2) Please provide a valid departure reading......... our departure date is intended to be 5/2/2018 When i type these in it won't accept them? lid odometer reading
  10. Hi all I'm new to this thread, but have just got it from a posting on the parent visa thread. We are 1 year in to our 143 application and are wondering if we should take our car, but don't know costs and if we should. We bought a Land Rover Discovery 4 brand new in 2014 and I love it. First time I've ever owned a new car and probaly the last now that we're spending $100k on the visa. I'd love to take it with us, so was wondering if anyone could guide me on what it would cost and if we can indeed take it. Thank's in advance for any input
  11. Hi Clarkesville It never hurts to speak to an agent, but to be honest, PomsinOZ has provided us with the best info so far. Given that your daughter has to have been a permanent resident for a minimum of 2 years, you'l be fully up to speed with all the relevant info.
  12. Ah well, as long as we continue waking up breathing every morning, everything else is a bonus, so all is good
  13. I appreciate everyone's concern and offer my apologies to all if I've given the wrong impression, but I think I need to clear something up, the comment in my reply to Suzy regarding us getting told off was light-hearted and meant to reflect their disappointment in the waiting time we are having to accept. The both of them could not be more supportive, even to the extent of offering to pay for the 143 and they fully understand that mum and dad are starting afresh. Indeed, it was them who questioned if moving to Australia is what we really wanted, but after 4 separate visits over the past four years, our minds were made up and the addition of our wonderful granddaughter sealed the deal. I can assure all that the decision was always ours, we have always planned to retire in a warmer climate and if we can do that with our daughter and granddaughter close by, all the better. It really is us who can't wait to get there, our daughter and son in law just want us to reach our dream sooner -if possible.
  14. Very observant of you Suzy and we had indeed decided to wait for the 143, what we hadn't factored in to that decision was our daughter and son in law's reactions and I can tell you they were not best pleased to say the least. Never been told off by my daughter before and needless to say but, they promptly put us in our place. So, We've spent the last few nights discussing finances, visa costs, private health insurance etc. etc. and agreed to see what or if, the new temp parent visa will work. We also have two dogs to put through the process which we haven't yet started and I'm not going anywhere without them !! We considered the 600, but we would have to leave after 12 months and as far as I can tell, you can't apply for the new temp visa while on shore, plus, by the time the dogs are Ok to go, the new temp visa will be in play anyway, so we're thinking we will only require the 3 year version as we figure that will be sufficient to see us to the end of the 143 apllication. This is why I asked the question about processing times. Truth is, we just want to go now and don't want to wait. If we have to, then so be it, but if we can make it happen sooner, we will. By the way, good for you girl, get yourself gone and I truly hope it all works out for you. To quote the missus (boss), "don't worry, its an adventure"
  15. Does anyone have an idea on what the processing times might be for the new temp parent visa
  16. We all agree the best place to be is in the queue, which is indeed fair and I for one am glad to be in it. However, I believe continually increasing the queue time isn't fair. The criteria for the visas hasn't changed for some time, I therefore assume that the government did not anticipate all allocated visas to be applied for and staffed the department accordingly, rather than allocate more staff (case officers) to deal with the applications, it appears there current answer is to come up with a new visa, which will undoubtedly generate more revenue, but who is going to deal with these 15,000 visas if they are all applied for? I accept there are parents moving from other countries and I'm sure those parents are equally frustrated with the increasing queue times, but this is PomsinOz and we are Poms wanting to move to OZ and utilising the input and advice from all our fellow Poms in the same position (or already there) the best way we can to get there as quickly as we can. I don't think there are any politics here, well not from me, just good and healthy debating of the matter resulting in opinions on how we believe the queue could be shortened, or prevented from getting longer.
  17. Fantastic, at this rate we will may end up applying for the aged parent visa !!!!! Wasn't the point of increasing the CPV fees to prevent parents willing to pay the substantial extra costs, having to wait years for the NCPV. Surely at some point, they will have to address these waiting times with more gusto. I think once the CPV waiting room reaches 3 years, which incidentally, seems inevitable, future applicants may think twice about applying. This will of course bring the waiting time down, but will also mean allot less $90K + payments being put into the OZ economy.
  18. Us too Kath I must say that by the time we get our 143's this will be the longest we'e ever spent in a "waiting room", but at least we're in it, so the wait can only get shorter. This site has been excellent for us and we appreciate all the helpful information provided to us thus far, rest assured, when we become a member of the granted 143 Visa club, we will continue to support pomsinOz and hopefully something from our journey will help future waiting roomers.
  19. We've decided not to apply for any other visa and just wait for our 143 to come. In the meantime, we will continue to visit and shuttle them back home to ease the pain.
  20. You make a valid point paolo, to be honest we are always looking at getting to OZ in the correct legal way and just want to do the right thing but definitely worth a discussion with the boss (the wife) as long as we in no way risk our 143 application,
  21. I was just sat here thinking along the same lines and contemplating what will be !! There's little point in us applying for the new temp visa as I'm assuming it will be $5,000 each. As we are now 12 months in to our 143, the are only reasons preventing us from applying for a 600, a) the 6 months out of every 18 were we can't be in OZ and b) the fact that I can't work, which is really annoying as I'm quite happy to contribute the the OZ budget. Alan, as I can work remotely, would it be possible for me to continue being employed in my current role whilst living/staying in OZ? I can transfer my employment status from being employed to being a consultant for which the company will be invoiced, any income I then get would be declared in OZ and taxed accordingly.
  22. They do actually read these posts, whether they consider any of our comments is anyone's guess.
