Can someone answer the question if its ok to have all documents signed and certified by the Post Office. Is this acceptable with the Visa applications?
  13. Hi again Told you I'd be back soon. Not so much about costs, more a timing issue, is it possible for us to apply for a 12 month holiday visa (600) I think, then apply for the 143 whilst we are there? I know we would have to be offshore when the visa is grated, but this would let us be with them sooner.
  14. Hi Alan Thanks for coming back to me, to be honest I think we're just going to go through the 143 and be done with it, we won't have much left after the process but having visited three times already, it really does feel like we're going home each time we land and we definitely can't afford to keep going back for a holiday. I guess its time to start organising, I've got a million and one questions going round my head so don't be surprised if I'm back soon. Thanks again Alan Bryan
  15. Hi all I wonder if anyone can help clarify a few things as we just don't seem to be able to get any direct answers. Basically, my wife and I have just turned 50 and are looking at making the move to Oz to live with our daughter and her fiance. They are eligible to sponsor us and We are looking at the contributory route (143) but in order to spread the cost, we were thinking of taking the two year temporary two year visa (173) first and using the two years to apply for the full 143 visa. The problem is, we can't seem to work out how much it will actually cost for us both to get the 173 and if those costs are then deducted from the 143 visa, I hope this makes sense, and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Bryan
  16. Hi all, The wife and I are seriously thinking of moving to Oz to live with or at least near to our daughter. She's been there almost three years and is waiting for her PR to come through in the next 12 months or so. we're investigating just now as we don't expect to be buying flights for the 2 years (and that's amusing we get in). We think the best way will be a CPV, and know the costs involved however, we will be 52 and 51 when we plan to move, so because we are not at retirement age, my question is, will I be able to work when and if we get there on a CPV?? Don't get me wrong, I have no desire to work full time however, I'm no millionaire, so paying the CPV, the bond, moving the dogs etc. etc will not exactly leave us feeling financially secure and as we are not at retirement age and don't want to rely on our daughter I would probably want to work at least part time. I'm a joiner by trade and on both of our last two visits, I have made contacts who have said they would happily give me work if I/we landed. Plus my daughter and her fiancée (whilst both have good jobs) are also setting up their own business which would require someone of my background, so why not me. Any thoughts or info would be welcome. Many thanks in advance Bry
