  1. We were just lucky first job offer fell through as process was taking so long doing vetassess on Saturday so hopefully other sponsor will hold on till we get through all the application process just spent hours emailing all plumbing companies in area we wanted to go to
  2. It's a scam we have been looking into this since last nov and contacted every plumbing board in oz all said same. We also had the carrot dangled with 10 jobs in December and checked out company concerned and their website mo jobs posted and no one in human resources knows anything about it. Make up ur own mind we r just glad our money is still in our bank and feel we had a narrow escape.
  3. georgia joe did you have tobring tools...will be travelling from ireland so could be a problem for me to get them over.. if so what did you bring and how was practical I have my plumbing practical on 24th March any advice would be welcocme
  4. Lego an is it really that bad??? Seriously having second thoughts about it now! Hearing nothing but horror stories even saw plumbers from uk and Ireland advertising on job rapido practically begging for work and as we are bringing kids worried it will all go belly up on us
  5. Who's the plonker now??? That's exactly what we found out went down the road with this company and thankfully found out just in time it was a scam they even went as far as getting a guy to skype us about job in oz who said he would give us a job if we completed course. He said he was from a reputable company but would not put anything in writing so we dug further and were advised by various plumbing commissions that it was useless you still have to do oz regs course.
  6. so mr down under tradie did you get that job from the guy in Melbourne??? or any other job for that matter???? doubt it been there, skype interview, big promises if we did course we would get job???? I smell a rat or a scam!!!
  7. Will be eager to hear how it goes booked in for practical on 24th march
  8. Can you let us know where u are doing your migrants course and were u advised by gasfitter board or vetassess to do this any info much appreciated
  9. We are in Cavan and have agent in Adelaide we got all our documents done in the Police station no cost so will save you a fortune accepted by Vetassess and visa application. Just take docs and your passport and proof of address and they will do them there and then
  10. Well......u can't say it was all down to the banks we have to take some of the blame just cos there's a free n Bar at the party doesn't mean u have to drink it dry it wasn't just the banks a lot if normal folk thought they were millionaires and there was no tomorro we as a nation did go a little mad I was at the party but got there late and ended up with an overpriced home and suffering now, but hard as it is I will never let it happen to me again and will not take anything for granted in future. Life isn't about a bug house and a big car it's about living and family and fun and no bank can offer that just hard work and determination
  11. If ur being honest.....we have no money we r broke and europe are bailing us out obviously to be paid back but call it as u will our money isn't enough so for now Europe now controlled by Germany and France are paying the bills for us, Greece, and the rest of the pigs our contribution is interest only as the taxpayers and people who want to work are packing up and heading off!!
  12. this twit has made a fortune in Ireland with his tales of woe and while we do appreciate there is a worldwide recession the media here have really messed things up for us just to sell celebrity economists and newspapers. When Ireland was going through a boom this idiot was nowhere to be seen as soon as the economy turned he was on every show on tv and writing in every paper...moaning and groaning about the recession...he even did a program about why we are where we are and the gombeen couldnt do it in a tv studio no he had to travel....to America, Vegas and New York, Dubai, Iceland, and Australia the costs must have been astronomical and all this while he was telling the rest of us looking on that we were going to lose our homes our jobs our savings, I turn him off cos he turns my stomach and is just trying to cause another revenue making story for himself cos he hasnt been on tv for a while and there are so many of us escaping his type of pessimistic opportunists who by the way are in abundance in our poor little emerald isle.....and the worst ones are the ones who have not got the guts to do what we are doing getting out....would the last irish person to leave Ireland please turn out the lights...
  13. we are in the same position here in Ireland, however our situation is quite a lot more than a couple of grand. At the height of our Celtic Tiger our house was valued at 500k and both myself and hubby were in business both of which were performing well..we borrowed 250k on house and got valuation back today at 180k which was a big shock for us as we put 170k of our own money into the property...shocked is a total understatement and tempted to just throw back keys as we will never make back 250k we have lost in our lifetime.....
  14. just in the process of it ourselves but gasfitter and plumber are the same when applying for skills assessment...need to get Vetassessed and to get through the process a bottle of vodka and sleeping tablets (one at a time) is part of the survival kit you will need....stressful is putting it mildly but the relief when you have done it is only temporary cos then comes the visa and we have a job to go to....
