correct, my understanding is also the same that u dont need to be on-shore to get any Skillselect Subclass Grant (even if u applied onshore). same is true for those who applied off-shore but can be on-shore when Skillselect case being finalized. from July 1st 2012 on-shore/off-shore cease to exist.

You can either be in Australia or overseas when you apply for a Subclass 189 Skilled Independent Visa. In order to lodge from within Australia, you would need to hold a substantive visa or a Bridging A, B or C visa. Once you apply from within Australia, you would receive a bridging visa allowing you to remain in Australia during processing of your visa application.

I think no need panic. 1st Set of Invitation are not available before 1st August, then there remains ceiling for New applicants. Even WA SS just posted - their July SS availability places limited by monthly allocation ! DIAC processing capability 1k per week, I think most old allocation will be done already by the time New applicants get Invite (note Ceiling limits many occupation) and 60 days allowed for applicants who receive Invitation to lodge their application. Thru it all DIAC has established better control of the process as a whole. I am sure they have done their homework well this whole week and know their numbers. Cheers!

this shows annual planned Family sponsored approaching quota - Family sponsored applicants may have to wait till July 1st then. Good luck. but good news for Cat-5 State Sponsored, that they taking up Cat-5 State sponsored now by May 31 (those poor guys had been waiting years)
