  3. hi Kirsty! we arrived here at the beginning of November so are still really finding our feet! there is me and the hubby both 38 and two girls age 10 and nearly 4, we are in Tapping which is just a five minute drive from Currambine. Have just been through the enrolling in school thing, securing a long term rental etc so if I can be any help let me know. would be really good to meet up, am keen to start meeting people and make sure I keep my sanity ;-)) drop us a message when you get here... Claire x
  4. Thanks for your advice folks, I have been looking online but think nothing can beat that gut feeling when you walk into a school, will wait and see what November brings!! (aside from stress!!)
  5. Yes, i guess i hadn't appreciated that, the benefit I was thinking is that she will have made a few friends who she could meet up with over the summer holidays - February seems a lomg time to wait (i imagine!) if you are 10, to start building up those friends networks through school - with just me and her little sister for company over the holidays!
  6. We are heading for Perth early November and want to enroll our daughter in a school ideally for the last few weeks of the term before summer holidays. We have booked a short term rental for when we arrive but obviously one of the main challenges for the first couple of weeks is to confirm where we want to live (and secure a longer term rental!) and which school we want to enroll her in. Am i living in cloud cuckoo lad to think we can just rock up to our chosen school part way through November, enroll her and off we go?!! Should i be worried about getting her in somewhere (which will be a state primary)... Hmm - thoughts or comments please?!
  7. Yes, I am quite happy with matching their requirements to my specific experiences and achievements, I guess I have just not done it in four pages of supporting info though!!...
  8. hi there, am hoping for some advice please! I have started looking at jobs in preparation for when I am ready to apply later on in the year, one thing I have noticed and am not quite sure how to address is that a few of the job adverts I have looked at ask for "a comprehensive CV and address in no more than four pages suitability against the essential work related requirements"... I am used to sending a short covering letter with my CV or an employer specific application form when I have applied in the uk - what do aus employers expect when they ask for this? (four pages sounds a lot!), a statement matching requirements against specific skills / achievements from previous roles?.. the jobs I am looking at are generally public sector and generally project or support roles if it makes a difference?.. any advice appreciated! thanks Claire
  9. Yey - got my visa today!! So pleased, feel like it's really real now!! (lodged end Feb) Got the 100 which I hoped as we have been married 13 years but you never know! Perth, here we come, booking flights for Oct, need to get on with clearing the house now! good luck to everyone waiting...
  10. Ok, a really dumb question I know but have to ask! we are waiting the kids Aussie passports coming through (citizenship by descent thanks to the hubby) - when they travel with them I presume they show the uk passport when checking in here and the Oz passport when going through security there?.. is that right?!..
  11. dunno but I'd give it a go!! Looks gorg!...
  12. I went to the Spire and found them very efficient and professional but all very quick for the money paid! (I found them ok - had a sat nav and it took me straight to them). I was really suprised that they didn't really ask me about my medical history!! I have never had any major health problems but they didn't really ask! Can't comment though re heart problems, on the form you need to take you will declare it, not sure how they would follow it up...
  13. Thanks for the info chaps - looks like I just need to be patient then!! we are not planning on going till November so think we will wait before booking flights, be good to secure a sale on our house here first!
  14. Well we had our CO assigned at the end of Feb re: my Partner visa, had medicals and police checks requested, completed and sent off, so what happens next?! I have seen the usual comment of "5-6 months to process" - will we hear anything much between now and then? Are they likely to ask for anything else from us or will it just 'happen' in July / August time?... Any stories from other PIO members appreciated!...
