  1. Hi loulouhew we are hopfully moving April, we had sold house but its now fell through so new buyers needed. Hubby is an electrician aswell, where about in Perth you looking to move to?

  3. Hi id like to jump in here, id also like bit of advise on this question, we are a family of five, three boys aged 12, 5 and 7 months. Looking to live in Ocean reef/Joondalup area we think. Would be renting to start with four bedrooms, not bothered about how many bathrooms etc, nice area, family area. We will be running a car, want cable tv, internet, phone. Food we usually spend about £400 a month in uk. Average state school costs, both primary and high. Do you have to pay council tax, refuge collection? those sort of things any help is great thank you.
  4. Hi i recently posted a similar post on here myself, i have three boys 12,5 and 7 months. 12 year old cant wait, baby doesnt know any different, but my 5 yr old does we have always told him the truth from day one, he has had a few sad days and wants to stay with grandparents here in uk. Its been very hard, was upset the day we sold the house, only started school sept but loves it and his teacher adores him and i know they will really miss him. Grandparents and other relatives dont really help as many tell him they love him and dont want him to go. but after saying all that he is excited about moving and we are staying with grandparents for a few weeks before we leave in April. He cant wait to see a koala and kangaroo in the wild, i know he will be ok but im also well aware hes going to have bad days. We have told we will come back to visit and hopefully people will visit us but cant promise that. Its very hard as trying to keep everyone happy and keep sane myself. So my advice tell her now so she can prepare to leave aswell she will be upset but not as upset when finds out not going back and didnt give family/friends that extra hug. x
  5. Hi thanks for that im already registered on their. thanks any way
  6. Hi can anyone help looking for info on where best to find jobs for fire alarm technicians in either Perth or Brisbane. Anyone know any good companies looking for either engineers or managment roles. Cheers.
  7. Our five year old has been upset last few days and says hes not moving. Says going to live with grandparents who are more than happy to play to this, which doesnt help. Hard to see him so upset think its because weve sold our home, just had his birthday and christmas coming. Is there anything can do which may help it a bit easier for him.
  8. for a laugh to see how terrible i do im gonna stick, firm believer you should always go with first thoughts and all that rubbish lol
  9. fun game, i just know im gonna be last lol
  10. Im going for 31 days as it started to warm up last feb and was wearing summer clothes by march then went all down hill again lol
  11. Perthbum i have no idea why you come on these forums as ive never once saw a post from you with something nice to say. The OP was just saying about their life and how happy they are which i think is great that they made the right decision for them. It doesnt work out for everyone but at least every single person that has moved anywhere in the world can at least hold their head up and be proud that they had the guts to try something new. For some it works for others it doesnt theres no need for loads of people to moan about it just because they have an opinion on the uk so what and as for Dudley they are correct its not the best place to live in my opinion but then if you dont like where u live then try and move somewhere else, guess what they did!!!!!
  12. Hi i agree with the other posts its your own personnel choice, we chose to use an agent as didnt want to spend all that money and get it wrong and have to do it all again. Our agent was brilliant he was really helpful and we had to put application on hold twice and once for 12 months plus and didnt charge us anything to take it up again afterwards. We have kept in touch with him since and throughout the whole process he kept us informed, always replied to any phone calls emails etc he even called Oz for us on many occasions when our co didnt reply to an email hed sent and got up in the early hours to call them. The agents are based in london and are a very highly regarded solicitors, if you look on their website you will see what i mean, they deal with celebrities etc. They do not charge any different to other agents but i feel they do go extra mile. The agency is called Taylor Hampyon solicitors and we used Sammy Naight who is from Oz himself. Any how who ever you choose good luck to you.
  13. once you get your visa yes you get 12 months to activate it, then have four years to move to oz so a total of five years. soz cant help with pension bit x
  14. Hi i have recently used an agent who went the extra mile he was amazing, hubby also self employed electrician more complicated being self employed bit more paperwork involved but straight forward really, agent helped with this. we also did vetassess like yourself. I cant remember the exact fees but it was about a grand for the agent i think but we was told all costs from day one, we had no hassel as any problems that occured agent dealt with. Medicals we had in bham with spires medical they was excellent especially when there was a problem an dealt with it for us an no extra cost. the medicals were about £250 each adult and £175 child over 10 i think, and under this age £75.00. but our agent comes highly recommended his name is Sammy Naight at taylor hampton solicitors based in london. He kept us informed all the way which i believe people on here have complaint there agent didnt do. He dealt with our co when i became pregnant and had to put everything on hold and on many occasions got up very early to call oz when needed. The company he works for are a top solicitors in uk, they do not charge any different to other agents as fees normally around the same figure, but so glad he chose Sammy he was brilliant.
  15. Whats work like in brisbane at moment hubby electrician but wants to work fire alarm industry, is the commute to brisbane an easy one from that area hubby used to travelling around hr or so to go to work.
  16. sounds like things are going well for you. What area of queensland are you living
  17. Hi Kirsty, we are a very close family also an i really worry but i also want to give it a go, i have my parents asking constantly why cant i just move by the sea in the uk, its hard for them to understand the need an pull i feel but i feel awful leaving them all behind, my parents just coming up to 70 and hubbys parents only grand kids guilt is horrible. Our house has just gone on the markets and all i had from parents was its a beautiful house cant understand why your selling. just hopeing they will be ok when we leave x
  18. Hi we used an agent who helped us with everything, its really worth the money if you have a more difficult case or dont want to get it wrong. We used an agency called Taylor Hampton in London, our agent was Sammy naight he was brilliant and helped us gain state sponsorship, being self employed so all relevant paper work and much more he really went the extra mile. If you do call him tell him Lesley Bruckshaw recommended him as i like him to know i still recommend him after all hes done for us, its nice to have someone you can ask the questions to an get a straight answer. Good Luck
  19. Hi 1st thing is yes get state sponsorship to help your points, i know its wrong but you do not then have to live in that state so you can get sponsored by one state but move somewhere else you do not need to wait two yrs even thou it tells you that. 2nd thing i agree when self employed its a nightmare because its even more paperwork involved, but everyone needs to do all the relevant tests. 3rd i would def contact another agent, yes it costs money but its the best money we even spent as our agent was amazing, emailed all the time, spoke to relevant people in oz when needed regardless of the time, helped with paperwork for being self employed and helped with state sponsorship. We used a company called Taylor Hampton who are agents based in London our agents name is Sammy Naght, he was brilliant they are a top class solicitors/agents who charge the same rates as other agents but take a look who the company represent, they are the law firm that started the phone scandal with the news papers and getting damages for the celebs and millie dowlers family. Sammy is still in touch with us today eventhou we got our visa a few months back he always goes the extra mile, i would recommend him to anyone. Good luck with what you decide but i agree after getting this far get application checked see if anyway you can get your points up, then put in your application and see what happens. Hope you get to live your dream.
  20. Hi all we are moving hopefully early 2013, we are aged both 40 at xmas have three boys aged 11,4 and 5 months. We have family in Perth but have only seen them once when they came to uk for our wedding in 1996 lol we are also looking at moving north or maybe freemantle but hopefully we will be able to make decision before we go. Hubby is an electrician by trade but prefers the fire industry so he will be looking for work in that industry rather than electrics. We have told all our family and most of our friends, who was all supportive but some family finding it very hard and dont want us to go and keep telling me any bad info they find trying to put me off. Im a nursery nurse but would prefer to do something different but not sure what yet as want to have a change.
  21. Hi, thanks for that reply, it does make me panic a bit when i read how hard it can be especially as you say when its birthdays etc, the thing that i know will get to me is when i call home and my parents say there going out for there birthday, because this is something we do for everyones birthday, we are a very close family and i work with one of my sisters and we all go on holiday together every year aswell. My family is supportive but find it difficult to talk about and just keep saying all the bad things to try and put me off, they say may never visit and i should just go get it out of my system and hurry up back to the uk, so sometimes its hard to stay focused, i can understand there point of view my parents are very close to the kids and have grandkids ranging from twenty two to 5 months so i think as im taking away there youngest three grandkids thats making it worse for them and having a 5 month old they feel they will never know him or have a bond with him like they do the others. Its so hard already and we havent left yet lol. my hubby worries that i wont be able to cope without them aswell, but i know i have to make the effort to make new friends and put myself out more than i do now as at the moment i dont have anyone i would call close friends as im always with my family, if i went on a night out it would be with family and i do wish to have a few close friends as over the years many friends have drifted away so i want to be able to go out and make new friends again. Any info on areas to avoid would be great especially ones you feel should be avoided. Are you renting? Heard it can be hard to get a good rental at a good price if renting how did you find this side of things? and did you need references etc? thanks trace for any help you can give.x
  22. Cheers for that was just wondering that was all we are going Perth but like you say if couldnt find work if its possible to move around but hopefully we will find work an it will be fine. Cheers
  23. Hi we have applied for 176 sponsored skilled visa for WA just wondered do we then have to stay in this state for two years or could we go anywhere within oz
  24. Hi shirley wher about in brum are you? we live in halesowen.
  25. Hi tracy thank you for replying, we are from halesowen where about was you from. We are now a scared now things are moving especially as like everyone else leaving behind everyone and everything you know its scary, we pray that we are doing the right thing i really hope so. The boys are excited jamie the eldest cant wait as wants to go monkey mia to swim with dolphins, ethan whos 4 is also excited as loves wild life but he doesnt really understand wont see his beloved grandparents for a long time. The main issue we have is my parents are 68 and not sure if they waqnt to travel such a long way, ians parent have never flown and will never visit so it really is leaving them behind. Having said that we want the kids to have more opportunities and be able to play outside more than here, the feeling of space is also something we are looking for. What do you both do for work, im a nursery nurse but dont think i want to carry that on when we move, hubby is an electrician but works mainly in the fire industry so want to be a designer or consultant there seems to be plenty of work within this industry so fingers crossed. Are your girls settling in ok? I bet the weathers better there in winter there than the terrible summer we are having, any how pls keep in touch as would be nice to make friends before we leave. Lez
