  1. I'll be doing a similar excercise soon too. I had some info from my migration agent today. Lots to read but basically you have to show that your medical needs in future, in relation to your health history, will cost the Aussie tax payer as little as possible. Also it will help to show that any reviews and checkups etc will be planned to take place on a reducing level. Also helps if you can show means of mitigating health costs such as through private insurance. Also needed is info from the medical teams stating hopefully a good prognosis moving forward. This is all for the " health waiver" part of my specific application due to cancer treatment 18 months ago.
  2. Westpac for us. No problems since opening accounts 3 years ago. Banks here actually pay you some interest too! :-)
  3. Bought a car in Vic from a dealer. No probs providing uk licence for his paperwork. Vicroads, no problem transferring rego either, they just take the details from uk licence and link it to their system in some way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  4. No harm in asking. Or maybe just keep in touch so that you can ask at a later date? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

  6. In Victoria, Vehicle needs roadworthy certificate to transfer registration to a new owner. Reputable dealers will supply this with the vehicle you buy. Many private sales will also include this, some private sales at the lower end of the scale may not have this included because the seller either wants to sell the car with an attractive low price or because he knows the car will fail rwc anyway, therefore the risk becomes the buyers. Roadworthy is not annual requirement like the Mot is. Buy the car with rwc once. It's then up to you to keep the vehicle in roadworthy condition. Registration for a year, $650 approx in Vic. Insurance, third party property, add on approx $200-300 for an old small car in a decent postcode. Much higher for a modern luxury car. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  7. It's taxable income. So it needs to be reported on his tax return. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free Sorry, my bad! I didn't read the question properly.
  8. Not aware of any such organisation. Ebay, gumtree, newsagent window and other classified ads you can find. You don't have much time left. Price it to sell quickly or you'll be leaving it out for hard rubbish collection or giving it to charity. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  9. 100% this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  10. We are in Watsonia. Lovin' it! :-) By car, 5 or 10 mins to RMIT Bundoora depending on traffic. Wouldn't take much longer to cycle. i'd avoid the tram on Plenty Road, takes forever to get to the city and you'll soon tire of it when the weather heats up. It's not a pleasant journey. Watsonia is 40-45 mind to the city by train. Bundoora, Watsonia, Greensborough, Macleod, Epping..... All have great facilities nearby. Enjoy hunting! :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  11. Also check out the PTV site for details of train stations, tram and bus stops etc. i guess that will also be pretty important for you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

  16. Ads which do specify conditions for job applications usually only mention an "entitlement to work in Australia". A 457 is such an entitlement. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  17. If she applies for jobs, and ahe's the rightperson for the job, she'll get it. The visa will likely not even be discussed. That's my wife's experience. She's just started her 2nd job and we're almost at the end of our 3rd year on 457's. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  18. Do you have to tell them your visa status? Aren't they just interested in getting premises let for a period of time? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  19. A pointless survey with little meaning to it IMO. Perfect scores for healthcare, infrastructure and education? So WTF does that actually mean? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  20. Almost about to start 4th year on a 457; putting the wheels into motion for PR now. Logical step for us. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

  22. PAL format in Aus, same as UK. No worries regarding compatibility. We use both UK games and games bought in Australia on our Wii. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  23. If the price is right, then i'm happy to take a few days off work to organise the RWC. I just don't have the time normally. Also happy to sell it without the rego and number plate at a lower price if that suits anyone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  24. If you've got the money to spend, then why not? You may have difficulty getting a rental for only a few months though; landlords would probably prefer to let to longer term occupiers. Share-houses would be cheaper, hostels cheaper still. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  25. I remember it all vividly; it was during the time of that Icelandic volcano eruption. The family were here on our recce trip to find schools, accommodation etc. they came for 2 weeks and ended up having to stay for almost 5 weeks due to flight cancellations. That was an expensive hotel stay! :-) They came and went eventually, and shortly afterwards my 90 days were up, so not for the first time i had to fly to NZ and back to start another 90 day period on my business visa. All that time, our 457's were being processed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
