  1. Hi everyone, I am over the moon today. An invitation to apply for NSW state sponsorship was sitting in my inbox this morning whoop whoop!!! I have taken a quick look over the application form to clarify what documents I need to upload. It states employer references are optional unless you are claiming points for skilled employment, which I am! My problem is my boss is not very approachable and I do not want anyone at work knowing we are thinking of emigrating as I know it would cause me no end of bother, the MD is not a very nice man and does not like to see anyone succeed in anything. If I didn't love my job so much I would be long gone. My question is has anyone applied for NSW nomination without supplying an employers reference (I have worked at the same company for 12 years so all my skilled employment is with this company although I am not claiming for the whole 12 years) I have all the usual employment evidence - P60's, wage slips, contract of employment, job description and I also have 2 reference letters from managers at my work who have left the company. Am I able to do a stat dec instead? Or is a reference a must? Any info from anyone who has applied to NSW would be greatly appreciated Cheers Claire
  2. Hi thanks for commenting. What do you take from the content of the skills assessment? Does this not indicate 3 years work experience at appropriate skill level?
  3. I've worked in my occupation for the last 12 years so I was wondering how many points I can claim. Am I able to claim full points for 8 years? The reason I ask is until we started thinking about emigrating I did not have the qualification I needed for my occupation (AQF Diploma). Once we decided it was what we wanted to do I obtained a Diploma in the relevant area through RPL. I got this in 2013. I proceeded to obtain my skills assessment from Vetassess. The following is noted on my skills assessment: Based on the evidence provided, more than 3 years of employment is assessed as highly relevant to the nominated occupation and completed at an appropriate skill level in the 5 years before the date of applying for this skills assessment. The employment described above meets the minimum requirements for this occupation. As the majority of the employment is pre qualification am I able to claim points for it? If so how many years? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Just want to get it right. Thanks
  4. Thanks Supercow, that's such a relief!!!!!! I'm over the moon with that. So I get 20 points for superior English??
  5. I took the PTE Academic yesterday, received my results this morning. Was not expecting to do very well as I felt awful yesterday, migrane and chest infection. This may be an odd question but on my score sheet it shows my overall score as 86. It then lists the following: L - 85, R - 90, S - 89, W - 84 There is then a load of other scores underneath (Enabling scores) are these relevant as some of them don't look very good? Or are the scores I have noted above what I have actually scored in each item? I know I sound a bit dim here but just want to make sure I am reading the results correctly. Thanks
  6. My husbands access report came back in 21 days. On the 20th day of waiting they emailed asking for his address further back than the last 10 years they originally requested. We responded straight away and they emailed the report the next day. 21 days in total
  7. My husband access report came back showing a caution when he was 16....over 20 years ago. Best bet is to declare everything, we applied for the access report as he couldn't remember details just so we could be truthful on the application.
  8. You're welcome. It's worth a try?! I would just email all the vets in the NT and see what they say. You never your luck. Good luck
  9. Good luck, hope you get the scores you need. I'm looking at doing the PTE, how did you find it? I'm a native English speaker, do you think I will have any issues with the test? Did you do much practice?
  10. I would also say yes. I was married in the Dominican republic so my marriage certificate is in Spanish and I had to have that translated.
  11. They basically want you to prove that you want to settle in NT rather than using it as a stopgap until you can move to another state. You need to write a commitment to NT statement (no more than 2 pages) why you have chosen NT over anywhere else in Australia, what you think the NT has to offer, what you can offer to the NT. Research you have undertaken in regards to employment, housing, schools, medical facilities. Note down the research you have done into the cost of living, how much to buy/rent, cost of bills. Why you would fit in. You really need to sell yourself and prove that you want to live there. Also mention the weather stating you are fully aware and prepared for the NT weather. You should give details of any contacts you have in the NT as they like you to have ties to the state be that personal of professional, better still a job offer. In regards to employability you need to look on Seek and screenshot all the jobs in the NT that you could apply for in your occupation (just to show there are jobs there for you) I emailed employers (I looked in the OZ yellow pages and emailed any companies in my field). Be honest with the employers you are emailing, send a copy of your CV and current job description and ask them for feedback on the likely-hood of you being able to secure a job on arrival. Include all emails with employers with your application to the NT. I was granted NT state sponsorship, but unfortunately we had to put our plans on hold so we are still in the UK at the moment. I actually secured a job by emailing employers for my evidence so you never know you may fall lucky too. You also have to prove financial assets if you do not have a job to go to so I would also start preparing evidence of that. House valuation, bank statements etc. Hope the above helps

    How many dogs?

Hi thanks for your input. What / where is classed as rural? We are quite happy to live off the beaten track and don't mind commuting for work (Were used to it) Our dogs are our family (We don't have children) and so ideally we want to bring them with us. The cost to bring them is astronomical but I couldn't leave them behind.

    How many dogs?

Hi, we are looking at moving to SA on a 190. Bringing our 3 dogs with us has always been part of the plan. I have been researching the rules and regs of owning dogs in SA, I know they must be registered with the council and an annual fee paid etc. However it seems that most councils advise only 2 dogs can be kept at a property, an application can be made for a 3rd dog. Am I understanding this correctly? If this is the case how would I go about bringing my 3 dogs, do I need to contact the council prior to the dogs arrival. Obviously I need this in place before they arrive, I don't want to bring 3 dogs to Australia to be told well actually you can only keep 2 of them. Any info/advice would be much appreciated Thanks

    Police checks

Thanks for your input, was it the Subject access report you had done? Did it outline everything on record (dates, offence etc) Im hoping the assault & burglary doesn't cause an issue especially as he was not convicted. Heres hoping. Ill apply for the subject access tonight.

    Police checks

Hi, my husband in his youth had numerous cautions for silly kid things (never charged and below the age of 18) also he was arrested at the age of 22 (hes 36 now) and appeared in court for aggravated assault and burglary (he was found not guilty and the case was thrown out of court) Never been in trouble since then The problem is he cant remember when these cautions were or what exactly they were for, now honesty is the best policy and we want to declare everything. Should I apply for subject access report prior to filing in the visa application so we can be sure of covering everything? I just want to make sure we do everything right! Also do you think the aggravated assault & burglary will cause a problem even though he was found not guilty?
  19. SA have introduced the supplimentry skills list which has all occupations on the CSOL. So yes 511111 is on there however there are certain restrictions. You must have either a batchelors degree or higher, studies for 12 months in SA or have immediate family residing in SA. If you look on the SA website all the details are there.
  20. Im not in Manchester but I took all my paperwork to the local county court and had a justice of the peace to do it for me. I emailed the court prior to check this was something they would do and who I needed to ask for (He happened to be a local majastrate). The best thing about it was it was free. I had about 20 things for him to certify and he was happy to do this. Apparently he told me they were not allowed to charge for the service. Its worth your friend dropping the local county court an email.
  21. If you're occupation is on schedule 2 then you need a 12 month offer of employment for both the 190 and 489. I did the RPL in business management (big section of this covers project management) which is a AQF Diploma (equivalent to HDC/HNC in the UK) through a company in Tasmania. They were excellent, helped you every step of the way. A great way to get the qualification you need if like me you only have UK NVQ 3? They are called Academy3. Its worth looking on their website. I had no problem passing my vetassess with this qualification Best of luck
  22. Hi, I applied to the NT for sponsorship with a job offer. My employer did me a letter of offer on their headed paper which was perfectly acceptable to the NT Government. Good luck
