  1. They took 2 weeks with mine. Submitted in December, invited the beginning of January. NSW will sponsor occupations not on their list to high scoring candidates. What is your score?
  2. We are bringing our 2 dogs with us but have only got quotations from Golden Arrow and pet air at the moment. One word of warning though at present there is only Air Canada?? who ship snub nose breeds, the other airlines refuse to fly then. Therefore it is likely to cost more. We have an American bulldog, I sent photos of her to pet air who forwarded them onto Quantas who then said they would fly her as her snout is quite long. Do you have a british bulldog? If so I expect you will encounter the same problem.
  3. Yes, I believe if you are claiming partner skills you need to show evidence of this.
  4. Hi, I didn't ever sit the IELTS, I sat the PTE Academic but obviously cannot compare the 2. I had seen so many people on here fall short on the IELTS I thought I would give PTE a go. I'm glad I did I scored superior with 20 points. I would say if you have a decent grasp of the English language you shouldn't have much problem with the PTE. I downloaded practice material on line which is a good idea, just so you know what to expect and the format of the test so you are not caught unawares on the day. Its all computer based too which appealed to me. Its cheaper than IELTS too I believe. If you put in plenty of practice 9I did a couple of weeks practice on an evening0 you should breeze it. Good luck
  5. You get points for age, qualification, work experience in and out of Australia, English language ability, partner skills, professional year in Australia, State sponsorship. Just google Australian points test and work out how many points he has from that. For a 190 visa you need 60 points, however as advised at present there are no states sponsoring his occupation so you could go the SA or NSW sponsorship route but will need higher points (85 for SA and I was accepted for NSW with 70 points) Also check on the Vetassess website to see if he could pass the skills assessment for his occupation. If you are just starting out there is a lot of information to get your head around, take your time reading everything. You will get there in the end. My occupation is not on any state list and it has taken me 3 years to find a way around it, but we are nearly there now. It can be a long slog Good luck
  6. Ive just had a look on the CSOL and footballer is on there. Skills assessment through Vetasses. Ive checked on Anszco search and currently there are no states sponsoring this profession. However South Australia will sponsor occupations off the Csol which are not currently on their list if you can score 85 points on the points test. How many points would he have? Another option is NSW they will also sponsor occupations not on their list if you score high points. I went down this route and have just had my invitation to apply for my 190 (I had 70 points) Good luck
  7. I did the PTE-Academic rather than IELTS. It was pretty straight forward and I scored top marks. I cannot comment on IELTS as I never sat it. All I would say is do some of the practice tests on line to familiarise yourself with the test format, being of British origin you should breeze it. Good luck
  8. Hi all, We have received an invitation to apply for a 190 visa NSW. Super excited!! I have a couple of questions.... Once I hit apply do I need to fill in the whole application and submit in one sitting? Or can I fill part of it in, save it and resume it later? It wont just shut me out if I don't complete all in one go will it? The second question is I know on the application form it asks for partners work history, do I need to upload evidence of this when I upload my own evidence for work history? I have all my own wage slips, p60s etc but never thought about sorting my husbands out (We are NOT claiming points for partners skills) Also I know I may not be asked for Form 80 but I was going to get it filled in, in case I am asked for it down the line, is it just me as the main applicant that has to fill this in or do I need to fill one in for my husband also? Your advise is appreciated. Thanks
  9. Congratulations that's great news. Were not quite there yet but not long hopefully!
  10. What filing names rules? I will be ready to upload documents shortly? Thanks
  11. No worries, I know....it is a minefield. There is so much reading up to do. I did have a quick look on TRA and its not the best website. It took me a while to figure everything out but you will get there in the end. There's quite a few agents on the forum (George Lambard is very helpful) maybe get a little advice off them? Best of luck
  12. That is not strictly true, I thought that too, however a friend of mine moved to Sydney on an employer sponsor and the job she went to do was not on either list either. The sponsor just has to prove there is no Australian available to take up the role. It is just fancy paperwork but if the employer wants you they can make it happen. Good luck
  13. I don't really know the answer to your question, however TRA are the assessing authority for this occupation. I should think you will be able to find the info you need on their website. All my work experience was prior to qualification but my skills were assessed by Vetassess. Vetassess advised on their website for my occupation if experience was prior to qualification 3 years experience and 1 year highly relevant experience was necessary to pass the assessment (Training period if you like) Therefore I had 12 years experience but for points purposes 4 years of this was classed as training so I can only class 8 years as skilled employment for points. Hope this helps in some way.
  14. What is your partners occupation? Could they not be the main applicant?
  15. I feel for you I know how frustrating it can be. Have you thought about employer sponsorship? I know its no easy task getting someone to employ you from the other side of the world but perhaps worth a shot?? A friend of mine went over to Sydney on an employer sponsorship. The job she got was not on either list either but as far as I know if the employer can prove they can not find anyone in Australia to do the job they are able to employ oversees applicants. Maybe something you can look into. Also wait until July and the lists come out make sure you check, you never know your luck. Is there no other occupation your duties cover? Dental technician?? Good luck
  16. I think they advised up to 12 weeks processing when I applied but was a whole 17 weeks until I got my outcome. No particular reason I just think Vetassess drag their heels and have no urgency about them. The English test boosts the points (I had 60 prior to taking the test) if you get full marks it boosts your points by 20.
  17. Were going solo too, it is a little overwhelming to begin with but if you are good at paperwork and reading things through thoroughly it is pretty straight forward. Ive done more reading than I thought possible. Emigrating is a costly experience in itself that's why we are going it alone. My Vetassess took 17 weeks to come back.....it seemed like forever!!! I got my positive result the day after WA took the occupation off the list!!!! At that point we thought that was it.... I kept looking on the states websites to see if there was another way. I was offered a job in NT which we thought great but once we looked into the NT we realised the weather would be too extreme for us and the cost of living was astronomical. No matter how much we wanted to be in Australia we had to pass this up. So we were back to square one again. Then SA introduced the high points category, so again we thought great if I sit the English exam we can get the 80 points. All booked in for the exam and then SA changed this to 85 (There was no way we could get 85points) so that was out of the window. Then by chance I was browsing the NSW website and noticed they had added a new stream (Never in a million years did I think we would get into NSW) for high scoring candidates with an occupation on the CSOL. I guess we saw this as our last chance and put in a EOI never thinking we would hear anything back, then a few weeks ago we received an invitation to apply, which we did and now again its a waiting game. I guess what I am saying is if there's a will there's a way. Hope everything is more smooth sailing for you.
  18. On another note, have you checked which states are sponsoring your occupation since you will be going down the 190 route? The only reason I ask is when I started this whole process 3 states were sponsoring my occupation and by the time I got my Vetassess results all those states had removed my occupation from their lists. I waited nearly 2 years and was constantly checking lists etc before I got a breakthrough and an invitation from NSW. Not to worry you but just something to think about and keep in mind. The goalposts are forever moving. Are you using an agent or doing the process yourself?
  19. Hi, yes I used the official wording (Found it on here if my memory serves).I had all my documents certified by a Justice of the Peace at the local county court (For free too so that was a bonus). I think it has changed since I applied, I had to send all my documents snail mail to Australia but I think you just upload everything now and im not sure you need to have these certified now (Don't quote me though please check on the Vetassess website)
  20. Hi, I was in the same situation. Rather than sending a reference letter to Vetassess I did a statutory declaration, I stated the reasons for this....Would jepodise my job / career prospects with the company. Vetassess were happy with this, no one contacted my employer and I get a positive outcome. Good luck!
  21. As soon as possible!!!! Realistically though maybe 18month.We have the house to sell and 2 dogs to sort out with tests and the such. Reluctant to do anything too drastic like sell the house until I know we have visa in hand. How about you??
  22. I did think about this, if I did this my duties would not be listed though and I think that is what they are after, or do you think they just want to confirm I actually work there. If it was just proof of employment surely wage slips and p60's would suffice?
  23. Us too, we have been plodding along with this for about 3 year now, I was offered a job in the Northern Territory but we decided we wouldn't be able to live there, the humidity would kill both of us lol Like you if push comes to shove I will have to bite the bullet but I know what he is like and I can see things getting difficult for me. I think I will upload loads of evidence and see how I go. Best of luck to you when you apply
  24. :laugh:No unfortunately not!
  25. Me too, I was gobsmacked when I saw the email!! Congratulations to you too!! Its only the beginning but its a great feeling isn't it? Skills assessment I did a statutory declaration for the very same reason. If I don't attach one with the state sponsorship application i'm worried it may get rejected
