  1. Hi, we're a family of 4 (oh and I just hit 40) with teenage girl 13 and 10 year old boy living here two years and need to make some new friends especially for our homesick girlie! Sundays are really only free days due to excessive school commitments, but would be great to meet like minded ex pats for social get togethers. Did I mention I'm actually Australian but spent 20 + years in London and Berkshire. Don't let that put you off!
  2. Big congrats to you, the wait is finally over and now your new life can begin:spinny:
  3. Fantastic news Tink85. It's all worth it and life can get back to some sort of normality.
  4. Many congratulations. I think the next step is heading out there within the time frames stated to validate the visa. Here's to hoping it's everything we want it to be.:jiggy:
  5. How have you not called before now? I drove my other half mad persuading him to call. Do it so you at least know where you stand.
  6. Woop woop!!!!! Our visa has been granted! Subclass 100. 4 months and one week. Thank you all so so much for your support and words of wisdom. If it's been over 4 months then call your CO and get an update! We fly 2 weeks tomorrow. Last thing to do is for the dollar to weaken by 1 cent so that we can buy our house before Thursday. Good luck to everyone still waiting xxxxx :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:
  7. Tillyloola, did you ask them about extra luggage allowance? We explained we were migrating to Australia and they gave us an extra 15kg for hubbie who will be travelling on the visa (once issued!) and an extra 5 kg for all travelling with him. They also increased our hand luggage by 2 kg each. Worth calling customer service to ask. We're not coping with the stress either and are travelling Singapore after you, so have much more time for dumping each other:biggrin:
  8. Waaaaa not fair. We sent ours before you! Seriously though, am very pleased for you and hope everything turns out for you. All the best for your new life.
  9. Many congratulations amanda74. We applied same day as you so hopefully once our CO is back off leave we can get ours too! Hope your life is all you want it to be.
  10. Congratulations! Enjoy the bubbly - am beginning to think I should have taken shares in bubbly instead of trying to buy Aussie dollars!
  11. Huge congratulations Mrspotatohead! Am so pleased for you. Guess hitting that refresh button actually works.:biglaugh: Enjoy the bubbles x
  12. Thanks Mrs Potatohead, We didn't follow the guidance for booking flights, etcetera because we knew April is the best time to sell the house and the earlier you book flights, the cheaper the fares, combine this with the stamp duty hike on the 1st August in Oz, we were keen to get everything moving as money was going to be very tight. With the dollar continuing to strengthen, it's all very well AH saying hold off, but in our case for every cent the dollar gains, we lose a months worth of living costs. When we applied, we were being told that issuing times were 3-4 months so it should have been granted by now. It was only in May they changed it to 5-6 months. Still, so long as everything else works out and we can get a semi decent money rate, it will all be worth it in the end....won't it? :arghh:
  13. Hi Paintpotty, There is only one AB at AH so we've got the same CO. As we fly out in less than three weeks we were getting a little edgy as we were seeing people with similar times to ours be issued so emailed asking for a quick update. Got an out of office reply. Back 1st August and a name to contact in his absence. Called that person who said wouldn't issue visa but no reason why it shouldn't be issued when AB gets back. Only issue is that we know they follow the rules and as such think we might be 2 weeks behind others now as there are people in the queue ahead of us We're really hoping it's by the end of next week so my OH can start looking for work. At least no reason to check the emails for a while. Good luck with yours.
  14. Congrats and good luck Gunshow. Great idea re the certification and wish I'd knowon earlier as hubby is in Canary Wharf and you could have made it easier for us. A little green re how quick you got yours through, although do understand the circumstances. My step mother has a brain tumour and my father not in the best of health either but were told it wouldn't have any bearing. Where in Brisvegas are you heading?
  15. Thanks Tracy and many congratulations to you and yours. Hope life Down Under is all you want it to be. Think our visa may be delayed as CO on holiday. Am urging other half to call and see who is dealing with it while he's away. None the less, congrats and good luck x
  16. Many congratulations Nickster! Hope everything works out for you just as you hope it too. We're moving to bayside of Brisbane so won't be too far away and hope to arrive 18th August. All the best
  17. When we booked the flights the visas were being issued within three months. Now it's completely different. If we haven't heard by end of July we're going to give them a call in the hope that we'll be first on the list in August. We're buying a house in the Bayside suburbs of Brisbane. Keeping everything crossed.
  18. Hmmm we must be getting to the end of the month as the approvals are slowing down and the issuing time going from 4 months to closer to 5. Not helped by the start of the holiday season either...
  19. I think I'd be phoning Oz house and seeing who is dealing with it while they're away as others who applied after you have had them granted or are being granted! Good luck
  20. Whoop de whoop and huge congratulations too! We've also got AB and are about 10 days behind your time frame. Very exciting times. Good luck with all you do. Elizabeth
