  2. Hi June We have just gone on 'The List' but will be heading to the same area. My daughter lives on the Gold Coast in Varsity Lakes. Robina is their closest shopping centre:cute: Not entirely sure exactly where we will be eventually go but it won't be far away from them. We're doing a 2 month rekke next year. We had planned to go in August/September for our 30th wedding anniversary and my daughters birthday but our third grand child (which was a surprise) is due in April so scuppered our plans but in a nice way, so we are now going in April/May  Phoebe
  3. Hi Linda If it's given you a psycological boost that's good enough for me. We just need to wait for the next one's to go on the list then we move up :swoon: Crazy or just jealousy............that is the question  Phoebe
  4. Thanks Linda It's already done consider yourself elevated  Good luck with it all. Phoebe
  5. IT'S ARRIVED....... our letter from the Australian Government confirming our acknowledgement date as 3rd September 2010. It also states that they are currently processing applications from May 2009 so ATM it is looking like February/March before (hopefully) visa is granted. First step done...........now where's Steven......... lol
  6. Mmm it is a bit of a roller coaster but appreciate the link. Phoebe
  7. Yes it is difficult I will still have my son in the UK. We are not 100% ourselves but we decided to set the ball rolling by putting the application in (given the time it takes:arghh:) we too are going out there for a couple of months next year, we have decided to get a short term rental so we can do a good rekki as well as seeing the family. If we decide that after all it isnt for us all we have lost is the first VAC :swoon: Phoebe
  8. Congratulations to you too  My girls are coming here in November for my sons wedding so we dont have to do the journey this year. We were planning our trip for September/October next year but those plans are scuppered now, I'm going to have to bring them forward :jiggy: Why can't you 'do it yet' Phoebe
  9. That'll be me then :jiggy:only just sent the first VAC :err: Phoebe
  10. Hi Gill Its thanks to you, the help from Yomvard and people on here that gave me the courage to 'do it myself' Thanks for the info, I just have to encourage my OH to start de cluttering, he should have been a scrapman :arghh: Phoebe
  11. Oh.....that is a rare creature indeed but I'll watch out for it :jiggy: Do you know how/where I get on 'the List' . And thanks for your support  Phoebe
  12. Parcel delivered and signed for in Perth at 12.3pm on 23rd August......very impressed :jiggy: So what is the next step:arghh: Phoebe
  13. The courier has just collected the paperwork, will let you know when they arrive in Perth Phoebe
  14. Hi Sandy This appears to be the contact form to email them :jiggy: Health Operations Centre Feedback Form Phoebe
  15. I've got it in to tape as we speak my daughter used them without any hassle at all so I'm definatly watching  Phoebe
  16. I paid monies straight into the companys bank account so in this case could it not be paid into the Centrelink account Rich had to open for the AoS then sent from there :wideeyed: I do know in Australia everyone inclucing people who are employed have to complete their own Tax Return. My daughter & SIL have just done theirs, they were doing it themselves until someone told them to go to a professional, they did that this time and were able to claim more so the $200 it cost them was well worth it, so I would assume your Rich does the same thing, why not ask him to have a word with his Tax guy (or girl). To me a Tax Return is for your earnings so shouldnt interfere with Rich's income. I will ask my daughter to have a word with their Tax guy as well and let you know  Phoebe
  17. I didn't know that :swoon:...never been good with currency  but if people are worried it may affect their sponsors income for tax it's always an option I suppose. I do know that after charging you the 'fee' they then charge you £1 for an overseas transaction as well :arghh: we can't win............. Phoebe
  18. Hi Quick update, I have finally got all the forms, certificates etc together for CPV143, found a great courier online to do 'The Deed' at £19.20 door to door. It's a company I have used in the past and didn't realise they did international deliveries as well !! Collection is arranged for Friday 20th August, just one question, once they receive the application and first installment, do they acknowledge it or do we have to rely on looking at the bank statements? Phoebe
  19. Hi Sandy Could you not simply go to your bank here and transfer it to Australia. I have done business overseas in the past, I complete a form at my bank, they charge me (of course around £20) and pay the money into the overseas company account within about 4 days? Phoebe
  20. Hi does anyone know if Visas for NZ are the same as for Australia or is there dedicated forum for NZ? I'm asking on behalf of a friend. Thanks Phoebe
  21. That's maybe where my daughter was getting mixed up re the $10,000, still it's sorted now just needed to tick the right boxes on form 47PA  In my experience customs all over the world are much the same including the UK  Phoebe
  22. I got through the 'gravy granules thing by sending a 1kg pack to my daughter as a Xmas presant, it got through ok. My s-i-l loves Pork Scratchings (we make them) so I took him 6 packets first time we went. I put them in the lid of my case and declared them, they were confiscated as they were 'animal orientated' even though they were cooked. My s-i-l was gutted. It was his 40th birthday earlier this year so I sent him a full box of 18 packets, declared cooked snacks on the customs label and they got through. He said the box had been opened (obviously for inspection) as they have to put a sticker on to say it had been opened by them then they sent it on, so who's right :arghh: Phoebe
  23. Hi Gill I couldnt agree more. I intend to put in a figure (like you did) to satisfy them. The reason I asked the question was my daughter (in Oz) thought is meant what you would actually take 'on your person' through customs, this is another bureaucratic thing, it seems you are only 'allowed' $10,000 as far as she knows, more than that apparantly 'interfere's' with the Australian economy :swoon: so I wanted to check I was putting the 'correct' figure in  Phoebe
