  1. A bit premature but thanks - for 2 steps read about 2 MONTHS, (on the tracker till we get our CO) but hey, its still coming a lot quicker than we thought. I can remember moaning "gosh, 2 years! that'll take ages to come round" ......... seems like only yesterday!
  2. What an exciting time - 4 visas and a CO! At this rate we won't be far behind:twitcy: we're just 2 steps behind the action now on the tracker!!!!!
  3. We were in Adelaide in January and February - no problems with our holiday visa either. Hopefully our next trip will be the one-way one. Waiting time for CO seems a couple of months earlier now too ......... so maybe by this time next year Have a great time Phoebe. Know what you mean Val - those hugs are precious and although Skype is a godsend it doesn't take away all the pain. What is your timescale - I see you are a couple of months behind us on the tracker? These forums do help pass the waiting time don't they?
  4. Buying like for like does highlight some of the price differences but I am used to shopping around for cheaper alternatives and don't mind trying out new or low priced products - some even turn out to be better than the ones I'm used too
  5. Congratulations - fantastic news, hope the house sells quickly. (we're just over a year behind you)
  6. Haven't been on for a while and delighted to see a little bit of movement - we're about 6 weeks ahead of you!
  7. I've lost 3 1/2 stone with Slimming World over the last 2 years and now size 16/18 (was 22). Been on a 'plateau' for 6 months but haven't put any back on. Would like to lose another 2 stone before we go if possible. Thinking of joining again in the next couple of months. I had an op recently (nothing life threatening) and can't exercise or drive for another month but hope to get back on track soon.
  8. We shall probably use Maidenhead when our time comes as its a fairly easy drive there for us and a nice day out. Big bonus .... seems to be one of the cheaper ones too!
  9. "Parent visa holders do seem to sort themselves out once they get to Australia. Their standards of living might drop - and I suspect that they often do so - but I also suspect that having one's children and grandchildren nearby makes up for a drop in the trappings." Hope they don't frop too far - we've been pensioners for a while now having retired at 50 and have already dropped loads of 'trappings' We rarely eat out, our only holiday is the annual trip to Oz and the next step could be getting rid of the second car (my lifeline)
  10. ....and we'll be 9th from the bottom instead of 8th!:biglaugh:
  11. Timing sounds about right. We were oroginally told 20 - 24 months for whole process and about 15 - 18 months from confirmation of 1st payment to getting CO. Have a look at the timescale on www.gainwave.co.uk on the Britishexpats site to see how things are moving Still decluttering the house and 2nd trip up into the loft tomorrow to look forward to.
  12. Time of year might make a difference to the timing - we waited 27 days for ours! :arghh:but at least £10 isn't too bad:unsure:
  13. This is the timescales we were given: Month 1 - preliminary enquiries, form filling etc. Month 2 - DIAC application reviewed and lodged by our agent (acknowledged 1 month to 6 weeks later) Month 20 - CO - health and character checks requested Month 22 - Assurance of Support Bond requested Month 23 - DIAC final Visa charge requested Month 24 - Visa granted
  14. Thanks for the link - unfortuneately I get ERROR Access Denied Access Denied by security policy The security policy for your network prevents your request from being allowed at this time. Please contact your administrator if you feel this is incorrect.
  15. with an agent (form 80 and all the certified copies have gone too) so where are the other 15800?
  16. "We have got our queue date i.e. 3rd May 2010 looked on queue list 15,800 ahead of us !!!!" Where can I find this list - do you have a link?
  17. I tend to use CPV (still sparkling) as I discovered it first + Poms in Adelaide as that is where we want to settle. But there is more info on here now so I've bookmarked all three! The tracker is great as it helps pass the time and its good to celebrate with people you get to know on here as they get their 'red stars' Thanks so much to steve for organising it.
  18. SNAP (63 & 64) We were told about 20-24 months in all. We began the journey end of March - confirmed 3rd May, so we're a bit behind you. Idea of timescale on here http://gainwave.co.uk/Page2.htm
  19. We're on that journey too! I'm not too good with roller coasters either
