In the unlikely event we sell our house for more than we expected we may be able to go Business Class but I'd rather put the money towards a new car/things for our new home. Its only for 24 hours after all and after all the ups and downs so far we can put up with a bit of discomfort! At least we just got confirmation from our agent -WE NOW HAVE OUR VISAS!!!!!!!!:chatterbox:

Have one for me - I'm having a bad day! We may be days away from getting our Visas but have the long wait to sell our house now and its tipping it down and freezing. Have a great journey and all the best in your new life Down Under. Hope it won't be too long till we're in your position. Never ever travelled in anything other than cattle class - I rather envy you. They seem to see us coming and , even when we've tried to reserve 'good' seats we always seem unlucky getting hemmed in by a sleeper or disturbed by a jitter bug or screaming child! Enough of my moaning - I'll be thinking of you on Tuesday when you join your family and the real adventure begins. Hope the ash clouds don't affect your flight

Phew - I thought that's what it should have been. Lucky to get anything decent for $1000 a month

Our receipts for the second VAC (paid in London) are on their way to Oz and should be there soon - then we shall have our Visa:chatterbox: Yet another Bank Holiday to slow things down (Queen's Birthday) but we are sooooo nearly there. The expected 2 year wait looks like it will be just over 13 months for us so hang in there all of you waiting patiently - it may come round quicker than you think! Another viewing on the house this morning so got the coffee pot on and some freshly cooked biscuits on a plate.

Durham Lad should be on the next page now as he has his Visa too.

I had the same trouble - try sending Steve a message! I'm sure he'll update you quickly, he did ours.

Never used one even when it was -5 before Christmas - occasionally resort to a hot water bottle if my feet are freezing. Don't think my 'thermostat' works as I rarely feel the cold or am bothered by the heat! (and we are old and grey)

Good luck the money disappeared from our bank account today so the Visa shouldn't be long now - just the wretched house to sell!

When are you off?

I tend to stay awake for at least 36 hours and walk up and down and do stretching excercises at the back of the plane whenever possible. Clive had a DVT a few years ago so I'm a bit paranoid about sitting in one place for long periods - usually too excited to sleep anyway!

Not another one - I've paid my money and I'm going to get every penny's worth - meals, snacks, drinks, films........... The food on SIA on all our trips has actually been worth staying awake for.

...but with more chocolate and a slight 'crunchie' (honeycomb) flavour, Best way to eat them is to bite off diagonally opposite corners and suck your tea or coffee through them (so I'm told) Haven't tried it yet but seen it done!

If it does, and you get your request before July 1st you might save a few $s by paying in London. Good luck anyway

Glad you got the medical thing sorted. Once the results get to Sydney (after about 10 days) the 2nd VAC comes very quickly! Good luck with your house sale too - you're not too far behind!

Noticed that - may give it a couple of days to see what happens (we were planning on paying via London until the sudden rise) Another Bank holiday soon so may wait till after that!

Congratulations on getting this far so quickly - things really hotting up aren't they? Hope you get your appointment soon. Our med appointment took a while as they seem to do most of them on Mondays and Fridays at Maidenhead and the panel doctors aren't there every day. It was 6 weeks from the date of getting our CO till medicals - mind you, there was Easter and all the Bank Holidays to slow things down. CO 1st April, meds done 6th May, results sent off 15th May (still in transit but tracking progress daily)! House is just going on the market so hopefully the timings will work out Ok and we'll be on our way by the early Autumn - certainly well before Christmas.

CONGRATULATIONS (sorry I'm a bit late but no computer till Friday so I've sneeked on at work) Our meds went off to Sydney finally on Monday afternoon so we're another step closer House goes on the market next week.

Clive certainly wants a 40+ screen to watch all that lovely sport - I've got better things to do! (but I don't mind the cricket, not too worried about following the 'Crows' and we'll hopefully be settled in well before the Olympics which I plan to watch) I won't miss the UK soaps and many 'good' (IMO) series I enjoy are repeated .... eventually.

The man from PSS has just left and we're well impressed. He noticed a picture of my daughter and her husband and remembered packing them up 6 years ago when they moved to Adelaide! He is now an estimator and was really helpful and efficient. Think we might go with them if their quote is similar to the others.

Don't mind a few things about the old country but I'm looking forward to a new adventure and plan to embrace the Aussie way of life if at all possible. If that means less TV that's fine by me. I watch far too much here in the UK especially when its cold and grey outside (much of the time - except for the last month)

Depends where you live (and price varies) http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts/overseas/u/united-kingdom/panel-doctors.htm We went to Maidenhead and they were brilliant - one of the less expensive ones too.
