Well i have grown old in Australia i'm now 78 young.The older you get the worse it gets.It's one foot in the grave.Compared to life in the UK. After you retire,when you are working 12 hours a day like i was.You don't think about getting old.But the years roll by.I went back in 2013 for one year.Now i'm back,in the heat it's getting to both of us now,it's just too hot to go outside and work, in the garden.Back in the Uk ,like you we went out for a meal ,to pubs out in the country at weekends.or visited castles etc, we went down to the Working Mans Club,on a Wednesday and a Saturday night , to have a dance,or see some a Comedian,or singers in the entertainment room.It was great really.The weather was lousy most of the time.But now the sun, day in day out is worse.The humidity is a killer.There's just nothing to do here,And we live on the sunshine coast.The Beach has lost it's Attraction.But then it really depends on the individual some on here think it's paradise.If i had my life over.we would never have left the UK.It may seem strange to some,but you give up far too much up leaving the UK to come here.It's where your roots are.You will never belong here.A Old pom said to me when i arrived here, all them years ago.There's a line.Poms on one side.Aussie on the other side.Most Aussies are good, But there is that devide.They always say.Home is where your heart is.We have 4 grown up kids,Three live in New Zealand. we have one daughter here.You have to Live Your own life,as your kids can just Marry and leave.

Most Movers Still Charge the same if you pack your boxes yourself.Grace are rip off Merchants,we asked for door to door,They charged for delivery.They under quoted when they sited the boxes and furniture at home.Then Nearly Doubled their quote when they got our stuff to their depot.They even said we had to pay a customs charge or they wouldn't deliver.

That's what i say i'll never be, or want to be a Aussie.These people on here that have just received Aussie citizenship and say they feel so different and proud,what sad individuals they must be.I think it's disgusting they are deporting this guy after 50 years.Never trust the Aussie's i say..With Half the Country Being of convict heritage,it really shows as the Aussie's never stop ripping each other off,and dobbing each other in.

There's just been a doco on the TV here in Queensland, About 5 New Zealanders, Being deported from Australia, and have had to leave their families behind. One has been in Australia since he was 2 years old. He was deported because he was convicted of road rage. The other 4 had lived in Australia for over 20years.And had been convicted on drug charges. Nothing I would say that Million's of Aussies haven't done. But it Seems the Aussie's are getting very tough.

My wife and i are in our 70's. I don't think it's about Leaving a well paid job in the UK and taking a chance and moving to the other side of the world.In our opinion,and we have talked at length about it many a time. it's a lot deeper than that. It's about what you leave behind. Forever.My wife has never worked,She took care of our 4 kids,that's was enough.Too many people,think about money and material things as the end of end all.We have struggled when i came out of the army after 12 years they refused to give us a council house,as i had served abroad,and hadn't lived in the UK for 3 consecutive years.They Told Me We didn't qualify.I had to Go into Lodgings, my wife who was pregnant was put in a hostel,and our 3 other kids were put into foster homes.The British Don't look after their veterans I got a job in the South of England that supplied a house after 12 months,And visited my wife and kids every 3rd weekend i had off.We finally got housed.Due to me being a veteran within 6 months.Were were in a New Town ,That decided to sell to sitting tenants,we bought it.And never looked back.The Value quadrupled in 7 years, We sold and went to New Zealand cost 1000 pounds for 6 of us.We bought a new build,Hundreds of new spec houses sitting empty they couldn't sell.For $24,000.I got a job at Shell Oil NZ Driving a road Tanker.Delivering Diesel to the Huge Open Cast Coal Mines they have in NZ.The Best Job ever.Made lost of money.Got made redundant after 13 years,and moved to Australia in 1986.And Bought 3 houses in outskirts of Brisbane lived in one and rented out two.Then Interest rates went up to 17.95% in 1987 And there was no work for the truck i had bought.People were stood on the roadsides and roundabouts,with placards.Please give me a job.With The Money i had in the Bank,we manged to see it through all in tacked.The mining took off and saved the country In 1988 Brisbane EXPO Happened And Houses Trippled so i sold two ,the Politicians seem to waste all the countries wealth in the good times.The Howard Liberals being the worst,They were in for 13 years but did nothing but brag about surpluses.And Never Diversified.What is Australia going to do when the Mining boom ends they were asked all the time.Howard thought the boom would last forever.And they let,schools,hospitals,social services run into the ground.When they tried to introduce Work Choices.Choices. Individual Contracts. And the bosses decide when and what hours you work,and what wage you could earn for 1 year.they were kicked out The GFC happened and labour spent all the surplus keeping people working.Australia is headed for hard times again,this would have to be the worst time,for anyone with a good job good wage,a house etc.To even think about coming to Australia.As i said we are now in our 70's if we could start again we would never have left the UK.We missed Our Families so much,No they have all gone. life long friends are dying.Life is about Family and friends.friends not. Material things, sunshine and a beach etc, are not worth giving them up.A lot of poms, that Want to be Aussies say they couldn't have the life style, what the have in Australia,in the UK. I don't believe that.Life is what you makes it.If people have All their Families over here like many do, that would probably work.But some are going back to the UK and leaving their Mam and Dad here? So who can say what's best? In the end it's your decision.

We Took two dogs back,As you say there is not much difference doing it yourself.We just got a private baggage handler, who's his friend who is a dedicated vet to do it all.The vet even came out to our house an did all the Jabs,picked them up to go to the airport the day before we left.And When we arrived at Heathrow we just went and picked them up. The Baggage Handler i got Recamended Thai Airways, the most direct and Cheapest. It cost us ALL UP $3300 for two mini foxes,Not A hitch. We went From Queensland.I still have the Way bill from Thai Air and the fare for two dog crates was $1000. So really with the Heathrow Charges All in $3300 was cheap. Dogtainers was double that.

I have to Say Most people that are returning to the Uk.Used to say what you are saying, they love Australia.What baffles me your not even here yet?And you love love love Australia.Is that the Country, the way of life or the people?You May get a shock,nobody talks about the crime here,neighbor disputes is at a crisis level,drugs in schools,killings everyday.27% of kids that leave school are unemployable,they can't read or write.50% of Tasmania are i literate.It's far from Paradise what many say on this site.

When I Retired in 2001.I decided to get out of the Rat Race, And Buy A house in the Middle of a paddock. I did in the Middle of 1400 acers with no neighbours. Most of these modern estates, the houses are so close together, you can hear the neighbours at the toilet.The Houses In Australia Look good,but are Paper houses. Brick Veneer.Ovens in the summer and freezing in the winter.So thin you think the birds are sitting on the bottom of the bed.I think All suburbs are the same. Houses Packed close together.And The Noise drives you mad.So the money you pay for a house around the Gold coast. You would be better off buying small Acreage, out a bit,at Bars Scrub, Logan Village,Tamborine,Munruben,Bannockburn,Buccan,But All over Queensland, one of the biggest problems, is Anti social behaviour, and Neighbour hood disputes. You need luck on your side, to find good neighbours, as all the R/e Agents describe everywhere as peace and quiet location.Aussie's love Noise Stereo's have one Setting In Most places FULL BORE! Even on Acreage you get the nuisance of dirt Bikes. The Quality Of Life Is Peace Perfect Peace.We went back to the UK in 2013 The House Had Double Glazing.Unheard of in AUS.We couldn't hear a thing from outside.

We have been here 29 years and have no friends just Acquaintances, all our pommy friends have gone back home.We are heading home as well.We live in Tin Can Bay,Queensland .Our Daughter used to live in Cairns lasted 1 year there. Reading all the Blogs on Here, It seems the other states are more friendly than Queensland, as when I've said anything about the anti pommy attitudes we found in Queensland, other people from different states say they have never had any anti pom attitude. At All. As far as age, Australia is a young country that shouldn't be the problem. I remember applying for a job in Queensland when I was 45,and was told as was over the hill. There's more houses for sale in Noosa than what's occupied. Out of Control Kids roaming the Street causing Mayhem. Heaps living in rental accommodation on the dole. Two most favourites in Australia are the Simpsons and the Bachelor.Then there's Cooking Shows and reality Shows,Then More Reality Shows.Foxtel is a Rip Off. The Uk Shows are 30 years old. The Adds are so long you forget what you have been watching.Then when You Do Get Interested 'The TV goes off NO SIGNAL FOR 10 minutes+And The Aussie's are obsessed with the Weather.That is probably counted as a programme, they have it on all the time, the same news is repeated for days on end.
