1. Find a sponsor on a 457 or an rsms and fly in 3 weeks?
2. Hi there, will depend on the spent convictions etc. As to where you go I would suggest you look at the dozens on whinging posts, `"" we moved to a great area but there is no work"" there is no work in this state for my husbands occupation" etc. Job first, you could wait and get your skills asessed, apply for a permanent visa, wait could be anywhere between 6months and 3 years depending where you want to move to. I am qualified as a tech but took a sponsored 457 with my employer knowing that if it didnt work I had plan b and c with other employers I had approached. Remembering that as long as you dont want to move to the middle of a major city you can probably get a regional visa which gives you PR after a couple of years with an employer. Good luck with it. If you know an experienced service advisor will sponsor in to the Alice on a 457 tommorow!
3. Hi there, I was on a 457 for nearly 2 years before being moved onto a rms, we never claimed the lafha or new much about it, Are you really giving up life in oz for a couple thousand a year?
4. Hi there, we are looking for someone who has all the usual service advisor attributes, thick skin, like people and who can pick up new systems quickly. Would need to be experienced with at least 2-3 years on the front desk who is aware of repair times etc. You can email your CV if you think you fit the bill. Company happy to sponsor on a 457 and help out down the road since we are in an RSMS postcode in Alice springs. You can check out google earth etc for the location, but no, its not flat and red and hot. Its mountains and cool at the moment :biglaugh:. andrewc@peterkittle.com.au

No

Hi there, not just mining is short on people, a lot of remote towns stuggle to get people, the garage I work at closed its dealership in Tennant creek because they could not staff it, jobs advertised in all Eastern states papers and on seek for 4 months and not one application, far better to be unemployed in Sydney than move to where the work is? Wages offered were very good and accomodation part paid for etc. Those whinging about no local jobs need to do ahat we did when we were looking for a sponsor, go where the work is.
6. Good luck, we did our pr on the rsms regional visa, was straight forward and we had an agent check our application, went through within a few weeks. What kind of visa are your employer offering to sponsor you on?
7. I applied for over 200 jobs online before being sponsored in two years ago-).
8. I think you expert advice on this one. But as I understand it you need to stay for 6 months minimum with the empolyer, if you are fired you need to stay in ``À regional area```. Pretty much anywhere apart from Melbourne, Brisbane or Sydney. Would be worth talking either one of the agents here or one near you though.
9. Hi there, first of the 457 if all paperwork and xrays etc done can be granted in 6 days as mine was. There are a number of threads in transport and shipping about bringing a car, I think you,ll be better of buying an old hilux when you arrive and a new one when you can afford it. Cost of cars versus salary is pretty good here, drive into perth and stock up in Ikea for some cheap furniture to get you started. Good luck with the move.
10. Minsite blasting crew? Your idea of the police is not a bad one, two local cops in Alice springs are English ex forces and cme straight from the UK. Good luck on the move. Can be tough to find a sponsor
11. I would recommend a Honda crv or the nissan xtrail, seats go flat, you can fit a lot in ,and you should get a decent one for your budget, and keep it for a year and sell it for nearly the same as you brought it.
12. Yes I believe it is true, would be a good idea to get a visa application started sooner rather than later.

Hi!

Well done making the move, its not for everyone, but at least you don`t need to learn a new language, papers and uk tv etc. Probably one of the easier countries to move to. I had the chance to move to France and work for Renault before coming to Oz, partner had zero French I thought twice about it. Enjoy Perth and try to do some trips when hubby is home, beautifull part of Oz you`re in.
14. Hi Bob, jus finished a really good book by Len Beadlle about the making of the gunbarrell highway and others, did it the hard way .
15.
Hi mate, still heading to the Nt?

16.
Hows the jobhunting going?

17.
Hi there, how have you found Cairns? May have a chance of moving there with a sponsored job in the motortrade, looking for an insiders view on the place. Thanks a lot

18. You lucky guy. Hard going but great times when you get time off. Can you tell me anything about the Cairns area? Fishing on the river and coast etc?
