Keep the pics coming, i cannot wait to see it finished. Putting  a pool in was the first thing we did when bought our house , you certainly won't regret it .

Thanks Cal, I remember years ago watching your “wanted Down Under” catch up episode on the telly.

We saw your lovely big pool and thought how lovely that would be. Finally, we are getting our own 😀

i will keep updating this thread until the job is done. The builders have said that we will be using it before Christmas but some of the landscaping may take till after new year.

    Best Christmas present ever xx

Off topic, but don't let go of British passport, easier to renew than start all over again.

Metoo, love the pool. Will you need fencing?

Thanks @Melbpom, yes we are having frameless glass fencing and a sunbathing area along the sides and the beach end.

The other end will be a gazebo with a BBQ and kitchen area. The whole pool will be surrounded by tropical, jungle like plants.

we are also having an enormous sun brolly to shade the shallow end.

also, we will be keeping our British passports up to date and our driving licences.

I prefer the idea of a concrete pool, not really sure why. Looking good!

Thanks, we asked advice on whether to go concrete or fibreglass and we were told that cos we have sandy soil, the concrete would be better because the fibreglass tends to move and ripple with the water table. One of our neighbours has had to have a 7 yrs old f.glass pool ripped out because of this.

Thanks @JetBlast, today the electrician is coming to sort out the connection for the pool lights and pumps etc.

we will be shopping for pool pump housing today and then sun loungers.

We'll get round to a pool one day... They aren't cheap, I guess you haven't got any access issues! I'll look forward to the updates. 😀

No access issues thank goodness, we have almost 4 acres.

This is what they did yesterday

  6. No, we definitely didn’t want a lap pool. Wouldn’t suit our house or our needs.

None of us are big swimmers, we wanted something that looks beautiful and where we can relax and cool down on hot days.

The pool guys are out there now but I have to go to work now. Will post some mor pics later.

Please keep us posted. I'm quite interested to find out of anything happens.

My relative in Brisbane is having a fence installed. The chaps doing it came across a brown snake in the bushes!

    Hi @JetBlast ,

I don't have any further news about the snakes just yet, but I did find this little fella outside the laundry door when I left for work today.

I didn't know what it was but my Ozzie friend tells me it's a legless lizard. Unfortunately, he was already dead so I couldn't save him.

  8. Sorry PQ just seen this.

no we haven’t found a live snake as yet but we have found 2 more skins.

As it happens, we are having a couple of Whirly birds fitted to our roof this afternoon so I’d better warn the man before he goes up there 😱

i have been told that the snakes will be all waking up now so we will be vigilant

  9. So, we are in the process of moving into our new house.

Mr Metoo was taking a peek inside the roof space and spotted something interesting.

Being brave, he stuck his hand in and came out with a shedded snake skin ?

it looked quite old and was starting to disintegrate so must have been there for a while.

Now I am wondering, where is the rest of it ?

    Is it still alive?

    Has it grown bigger?

Can it get into the house?

Oh boy, living in the countryside sure is entertaining lol

  10. Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

i contacted the Reptile Park as Marisa suggested and they inform me that it is a Badge Huntsman

apparently they can bite humans and can cause local severe pain and swelling, sweating, nausea and vomiting!!!! A cold pack may relieve symptoms and you should seek medical attention if symptoms persist.

holy moly, I wish I'd flattened it now lol

    thats one lucky spider
