If you have half as much fun around your pool as we have, you will never regret building it.

It’s taken all our time (and money lol) for the past 6 months.  It was very hard work and quite scary at times, especially when the roof went on. But, summer is before us now and we can sit back and enjoy it.

  2. I will take some daylight shots tomorrow.

We have some new plans For the surrounds.  All along the right hand side of the deck there will be a pond with lillies and goldfish.  It will have some kind of water feature and will be lit up at night.

here is a pond that we built a few months ago so similar to this only longer.

  4. Thanks @Wa7

Hervey Bay is a very beautiful area, stunning beaches sheltered by the lovely Fraser Island so very safe for swimming or fishing. Also it is a growing town so lots of building work taking place so possible work for a tradie.

if you are used to a big city then you may be a bit surprised at how laid back it is in HB. If you are wanting to eat out for instance, then make sure you get out early as most places are closed by 9pm.

We absolutely loved living in the Bay but work brought us to Bundy and I have to say as beautiful as Hervey Bay is, Bundy is the best place for us.  You can easily purchase a place on anchorage and still be very close to town. We are about 30mins from the beaches of Bargara and 5 minutes from the river which is great for boating and ten minutes to the shops.

Possibly more work available in Bundaberg. Just enough shops to buy most things you need. Not much in the way of public transport though so you need to drive everywhere. Having said that, all parking is free. Roads are wide and traffic is light so driving is not a chore.

We have the best weather. Every day is sunny and warm, even in the winter, though it can get a bit cool at night time in the winter months

Only other thing to think about is medical treatment. Some specialist services are only available privately or you may have to travel to Brisbane, however both places have fairly large hospitals, both private and public so most things are catered for locally.

To sum up, if you can find work here it’s a great place to live, finding a job is key.

  5. Oh Bob, that sounds like a nightmare. Yes we are in Bundy, we used to live in Hervey Bay for a couple of years and you are absolutely right, paradise on earth.

Our pool builders came highly recommended and they have more than lived up to their reputation. We love our pool and have found it very easy to look after.

we have been working hard on the gazebo for the past few weeks and it’s coming on nicely.  It’s just been the two of us doing it and at times we would have been glad if some help but we ploughed on and are now over the worst.

    This is the recent progress

  6. Hervey Bay is beautiful...........if you wish to retire. There is a very large elderly population.

It is very hard to get work in Hervey Bay unless you are a care worker or a nurse or doctor. Most part time jobs are casual.

If you do intend to move there and  you are not a qualified medical assistant of some sort then I would say you will need enough cash to keep you going for minimum 6 months while you look for work.

Not as beautiful, but maybe an easier option is just one hour north, Bundaberg.

Huge properties available in Bundaberg some with pools some on acreage for a lot less money than Brisbane.. Or you can buy land for less than $200,000 and have one built for around $350,000

Work is still hard to get but perhaps not as difficult as Hervey Bay , loads of space for the dog 🐕
