  2. This is a old thread but gives some idea of price... http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/transport-shipping/166269-movecube-australia-uk.html I just did the request quote for a large move cube and it came out at $2166.50 - $2211.50 depending on shipping time, with a $300 deposit, that was packing/loading & unloading myself, why not give it a go yourself as you know what you want to ship and approx. size of cube needed...

  4. From our own experience (and not going into great detail) finish education in the UK. UK qualifications can be converted to Australian equivalent but not the other way round it seems (recent experience) Our eldest finished his education in UK our youngest 14 at the time we came out is currently in education here and not doing very well at all, in hindsight I wish we had stayed for him to finish his GCSE's in the UK. In hindsight there are a lot of things I would have done differently but that is the beauty of hindsight.... :jimlad:

    Time to Go

Good luck Paul have a safe and speedy flight home
  6. We tried several mortgage providers both last year and again this year when we went back on holiday, to get a mortgage - any type of mortgage.... We were continually told they expect one of you to be earning a UK wage for at least six months and it had to be in a permanent position if the job had a probationary period then we had to wait until that period was over before applying - doesn't matter that we had a mortgage for 20+ years before moving to Oz and that we have a substantial deposit and able to pay mortgage while we stay here for a few years longer. We are both in well paid positions. Our credit history is also very very good, we've kept bank accounts and credit cards, registered at a UK address for the electoral role. Hindsight is a beautiful thing and I wish we hadn't sold our house or had been able to buy something smaller prior to leaving to let out but would have something to go back to in the future, we've only been here 2yrs...
  7. I renewed our sons passports earlier this year, did it all online, sent off requested documents by fast post and had them back within 6 weeks
