  1. Im off with the wife and dustbin lids tomorrow to see Robbie at Rod laver, (and I see that there are still tickets available for tomorrow) Is there anybody else on here going tonight or tomorrow night, and if there is anybody going tonight I would be very interested to know how the show was. I know its going to be totally different to his normal shows, and I do love his swing/Sinatra style of music, but still like to watch him "let me entertain you" as well.
  2. Did anybody go to the car and bike show. An awesome turn out of some very nice cars and bikes. [emoji2][emoji2][emoji2] Weather was fantastic and a great day.
  3. I did a lot of research before buying, because over $700.00 for the model I eventually bought was a lot of cash, but the Roomba stood out from the rest for reliability & options. I definitely think the upper range models are overpriced, but haven't regretted buying it since.
  4. Got the wife a roomba irobot and apart from being a bit noisy it's awesome. We have two dogs and a cat and just turn it on each day when leaving and it does its job while we are out.
  5. im with the Bendigo with my mortgage since today, but my wife uses them for her business and I think they are great. Admittedly we did buy shares two years ago in our town to enable them to open a branch here (along with a lot of other locals), but I like the personal more friendly approach that the Bendigo adopts. I went to change my mortgage with the commonwealth bank, and I would have needed to have a video conference with a mortgage broker somewhere else in the country (ive done all my banking with them for 7 years) walked into the Bendigo, and had a chat with the manager. Sorted out the details in 15 minutes and shaved 0.25% off my mortgage straight away. For smaller communities they are fantastic with their support of local clubs. Big thumbs up from me.
  6. Hi Daniela would I be correct in guessing you are Dutch? Do you have any experience in flower farms? you could try contacting the following companies http://www.sunnyhillflowers.com.au/ http://www.yellowpages.com.au/vic/silvan/burleigh-flowers-pty-ltd-12986648-listing.html (grower wholesaler) https://www.tesselaar.net.au/ http://www.tnbtulips.com.au/ http://www.coolwyn.com.au/ you could also try https://www.facebook.com/groups/324949554237293/ Its a local facebook page, and a lot of members are local growers & farmers. You will need to ask permission to join, but you will then be able to put up a post on there asking if anybody has work. January is not a great month around here on the flower farms, but November, December & Feb onwards are always busy. There are also a lot of strawberry & cherry farms in Silvan & Seville area up here in the Dandenong ranges, so you could do a search for that as well if interested. veel success. p.s. all the above links are companies owned by Dutchies
  7. And what's your budget? That can play a big role at that time of year.
  8. For anybody looking for something to do this weekend the Tesselaar tulip festival opens this Thursday in silvan in the dandenong ranges and runs for nearly a month, and also this Sunday is also the Monbulk custom car and bike show down the Main Street with hundreds of customized and antique vehicles on show. Most traders will be open with plenty for all to see and do. The two events are just 5 minutes drive from one to the other.
  9. Welcome to drop in any time. The tulip festival opens this weekend and there is also a custom car and bike show in Monbulk on Sunday all day. You might want to combine the 2. If you do, take the turning off the Monbulk road at the patch and head up baynes park road. It will avoid road blocks and detours because of both events.
  10. on this page are their various contact details. http://www.ironladyimports.com/contact-us/ you could send a text. both numbers listed are mobile numbers.
  11. a guy I used to socialize with back in my younger years when living in Holland, who also stayed with my parents during a 6 month work experience period in the UK ended up working in the company next door to mine here in Oz.
  12. often companies with those kinds of numbers also have a number for overseas callers to use as well somewhere on their website, or you could just send them an email asking which number you can call from overseas.
  13. I have a short term rental unit that suits a family of 4 just on the edge of Melbourne in the Dandenong ranges & buzzy bee has a studio that is suitable for couples in Mordialloc. We are looking at selling later this year, so only have availability until early November, so not sure when you are looking to move. otherwise www.stayz.com.au or www.airbnb.com are good ones to check out. www.gumtree.com.au has accommodation on offer, but has been known for scammers. Don't rule it out, but be a bit more careful is using gumtree.
  14. We have friends that moved to the west because of work in the CBD, and now live in point cook. They don't really like the area much and commuting is often a nightmare, but because they have no kids they spend most weekends, travelling or away, so can live with it. There are a lot of new builds & estates in the west so the infrastructure is still quite young and not ideal yet for everybody, plus the road links to the CBD over the west gate bridge can sometimes be a major bottleneck. The plus side is the prices are more affordable. I find it a little soulless in the west personally. The east is more developed and has better infrastructure, but you pay the price of course. You can move further out towards Cranbourne, Berwick, Pakenham as you mention, and you will have a 45/60 minute commute (not much different from point cook I would imagine), but rental & house prices are lower than living closer to the city. rail links are generally quite good to the CBD as well in the East.
  15. when looking at bike insurance, check out Swann insurance. very comprehensive & not expensive bike specialists.
  16. any reason why you would prefer to be within 30mins of the CBD? you could go the other way, and live in or around the triangle and pay about 400/500p.w max rent without a problem. ferntree gully, upper ferntree, Upwey, boronia, Montrose, the basin, lilydale etc just to name a few places.

  20. They are in the process of finishing a new store here in our little town in the hills. I love the tools on special, ideal for the home handyman. recently bought a bench drill, axe, timber screws, steel brackets etc. tinned and packaged food generally excellent value, but the meat and veggies are pretty average quality IMO.
  21. another thing worth thinking about is that if you do move over during, or just before the summer holidays, the kids wont have had time to make friends at school, meaning they will get bored on their own, or you will have to keep them entertained for 7 weeks
  22. ive not heard of that ever happening myself. The idea is to stop people bringing in dozens of the same new item for resale. I would be more worried that they will get you for the mountain bike not being clean enough.
