  5. Meet up is set for Sunday 2nd Feb at 12 midday see you there, Mandi x
  6. I visited the office in Adelaide when there in Sept to enquire what I would need to complete my registration when I return, they said they will require to see originals of my passport with stamped date of arrival, evidence of my visa & either proof of current address or employment offer. The latter substitutes the current address for those who haven't yet got any ID in the form of utility bills etc. Does that make sense? Mandi x
  7. If anyone wants to ask me questions about getting their A class through the vettasses, i am more than happy to answer. Hi Drewe, I'm enquiring on my OH's behalf, is the process the same state wide? we're moving to Adelaide in March, he's done his Vetassess, now just researching next steps required when there, cheers Mandi
  8. Anyone interested in another members meet up in Yorkshire? Location is the Doncaster M180/M18 services. Date 1st or 2nd wkend in Feb - majority decides. Time 12 midday. The last one was a good success providing a great opportunity to meet new people, share experiences, ideas & advice & to make new friends. My partner Leigh is an electrical engineer & I am a nurse. We plan to move to Adelaide in March & would love to meet new fellow movers, as well as catch up with previous attenders. This same thread is also on the socialising forum on the PIA site, but I will update this one accordingly with info & dates for those interested. Anyone & everyone interested are very welcome, Mandi x
  9. Cool I'll look out for you on PIA & definitely catch up once there! Bet you're well excited?!!!! I'm buzzing! already counting down the days lol
  10. Hi there, how are your plans going? My partner & I are moving to Adelaide 23rd Feb & cannot wait! I'm a nurse (haematology & oncology) & my partner is an electrical/fitting engineer. When I was there in Sept/Oct I visited all the hospitals & distributed my CV to the lead of all the wards/units of my background. At the time there weren't many opportunities for permanent work, but lots of temporary/casual posts available. This was the route I was anticipating having to take just to get in somewhere, that was until I received an e-mail in December, from one of the contacts I'd made whilst there, offering me a post to start this year! Have you contacted anyone over there yet? are you registered with seek.com & SA Health? they are both great resources & notify you of any suitable/appropriate vacancies that match the criteria you input. As regards to engineering, I know there are good opportunities there, however like all tradies, my partner has to take a step back to prove/show his abilities & competence in order to gain his A licence, before he can do the same work he's been doing here for his whole working life!!! frustrating I know, but I kind of respect the Ozy way of rules & regulations, it reduces the number of unsafe cowboys working in the industry, unlike here!!! lol Anyway, it would be good to hear from you & catch up. We don't come on here often, we're frequently on the PIA forum (with same username) if you want to get in touch. Best of luck, Mandi x

  13. Any members interested in a meet up in or around North Lincolnshire & Yorkshire? or is there one occurring in any of these area's that I haven't come across? I'm a nurse & my partner is an electrician, we're moving to Adelaide in Jan & thought it would be good to meet other members & share experiences & advice face to face & hopefully make some new friends, Mandi
  14. Hi Erica, I'm moving to Adelaide too! hope to go in Sept/Oct. How long ago did you send your application & have you heard anything? I sent mine on 18/03/13 & only so far have only received an e-mail communicating they'd received it & will be in touch should it be incomplete, hoping no news is good news!! Mandi

  19. Hi everyone, I've still not sent off my AHPRA application yet, just wondering wether to do it once I get there in Sept/Oct? or is it best to start it now? any advice?
  20. Hi everyone! I'm just about to send off my AHPRA, thanks for the tips & advice posted, I'm going to contact my local courts immediately in attempt to save the pennies!! With regards to the CPD part of the application, I found a very useful template posted on another thread used to show CPD details, CPD template.doc I found it is very useful. Carol, if you still require it, you can have a look at my CV to help guide you with yours if you wish? PM me your e-mail add & I'll forward it you you. Anyone know of current processing time frames for applications going to Adelaide office? Anyone moving to Adelaide? Best of luck to you all with your journey. Mandi
  21. Hi J, my entry timescale for 190 PR visa is 12 months from when I had my medical, not from date of visa issue. Mandi
  22. Hi everyone& thanks to Tracey for starting this thread & to all who have added to it. There are some veryinteresting posts submitted with mixed views expressed, which makes good reading, so I thought I'd add my bit.. My partner I are planning the move to Adelaidelater this year, Sept/Oct. We've been twice before on long holidays and lovedit. We know living there will be different to holidaying there, but we love theoutdoors & have many hobbies such as walking, photography, climbing, cycling, rock crawling, model aircraft flying, etc. so we thought we'd move toOz for a better outdoor lifestyle. We have a good general lifestyle here in theUK, I'm a nurse, he's an electrician, we earn good money & have our ownproperty, but we want to be able to do more stuff outdoors on an evening & onour days off without having to wait, take annual leave & go to Europe orfurther to warmer climates to facilitate our hobbies & interests. We're going to rent out ourproperty here to provide a safety net, just incase it doesn't work out for us,but we are going with a positive outlook, determination & commitment tomaking it work. Emigrating there will no doubt have its ups & its downs. Iacknowledge that it involves huge adjustments & changes & the cost ofliving in Adelaide will be different to here, but we just want to enjoyspending time together doing the things we enjoy doing. Ultimately we think we'd rather regret trying then regret never trying & live in wonder...Mandi
  23. Hi Kelly, I was worried too as I haven't had time to do much CPD! On another thread I got some great info about CPD & what people had submitted etc & one member kindly sent me a CPD template/guide of what they used to document all theirs, if you PM me your e-mail address I can pass it on if you'd like? I just can't remember the name of the thread! lol Mandi
  24. That's what we're all here for...to help eachother!! I don't know anything about spouse visa's, but I'm pretty certain that with all visas you have 12 months from the medical or police check application date to make first entry & not the visa application date. If you weren't already aware, there are a few threads about spouse visas, with lots of info about time frames etc, you may get more specific details there. Best of luck Mandi
