2. Perth is a cool city, ticks a lot of boxes for me right now. That might change in the future but for now it's where we want to be. Just shows it's all subjective, I'm sure there's probably someone in sitting in Mogadishu right now thinking "wow, what a place".
 3. I'm off to No 9. Cape Town is the best city I've ever been to. It's probably my girlfriends best feature (being from Cape Town ). I think I've made the mistake of using it as a benchmark for where I'd like to live though. Not many cities can live up to how outstandingly stunning it is. Visiting Cape Town on my way to Melbourne probably helped me realise how much of a bland and ordinary city Melbourne is. Melbourne should really be a German city, functional, efficient but lacking any personality.
 4. The only way I can see Melbourne being the worlds most liveable city is if you've got a thing for ugly buildings and crap weather. Personally, I can't wait to get out of the worlds most "liveable" city.
 5.

Ah well, maybe someday you'll find someone to like you and join your petty crusade against me. Until then, I'll just keep laughing at you :biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:

Things have been a bit up and down for us, we found a place, moved in, wasn't cleaned, then moved out again within the week. Had flu on top of that, so it wasn't the best way to start our new lives. Got a cool little studio down in Oakleigh East until Monday, then we're moving to our new place back up in Camberwell.

Can't get over the size of the place. Went looking for cars yesterday. Guy said "no used cars on our lot, drive just down the road to our other plot". Anyway, about 4 miles later we're thinking "we've gone well past it". Turned out we still had about a mile to go. :goofy:

Anyway, things will get better from now. Girlfriend started work in Chadstone (or Chaddy as the locals call it). I've still got my holiday head on, so I spend most my nights thinking of excuses not to find work. I guess I'll need to snap out of it and join the real world again soon

 7.
Please tell me the weather gets better than this.

 8. Not sure what accommodation is in the area but I do know the College quite well. All I can say is the area it's in is a bit of a dump. You might want to try looking at Wembley (again a bit of a dump but may have more choice of Hotels because of the stadium) and is two stops away on the tube (Wembley Park - Dollis Hill). My personal choice would be Golders Green. It's quite a nice area and only 30 - 45mins from the College. It's probably the best place also if you want to grab a pint or a bit to eat in the evening. It'll depend on how fussy you are of course (you might be content with just getting your head down) and availability within your budget. Check out these sites for some info; the first is BnB's in the area, and the second is the Transport For London web-site so you can plot on getting around. http://www.bedandbreakfasts.co.uk/propertysearch.asp?query=dollis%20hill&dist=&force=&nomap= http://www.tfl.gov.uk/
 9. Do you know if there's anyplace that does the equivalent in Vic? I'm in two minds wether to go through the hassle of TRA (it's the nightmare of collating evidence when you've spent the last ten years working through agencies). Failing that, I'll probably be cheaper in the long run just heading to Perth for two weeks and transferring the licence if it's possible. Just to add; I'm trying to remember if you can do the Perth course with just Vetasses OSTR (I think it's called)

Thinks are coming along great thanks. I'll be arriving in September via Scotland and South Africa. Been trying not to think about it all to be honest. I get excited by the fact I'm moving away, and then stressed by the thought of what's still to be done.

Hope you've settled in to your new life. Glad to hear your recommendation that Melbourne is awesome. Not long until I find out for myself :jiggy:

 13. Hello, After much deliberation, I feel like most people here TRA (and maybe PEER) is the way forward. I've got my Visa already so no worries there, but like most had to go down the dead end Vetassess path. Trouble is, besides feeling like I'm starting all over again from three years ago when I did my Vetassess. My references required for TRA are going to be hard to come by. I've worked via agencies for the last ten years. With most projects being filled exclusively with agencie staff (engineers, managers, supervisors etc). So as the project disbands, these people move on are no longer with the same companies. I don't believe either that working through an agency is classified as being self employed by TRA. Also the recruitment agencies can give a letter stating I was on such a such contract at whatever period, but they are however unable to give a technical reference of duties etc. Has anyone else been in a similar situation to myself? Or does anyone know exactly what information they've supplied themselves in order to gain their ARTC. Thanks.
 14.
Good luck with your new start. Hope it all works out for you. You must be really excited. Just think, 24hrs and summer has arrived. You can't go wrong with that.

 15.
If I had to define surreal I'd use the past 30 minutes

 16.
Thanks for the Christmas wishes. Hope your enjoying your time with your family. Just wait until next year when you have Christmas in the sun. That's something that really warps the mind :goofy:
