  1. We've done it several times before so I'm not worried about the packers lol but it's the first time I'm moving over to Australia as an adult so it's all a bit nerve wracking lol xx
  2. And I keep thinking I've forgotten to do something or get something sorted as next Monday/Tuesday the packers come in so I need to have everything sorted by then...please tell me it's not just me that gets a total mental block in this situation??
  3. Ours is costing about £3500 for a 20ft container plus the marine insurance but that includes packing over 2 days xx
  4. It does yep. Not least because they *literally* come in and pack. You don't have to do anything...they even deal with all the customs paperwork at the other end and will deliver it to your door (and even unpack it/take the packaging away if you request that). My parents have used them all 3 times we've moved back and forth between the UK & Australia and will be using them for the forth time in August this year when we move to Australia again xx
  5. We fly out in just under 6 weeks so I feel all your anxiety/excitement! We're leaving Tibshelf (where my bf lives)/Wirksworth (where I live) in Derbyshire. In the last couple of days I've started sorting out silly/small things like changing addresses of bank accounts and points cards etc as well as my drivers licence (which btw can now be renewed online for £14 and they can also use your passport photo/signature for it too!!) so I don't have to worry about any post coming to my old address and once I've got all that sorted then I'll be moving onto sorting out my packing (we're getting anglo pacific in to do most of it so I just need to sort out bits and pieces/if anything is staying etc). I handed in my resignation at work last Friday (10th July) and since doing that it's all become very real very quickly lol. My bf has already finished at his work (long story but basically he's got lots of stuff to sort at home, packing to do and a holiday with his mates to go on as well before we leave). We'll be flying into Melbourne and then going up to Mansfield in Victoria to stay with my aunt a few days until we can get somewhere sorted...at this rate it'll all be here before we know it lol xx
  6. We've gone with Anglo Pacific; used them all other times we've moved back and forth between the UK and Australia (this will be our 5th time moving back to Australia!) And can't fault them at all...they're freight forwarders as well as movers/packers so all aspects of it is done in house meaning costs are lower on your part in fact on this occasion once our container is packed it's sealed up and then shipped straight to the port at Felixstowe to be sent on the next ship...next time it's opened is when it arrives in Melbourne xx
  7. 51 days until me (aussie/sponsor), my partner (he got a subclass 100 straight away!!!) and my parents (who are returning to Australia and are both aussie so don't need any visas) fly out of Heathrow bound for Melbourne!!! eeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!
  8. If they do get the new quota in July (and hence issue loads then) it'll be because the financial year in Australia runs 1st July to 30th June xx
  9. Not in my bf's case...he got his subclass 100 straight away xx
  10. When it's been witnessed (because it does need to be as well as being included in the application) then upload it to show different areas of the application such as financial status or living arrangements etc. we uploaded ours something like 4 or 5 times each and it must have been ok because my bf ended up getting subclass 100 xx
  11. Really glad you mentioned that about Yorkshire Tea...my bf loves it and pretty much won't drink any other tea (typical northener lol) so we'll definitely be stocking up on it xx
  12. Of course you can Jen44...pm me your email address and I'll send it over xx
  13. We applied for my bf's visa in May last year (when it was an 8-9 month waiting period) and did the medical and police checks within a month of submitting the application so you can do them all at the start then just upload all the other documents you think your CO might need then too...if they want anything else they'll let you know (we were asked for more financial records going all the way back to 2012) either when they do their initial contact email to you, or further down the line after that. In terms of the deadline, it's usually around the time that the medical or police certificate runs out depending on which is dated the latest. I say usually tho because in my bf's case he has until 3rd September to arrive in Australia but his medical was done at the end of May 2014 and his police certificate was done in early June 2014, so it is also down to the CO's own discretion/your specific situation. In terms of putting your house up for sale, I'd say contact an estate agent in your area to see how long houses around you take on average to sell, then you can take it from there. Also see if you can put a clause in the contract that the house isn't available until you have your visa? It's a long shot to do that of course, and indeed some home buyers may be put off by it, but the rate at which UK solicitors and surveyors go at I think you'd be ok to put something like that into the contract lol Anything else you want to know, just ask...it's what we're all here for; to help and advise each other [emoji2] Also I have a word document template that I did for when me and my bf did our stat decs about our relationship that I can send you if you want? If you do want it then just drop me a pm with your email address and I'll get it sent straight over to you xx
  14. Congrats! We got the subclass 100 too (back in February) and fly out 24th August...we'll also be going to country Victoria [emoji2] xx
  15. Probably because it used to be when i went out to Australia with my parents back in the late 90s
