thombatt Posted December 20, 2011 Share Posted December 20, 2011 Yep Visa fees have been identified as a quick fix to help get the budget into surplus. You can understand the reasoning, Australia is the country of choice, it has more applications to immigrate, per head of population than any other country. If the fees were to increase by 15%, there would not be a 15% decrease in applications I suspect they could have gone even harder. If they doubled the fees I don't think the number of applications would have halved. But I guess it's also about the quality of the applicant.
